Mariah is the first to step foot on land, enjoying the squish of sand under her boots for the first time in weeks. She can't help but smile as she helps others off from the launch, a genuine one even. She moves away from the others after the first few are onto land, hiking a ways up the beach. It looked like there was some sort of encampment further down by the river, not to mention plenty of land to go around far into the distance. Who knew how many people were already here. Were they natives? Maybe all just refugees like herself. Didn't matter much. Where there were people, there was work to be found. The thought made her smile all over again. Lost in thought, she idly looks up the beach, looking for any signs of previous arrivals. The Bard washes up close by, clinging desperately to a piece of driftwood. The slim figure drags herself further up the beach, coughing up water as she does. She tosses the driftwood away, and unsteadily stands up. She stands there for a moment, tucking her hair back out of her face and wringing it out so that she could see clearly, before suddenly whirling around towards the ocean and scanning it. She muttered something under her breath, the words "...gotta be kidding me..." drifting over the sound of the waves to any bystanders.

Appearance: A bit on the short side, with a thin, lanky build. Round amber eyes, round face, dark brown hair cut to rest about mid-way down her neck. Tends to wear simple and well-fitting clothes: knee-high leather boots, riding breeches, a simple blouse, and a hooded cloak, all in earthy browns and tans.
Equipment: An enchanted compass worn on a strap around her neck, a travel bag containing several tubes for storing rolls of parchment, bottles of ink, wooden quills, and a spyglass.
Skills and Abilities: Dawn has a natural knack for directions, as well as night vision and a fine sense of hearing. She is skilled in navigation and cartography.
Biography: Dawn was named after the time of day she was born, and grew up among her people in the forests to the West. She enjoyed exploring the woods, and as time went on came to tagging along with guides as they lead merchants and travelers around the region. Soon she came to being a guide herself, travelling north and south among the forest to see as much as she could. However, even the wide breadth of her homeland couldn't satiate her wanderlust, and she soon made the uncommon decision to depart and explore the lands to the East. As a parting gift her father bestowed upon her an enchanted compass, an old family heirloom none had seen a use for before then. She wandered nearby lands for years after that, drawing up maps of everywhere she went.

It was good to be back. She shades her eyes, scanning the horizon. Trees, mountains... and a very wet person down the beach. Her interest piqued, she approaches the stranger, waving in greetings. "Hello!" She smiles. "You okay there?"

"I just don't really know what happened. Where are we? I don't remember ever being here before." She reached down towards her belt on a reflex, feeling for something that was very clearly not there. Her face fell in dismay. "Oh no... No, I must have lost it in the water." The Bard sighed. "Fantastic. Just fantastic."

Mariah Scarlett Fate was always interesting , E'hos always saw to that. The waves crashed against the shoreline , tossing bits of the old world haphazardly onto the sands. One such bit of the old world was the figure of a woman, about sixty paces away from Mariah. Her bronze skin and drenched dark blue garb contrasted against the pale sands. Upon venturing closer to the woman it would be apparent she was unconscious. The bronzed woman was well built, with short dark red hair clinging to the sides of her face, which seemed to be framed with pale scaring that seemed deliberate--- even decorative. Intricate lace works skirted the sides of her diamond shaped face. This scar work was not symmetrical despite being well balanced, two larger patterns near her cheek bones were distinctively different. Wherever her skin was exposed more scar work had been laid it seemed, though not nearly as tightly packed, and curiously empty on the hands. Her left hand clutched a spear that looked rather plain but was made of a single substance, it didn’t shine like metal. The woman’s eyes opened, the icy blue orbs focusing on the sky “Amon?" She asks..." Le’aish ?” her voice was lower, a cello rather than a violin perhaps.
(Amon?" She asks "I live?") She struggled to sit upright, her wits still not about her.

Dazed and disoriented after days spent in the waves meant she'd be weak, Mariah knew. Still, cornered with a spear was a dangerous combination, and this stranger looked like she was no stranger to combat. Best to play it safe. She couldn't help but lament for a moment that she hadn't tested her magic yet, but with any luck there would be no need to. "Hey there, stranger," she says, holding her hands up in mock surrender. "You doin' okay? 'Cause ya look like you've seen better days."

Her face furrows in concern as the stranger keeps talking. They had lost something? Dawn reaches for a cord around her neck. "What did you lose? I might be able to help you with that."

She corrected herself halfway through her sentence, obviously trying to keep a positive appearance. "Anyways, what's your name?" She asked, peering up at Dawn through strands of wet hair.

Mariah ScarlettStill rather confused of exactly what was going on Sor didnt react at first to the womans words aside from looking at her while sitting up. "Uhmm... " she frowned " Where am I? " Her gaze shifted from the Outlander's face to the ocean, her jaw just falling open slightly as she took in what she was looking at. A mix of panic and wonder washed over to womans face as she locked eyes with woman " Where?" Hysteria edged into her voice in the form of a half hearted laugh.

"Maybe I'll have to try another time." "What about you, what's your story?" She asked.

She takes a step back, hoping she was out of spear range.

Dawn nods along. "I'm surprised you didn't just ride the wave, if you were on your boat and all. I'm sure the boat and the manatees survived, though. They probably hardly noticed the difference." She smiles. "You just need to find them again. And if so many of us came here, I bet they will as well." The Bard nods. "Yeah, that's true. I woulda tried to ride the wave, but, well, out in the middle of the ocean I don't think there are many waves." She glanced at the piece of wood she had discarded. "Maybe I'll have to try another time." "What about you, what's your story?" She asked. Dawn shrugs, a bit sheepish. "Nothing exciting, really. I just like to explore." She starts digging into her pack, pulling out a roll of parchment. "I make these as I go!" She unrolls it, revealing a hand-drawn map. The art is sketchy, stylized landmarks interspersed with jotted notes and markings. "That way I know where I've been, like a journal of all the places I've travelled. I can also sell copies for good money; it helps fund my travels." She shrugs, rolling up the map again. "Like I said, it's not exciting, but it's a good way to make a life."

The Bard said, smiling. "That takes quite some skill, I'd imagine. I suspect the people here will need your help pretty soon."
