"Yeah, I dunno... I'm not super experienced, but my Dad thinks I'm ready to venture out. Actually, now that we've arrived on land, I can feel my power increasing." Wah almost tried to move the ground beneath him, but he realized that might not be a good idea to try. He is not sure how powerful his abilities might be right now since he hasn't been able to use them yet, he could hurt people. "Sorry, I guess I could tell you some of the stuff I can do. My ability is based on rock, I can move it and stuff, make it float, y'know... I actually caused a landslide when I was a kid, it broke our house and I ended up miles away. I don't know if I can use my power in a helpful way here, maybe I should go explore?" Wah looked to Naoki to tell him what he should do. Naoki’s eyebrows rise at the mention of rock-related power. “Well,” she supposes, “If those abilities of yours work, they’d be invaluable in construction. I’d encourage you to have a go, see what you can do. If you’ve got the strength and finesse to raise up rudimentary structures out of the ground, we could reinforce them, put doors on, and be a very good spot.” “Grandma might be able to help you,” Naoki continues, gesturing to the robed lady a short distance away. “She tutored a great many magi in her day. You would do well under her tutelage, if you’d like.” Naoki offers the suggestion.

Roxanne gave the woman a hesitant nod, taking the scalpel gingerly between thumb and forefinger and tucking the sharp blade carefully into her coat. The old woman's touch made her skin crawl for reasons she couldn't articulate, but she didn't draw away. From what she knew, this old lady was not the sort of person to offend. Besides, having such a powerful person owing her a favor was probably a good thing. She wasn't sure what (if anything) she would ever ask of such a person, but it Grandma seemed like a good sort of friend to have. "I'll be sure to get it done, ma'am," she said. "Any sort of creature we can find, I'll make sure you get its blood." She let out a sigh of relief as Grandma walked away, eyeing the case dubiously before tucking it away securely into an interior pocket. Somewhat relieved that the former Grand Vizier had left, she went off to speak to the captain. Seeing that Naoki was speaking to a couple of strange lizard creatures, she waited impatiently for a moment of the woman's time. "Excuse me, captain," she said, once the lizards were finished. "My group will be going off in search of some game to hunt. I'm Roxanne Fletcher, and I'll be going with Katiana Graves, Coatl of the Imilia, and Shiv...uh, Shivana or something to that effect. Er...you don't happen to have any extra bows on hand, would you? I'm rather adept, and I'd imagine it would be somewhat difficult to run around and stick animals with my sword." She gave the woman a stiff, polite smile. Roxanne had never actually spoken to the captain before, but she was certain that the woman knew her family. Everyone who was anyone seemed to know her family...at least, they did before. Now the family everyone knew had vanished beneath the waves, leaving her alone. It was a difficult thought to shake, no matter how hard she tried to ignore it. Naoki then turns her attention to Roxxane and listens curiously, taking down the names she mentioned. Roxanne, Naoki recalls, is obviously a relation of Robert (like all Fletchers,) but, if she recalls the gossip correctly, shares some of her tastes. She seems a bit shy here, and who wouldn’t be? A lot of these damn people, actually, seem to have forgotten her authority, but that’s beside the point. Roxanne seems agreeable, and it’s for that reason that Naoki slowly nods. “Over here,” she gestures for Roxxane to follow her over to one of the supply piles. From among the chests and tents she ordered brought, she pulls a long, polished wood case with an ornate N emblazoned on it. “This bow was given to me by The…” Naoki cuts herself off as she sees what’s inside the case. Her mouth slides from one side of her face to the other and back, and she harrumphs. “See, they both have the same case,” she explains, turning it so Roxxane can see. “But this bow was not given to me by the fae. I hope that one is in the hold somewhere, but this is just a very nice bow I had commissioned from Dawnfire Bowery. I used it to compete in the First Prospernalia’s Celebration archery contest, where I came in dead last, if I recall. I’m still a bit sore about that, but you’ll doubtlessly make better use of it than I will here.” The case contains a longbow, sized for someone about as large as Naoki. It’s got some light ornamentation, some gold filigree around the handle, a few replacement strings, and a quiver chock-full of arrows. She offers the entire thing to Roxxane. “Bring it back when you’re done?”

Roxanne followed the captain over to the supply chests, noting with some concern that the pile of food crates seemed awfully small. The hunting parties really were going to have to try their hardest, or people would be going hungry sooner rather than later. Even so, hunting for enough animals to feed such a large group was a daunting task. Even a single meal for everyone would require bringing down hundreds of large animals, creatures that Roxanne still wasn't sure actually existed on this island. Sighing, she tried to put the gloomy thoughts out of her mind. Brooding on the colony's impending slow death by starvation wasn't going to help her, especially since she still had a job to do.
When Naoki pulled the bow from its case, Roxanne's eyes widened in surprise. The loan of the captain's own personal bow was surprising, but definitely welcome. It certainly looked nice, its smooth, polished limbs looking almost unused. It wasn't nearly as ornate as she would have expected, the gold filigree and engravings all tastefully subtle. She hadn't heard the story of Naoki coming in dead last in the archery contest, but didn't doubt it one bit. Such embarrassing tidbits about the Empress had always had a way of being left out of news reports and quietly forgotten back in Isra. Besides, a quick glance at the captain's soft, uncalloused fingertips told her that the woman likely didn't spend much time practicing with the bow. They looked more like the hands of a painter or a pianist, delicate and dexterous. What did fingers like that do, anyways? Certainly not any kind of real work, likely nothing more strenuous than picking up a pen or a wine glass. After a moment, she realized that she was staring at the captain's hands and shook herself, raising her gaze up to meet the captain's eye.
"Thank you, Captain," she said, taking the bow carefully and hefting it in her hand. "This will be a big help. I'll return it when I get back, hopefully with some fresh game in tow."
The bow had a nice weight to it, although Roxanne was a bit concerned that the draw would be lighter than she preferred. Naoki certainly didn't look like she had the muscles for a proper hunting bow. Still, empress's plaything or not, it was still better than throwing rocks. Besides, now that she had the bow, Naoki couldn't go and "try her hand" at shooting seagulls. That in and of itself was a relief, as Roxanne had a sneaking suspicion that such an activity would invariably end with someone getting impaled by a falling arrow.
"We'd best get going now," she said, putting the bow back into the case and shouldering the whole bundle. "It takes a while to get used to this new environment, we've got to get a feel for the sort of creatures we can find here. We'll probably be back in a few days. Thanks again, Captain."
Giving the captain a thin smile, she turned and headed back to her group. Maybe Naoki wasn't that bad...although the eye patch was still silly. Surely two eyes were better than one? She'd heard of sailors using eye patches to protect their night vision for venturing belowdecks, but she hardly saw the point in wearing such a thing on dry land.

"Really? I'll go ask her then! Thank you, Captain." Wah waves bye-bye and heads over to where Grandma is. This would be exciting to have another teacher; his father meant for him to go to the magical city of Scholomance for school, but something happened to that place. "Excuse me, You are the one called Grandma ?" Wah does a chinese-style bow and introduces himself. "My name is Wah Doobie, my father is Doobie du Shoobie. Captain Naoki suggested that you could teach me how to use my power, if you have the time."

Good luck on the hunt, bring back something tasty!” Smirking to herself, Naoki offers Roxxane a finger-wiggling parting wave and turns her attention to the pile of supplies. Already, the rowboats are starting back to The Depravity for more, but there’s plenty to be done before then. First among them: setting up her tents. Hefting the package containing the command tent up under one arm, Naoki looks around for where she left Alden. He’s doubtlessly quite skilled at pounding pegs into holes, and that’ll be useful as far as the tent is concerned. Then will come the surveying and the planning… Oof. There’s a lot of work to be done.

Appearance: When you want to hide a tree, you hide it in a forest. Similarly, if you wanted to hide Katiana, you would put her in a crowd of humans. Brown hair, brown eyes, thin features, and an unremarkable height may not set her apart, but the way she manipulates her expressions and gallivants around certainly do. Those who know her are familiar with a particularly mischievous left-sided smirk, above which forms a dimple. Those who have yet to meet her will immediately know her for the way she bounces from one place to the next, holding her skirts in her hands.
____________________________________________________
Equipment: A recurve bow made of elm, a small wood-cutting ax, and a skinning knife complete Katiana's non-exhaustive equipment. Being an adventurer who often loses herself in the wilderness, she also favors flint and tinder, rope, medicines, a waterskin, sewing supplies, and food rations.
____________________________________________________
Skills and Abilities: Though not particularly concerned in the art of warfare, Katiana has been a hunter for as long as she could hold a bow, and over the years, she became proficient with it. One could assume that if she needed to point her arrow at a charging warrior rather than a boar, she would have the same chances of hitting it. Years of adventuring have also taught her skills in survival.
Though she has no skills in magic, nothing is stopping her from learning. Katiana's family has a history of mages, though none have been particularly gifted.

As Roxanne had her exchange with Grandma and Lady Naoki, Katiana gave her attention to Coatl and Shyv. She briefly amused herself with thoughts of the gruff man as a boy pitching hay bales, a little smile sneaking onto her face.
"Large eels might not be a bad catch, but I do believe Lady Naoki seems rather tired of fish! Shall we not search the forests for things like rabbits? Or perhaps a bird. We won't find anything as fat as a chicken, I suspect, but if we find a good flock of something that might suffice. Oh, how I miss the taste of quail! My father and I used to trap them by the dozens and let go of the skinniest so they'd grow fat by next season." She closed her eyes and reminisced warmly.
Heeding Shyv'Ahna's warning, she nodded heartily. "I couldn't dream of it. Porcupines were never on my list when I went out hunting anyway. That's for a more desperate time with no other options left. I ought to think we'd be giving each other funny stares if it ever came to that." She perked a brow and smirked, elbowing Roxanne in jest as she came over and finished her business. "Well, let's get a move on," she said alas. She rolled the sleeves of her blouse up and slipped a breast guard from the folds of her coat. She put the coat to rest on the carriage, eying the purple woman for permission first, then began to fasten the leather piece. "Might you need one too, Lady Fletcher? The snap on a longbow like that without some protection gives quite the bite. Not my business if you prefer it, though!"

Brow furrowing as the image flashed in her mind, Grandma turned to stare back at the group. Was that…? Squinting in suspicion, the old crone considered what had just happened. She knew her mind wasn’t playing tricks on her, and it was someone in the hunting party who had caused what she saw. This was something she would have to keep in mind for the future… But for now, she had other tasks she needed to attend to. Like collecting these rocks on the beach.
However, her collection of rocks would be quickly interrupted as Wah Doobie approached. She wasn’t sure what to make of the kobold really, but since Naoki had sent him over he must have some use. He did mention he had a power after all, so she might as well give him a fair shake.
“Wah Doobie… A pleasure to meet you, and yes, I am Grandma.” Stroking her chin as she appraised the kobold with mild curiosity, Grandma decided she might as well get straight to the point. “So, you’re looking for a teacher. If Naoki sent you to me I assume your power is some manner of magic? If you wouldn’t mind, could you give a demonstration so I can have a better idea of what I’ll be working with?”

Shyv'Ahna
Committed
Roleplay posts: 50
Appearance: Shyv'ahna, or Ahna for short, is an Av' nomad woman, standing at 180cm (6ft) tall. Though tall for a woman, she is in fact the average for most Av' women. She has light lavender skin, intersected by feint tattoos that glow while using magic, her eyes are golden, and her hair a very dark purple. Though mostly humanoid, she possesses a set of bowed legs, not unlike other Av’, and a pair of horns that curl around her ears.
She adorns herself with jewellery, specifically gold caps to her horns, silver and golden rings, two on the right side of her eyebrow, four in her right ear, and one through her septum.
Her body type is strong and toned, forged through years of patient training, fighting, and more travel than most would do in a single life time. It is covered, much like her face, in tattoos, jewelry and the occasional scar, from top to bottom, though most would never know considering her rather conservative wardrobe.
Equipment: Ahna uses medium armour. Leather, light scaled metal, and chainmail make up the most of her regular outfit, but all under a dark blue poncho, adorned with golden stitching and traditional Av'rae patterns that dance across its light blue trim.
Her travelling armour consists of a chain vest and a scaled skirt that reaches her knees around the back and sides, leaving the front open, starting at her belt and fanning out. Over the chain vest, she usually wears a leather corset to keep it in place.
In a trunk inside her vardo, however, sits a much more elegant set of armour, one she hadn’t worn in quite some time, her Elder Guard armour. Forged from the finest metals in dwarven-supervised forges, her Elder Guard armour has both the toughness valued by dwarves, but the mobility favoured by the Av’rae. It’s an elegant suit, tailored and forged to fit Ahna’s form, with its cuirass, graves, skirt, bracers, and boot plating made from the finest mithril, a light but extremely sturdy metal. The trim and under suit are made of a soft, breathable cotton, as is the cape that covers one shoulder.
The helmet of her Elder Guard Armour is ornate, to say the very least. It’s a closed design from back to front, but with openings to slide up around her horns, and a T-shaped visor for her stunning golden eyes to peer out of. The front of the opening is often covered by a thin chain mail for protection, as is her neck guard.
The armour’s colour matches her standard pallet, with the mithril painted mostly in a purple, with its trim painted a fine, reflective gold. The cotton of her armour, such as her undersuit and cape, are a fine dark purple with golden stitching that matches her regular shawl.
Her weapons are just as expertly forged, her primary weapon being a two handed pole weapon most would consider a fauchard, a long pole with an ornate, curved blade attached to the top, the blade on one side of the weapon’s top while a hook sat on the other, giving her the option to slash, stab, and pull as necessary. Though most Av’rae prefer to fight with two handed weapons, Shyv’Ahna also carries an ornate dagger with a similarly curved blade, just in case.
Finally, she is also an adept with a crossbow, though she prefers to fight with her melee prowess.
For transport, Shyv’Ahna has a vardo, a caravan of sorts, that she uses to transport her things as well as live inside with comfort. Being of the nomadic sort, Shyv’Ahna has no desire to a standard home, one that doesn’t move, so a Vardo, pulled by her beast of burden Bahsel, does the trick perfectly.
Bahsel, her beast of burden, is a creature rarely seen without an Av’ companion. Nobody can understand why or how, but the Av’rae are one of the few people to find these creatures’ native land and tame them for both work and protection. Bahsel could be described as a large, muscular porcupine, with thigh legs, built perfectly for work, a thick hide to protect from predators, a pair of large front teeth, perfect for chewing on its usual diet of roots and plants, and finally a back covered in quills that not only stop melee attackers, but can also be shot outwards like a series of javelins, that grow back quicker than most would expect.
Together, Ahna and Bahsel travel the lands, always ready for the next adventure.
Skills and Abilities: Ahna has spent years training and being trained in combat, and she has become an expert fighter with two handed pole weapons, daggers, and hand to hand combat, making her a fierce enemy to face, or one hell of a good sparring partner if you don’t mind a few bruises. She also carries a crossbow, but she mostly uses it for hunting. She’s a great shot, but her preference is found in melee.
Before the end times and the escape from the destroyed lands, Ahna was a strong, and sometimes scary mage. The Av’rae are some of the more magically-tuned folk in the old world, and Ahna was no exception, but after travelling away she can feel her powers weaken, as if stopped by something. Normally she could conjured lightning and electricity in the palm of her hand, powering her attacks while also zapping her enemies as needed, and on the rare occasion, under a cloudy sky and with great inner rage, she could even conjure storms, but no longer. Now, she can barely use her magic at all. Perhaps she just needs to find new ways to channel it…
Being a nomad, Ahna is an expert traveller and guide, able to traverse most terrain and survive in some of the more harsh environments, making her an exceptional pathfinder, if asked nicely and presented with enough gold.
Allegiances: The Av'rae people.

Post by Shyv'Ahna on Mar 30, 2021 9:42:53 GMT -5
Ahna perked an ear at Coatl's words, curious at first. He knew things about how animals inhabited lands better than the average person, that was a good sign. "Mm. I was thinking of something similar, but… perhaps not as well put." The Av's eyes scanned the treeline. "My thoughts are more curious. I would expect hooved creatures, the ground is suitable around the treeline." She looked to her side and down at the man with a small smirk. "I think we are all sick of aquatic animals by now, hm?"
As Roxanne spoke of Bahsel's meat, Ahna chuckled a little. She wasn't wrong, Bahsel's meat would be very tough indeed, there was a reason her people very rarely ate his species. The woman shrugs at her comments on leaving, however. "Life on the open road is not for everyone," she admits. "I understand how someone in a city lacks confidence in surviving out here, but my people were doing this for most of our history. It will be a challenge, but I welcome it."
Unfortunately, before Ahna can speak again, Roxanne is pulled away. The Av' raises a brow, then rolls her eyes, but she doesn't pull on the reins to get Bahsel to stop. No, the cart would continue, with or without Roxanne for now.
Thankfully her attention was stolen by the singer once more, the fourth in their merry little band that Ahna seemed to be reluctantly leading. "I would be giving you more than a funny stare if you ate my friend," Ahna says, not looking down at Kat just yet. Her eyes flick over to her as the human put her coat down and gave her a small nod of approval. It's just a coat, why not?
"Look at you, gearing up already," the Av' commented as Bahsel reached the river and began following it, weaving himself and the cart expertly between the trees. Thankfully the treeline was shallow and space at this point. "Do you have water ready?" She asks. "The materials for traps? When I find the right place to set up camp, I can help with both of these things. I have many supplies on hand that will lead to what we need." She taps the wood of her Vardo fondly.

After adjusting his breathing, the various rocks nearby began to lift up and turn. The rocks levitated and began to organize themselves in front of him, he would direct them to go into different piles based on size, color, and luster. Even larger lifted up and moved around. While using his power, a skeletal-looking bird made of stone had appeared perched on one of Wah's horns. It was like a spirit and it was only active when Wah was using his power. Wah stopped and began to explain, "Well, this is just a little bit of what I can do. My power awoke when I was 2 or 3, I made an earthquake happen that broke my house. When my Dad's friend Jun of the Celadine visited, she gave me a small fossil and I was able to make that move too, like it was alive again."

Roxanne eyed the pointy creature suspiciously as she returned to the group, making sure to stay well out of poking range. She'd heard of such animals before, and had heard all manner of tales of stampedes and people getting stabbed all over by the quills. This one seemed docile enough, but one could never tell with these nomads and their beasts. Hadn't her grandmother once told her that she'd seen a child in her village kidnapped and devoured by the horned nomads? She'd always viewed such stories with a certain degree of skepticism, but wasn't it said that every crazy rumor had a grain of truth at its heart? The nomads were a strange folk, and she wouldn't put it past them to have unusual and off-putting customs. After all, why else would a group choose to live life on the road instead of settling down unless every other civilized settlement kicked them out?
"Let's get a move on," she said, leaning away from Katiana's teasing elbow and giving the woman an uncomfortable chuckle. The singing woman kept acting awfully close, which Roxanne wasn't especially keen on. Did Katiana not realize how many sleepless nights she'd suffered due to all her infernal singing? The woman's own caterwauling was bad enough, but when the chorus of drunken sailors and passengers joined in...Roxanne cringed at the memory. Katiana's mention of the leather breast guard raised an eyebrow as well. Roxanne had never felt the need for such a thing, but a quick glance at the woman's chest made it clear that Katiana had a bit more to worry about than she did. Of course, she'd gone and made it weird and awkward. Why did she have to go and do that?
"I...don't think the captain provided one," she said, patting the leather case. "I think I'll be alright, though. Uh...I guess I'll just be careful."
Of course, knowing her luck, Roxanne was certain that she'd end up snapping herself with the bowstring for the first time on this trip. She sighed, shaking her head. The laughter and "I-told-you-sos" rang through her head already, and she just knew that such an incident would likely end up in one of the woman's bawdy shanties. Why in the world had she ended up getting placed with this group?

As Grandma watched Wah Doobie work, the cogs in her mind had already begun to turn. It was certainly a useful ability, especially for reconstruction. But an idea had entered her mind that had little to do with reconstruction…
“That is a rather impressive ability you possess, I see why Naoki sent you to me. You even possess a fair bit of control already it seems.” Grandma motioned to the various piles of rock as she spoke. “So I won’t have to be starting from just the basics if I take you on, which I admit, is preferred.”
Walking over to one of the piles of smaller rocks, Grandma leaned over to inspect them before waving over one of the men tasked with setting up the tents. “Once you’ve set up my tent, take this pile of stones and set them outside it." Turning back to Wah Doobie, the old crone continued.
“Can you move dirt with your ability as well? And if so, do you think you could move enough to hollow out a little cave or crevice? That fossil you’ve reanimated is also rather curious, have you ever been able to pull that off on anything else?”
The fact he had met Jun was quite a coincidence, although to be fair, Jun did get around. For now, she would leave the fact that she also knew Jun a secret, although she might bring it up later if convenient.

"Move dirt? Kinda but not really, I can push it aside with the movement of the rock." Wah walks over to one of those natural rock formations at the waterside and climbs on top of it. He moves his arms and leans and the rock starts pushing through the sand further onto dryer land, leaving a big drag trail behind. After moving 10 feet inland, Wah ducks down and grabs the front of the rock formation and leans back, making the rock tilt until it was sticking straight up. He then drops down onto the ground.
"When I was lost for a while as a little kid I wandered around with an Imp named Appopo, we needed shelter one night and he told me to try to make a cave to sleep in. So I have done that before. In the case of the fossil, I've done it with a cattle skeleton, made it walk. It's the most advanced way I've used my power."

Roleplay posts: 13
Appearance: Elizabeth, or Liz, stands at about 5'9", weighing in at about 160lbs, most of it muscle from years of riding and fighting. She has platinum blonde hair, usually tied in a ponytail to fit inside her helmet. Her eyes are a vibrant shade of green that contrasts well with her tanned skin. She would be considered attractive if she ever removed her armor, otherwise, her face is the only indication that underneath the iron discipline and plate armor is an attractive woman.
Equipment: Liz wears a normal looking set of plate armor that is custom fitted for her specifically, and does not hide her gender. She wields a lance when mounted. Javelins are carried in her mounts saddle. Her mount is a young Griffin by the name of St. George, he is full grown in height, but does not yet have the full mass of a adult griffin. She wears plain clothes when not in armor and her shield bears the symbol of the Dawn Riders on it, and her breastplate bears the symbol of Isra on it. She wears a small necklace with a purple gemstone on it underneath her breastplate, only visible when she is unarmored. Her sword has the insignia of the midnight sun engraved in the hilt, as it is relatively out of sight and does not violate the military dress code. Her sword, a previously powerful and ancient Elven Blade, is now merely ancient, its abilities constrained to the occasional spark of electricity and its ability to shapeshift into a wrist band.
Skills and Abilities: She is a consummate swordswoman and rider, having trained from a very young age to not only fight mounted, but to lead mounted forces in battle. She can ride almost any creature and fight while mounted on it with minimal issues. On the ground she is a good soldier, but mounted she is exceptional.
Biography: She is incredibly strong-willed and stubborn, unlikely to change her course without very good reason. She has a good heart and does what she believes is best, but is not afraid of sacrifice. She is very aggressivee, even reckless, and has little concern for her own safety. She can be cold, distant, and arrogant when around people she doesn't know.

The moment Keph took a step towards the woman, he grimaced and pressed a palm against his lower back. He had just been wondering why he hadn’t felt any pain from slamming into the rock, but there it was—just a tad late to the party. Her concern was dismissed by a wave of his hand. Floating ink again reformed, giving ‘voice’ to the voiceless man, “He’ll be fine. Don’t worry about the ink, it does the talking for him.”From his satchel, a tanned leather pack was pulled. Global flooding hadn’t been his first bad experience with water, and he had long since learned to keep anything easily damaged by liquids within this smaller, waterproofed kit. Tight ropes were undone and leather was stretched out on the sand. Its contents were laid out: various pieces of paper—some written on, others blank—and extra writing supplies. The needed were picked out and organised, the rest returned to their water-safe environment. Despite the fact that this little kit had been made specially to resist water damage, it was still a miracle everything inside had survived Keph’s time in the ocean. “Time to go draw Naoki’s maps!”
It took everything she had not to sigh in exasperation at the oddity before her. If he had been manipulating the ink magically that would be one thing, but it appeared to be sentient! Liz leaned up against her griffin as she watched Keph unpack his kit and reorganize it, absent-mindedly inspecting St. George's feathers while she waited. "Have you ever ridden a griffin before? How quickly can you draw? I can only fly so slow before it becomes falling."

So he couldn’t move dirt directly but could move it with rocks… Grandma pondered this problem for a moment as Wah Doobie continued to demonstrate his ability. He said he’d made a cave to sleep in before, but given the method she could only assume he used to make it, it would require reinforcement to be safe for any long-term living.
However, there were several rocky outcroppings on the beach not too far away…
“Does your power allow you to break or shatter larger rocks into smaller ones, say from that outcropping over there?” Grandma pointed to an outcropping that was several hundred feet down the beach. “Also, how have the mists affected your connection to your abilities?”
Grandma had been asking around about the last question, and as of now her preliminary questioning had resulted in a variety of different answers. Some had completely lost the use of their magic altogether while others simply had a harder time controlling it or weakened potency. Still, if there were any patterns to be found, the old crone was determined to discover them.
“You’ve managed to make a cattle skeleton walk, you say? Hmm, that does sound like something I could help you improve upon, although the mists might make the process a bit more arduous. Still, I’ll see what I can do.”

Having set a secure anchor amidst the other ships in the bay, Oliver lowered the little kayak he used as a tender into the water. Bringing along only his bow, a quiver of arrows, and some rope the small boat bobbed easily, its elk hide skin gleaming above the waterline. He paddled towards an unused section of beach that didn't look too rocky, managing to surf a wave as he neared the shore. So it was with a grin that he set his feat upon the ground of his new home.
A jaunt along the coast described the early yet industrial state of the camp. Idly, Oliver wondered if this would become the site of the first settlement here. It wasn't a bad spot. The near by island and the hills further down the coast had caught his attention however. As much as he wanted to explore this new land however, he felt inclined to off his support. If nothing else he could hunt and survey the forest, but for now, after a few questions, he made his way to a notice board.
