Jace blushes as her breath tickled his ear. "He told me you don't care for parades but I think you're one deserving of celebration." He too leaned into the hug feeling her warmth seep into his body. Jace was not one to receive hugs very often but they're always a blessing when he does.
He quickly cleared his throat when she pulled away announcing that the food has finished. "Oh, the food!" He almost forgot that was what they were doing in the beginning, "perfect, I am famished." He walks over to look at what has been cooking. "Your finger?" He inquires about the little speckles fluttering by her fingers. He sat down by the food serving himself some fish on a stick. A woman like Kua seemed like the type that didn't want to have waited on hand and foot, a strong brave woman that could certainly grab her own servings. Jace always seemed ravenously hungry after he performs those types of rituals, communing with the other side is never for free.

The Faceless began making a short coarse, almost cough-like noise as it layered a hand close to it's bascinet like facial cone. Removing a half shredded chunk of avian viscera, which it offered to the male Trueborn, as if to share some of it's food. Despite sitting casually and practically lazing on the grass, there was something not right about it. It might have been the texture of the 'armour', the lack of vision slits on the cone or how the thing's proportions seemed to be slightly stretched out.
"You don't seem to have taken much food." Travels far analytically mused. Jace would notice that the entrails it had been eating didn't seem to have any teeth marks, just torn strips.

Roleplay posts: 104
Age: 90 (appears early 20s)
Appearance: A thin half-elf, whose olive skin has a greenish tint. Slightly pointed ears. Noticeably wide grin. Dark brown eyes and straight black hair.
Her knuckles are calloused with little scars.
Equipment: A pitch black long coat-style gambeson and a kettle helmet. A longsword inscribed with runes. A pouch of medicinal herbs. A buckler with a long chain attached to it.
A clay flute. A pair of fuzzy pink earmuffs.
A thick black book filled with strange notes...
Skills and Abilities: Kua possesses remarkable gymnastic and martial arts abilities. Her kinesthetic intelligence is very high. She is also a skilled sword fighter and unconventional buckler wielder. Kua also possesses the potential for fire and holy magic. The mists keep it at bay, but the force of her emotions can occasionally overcome it.
She is quite skilled with a flute.
She struggles with complex abstract concepts and mathematics, and demonstrates no social fear. She has a heart condition that requires periodic herbal treatment.
Biography: Kua Redford was born with a disability similar to William's Syndrome. Her parents were overprotective and fearful Kua would never be able to live a normal life. However, Kua also possessed a fierce, independent drive. What started as basic self-defense lessons became an obsession with becoming a warrior so that she could survive on her own.
Kua was enabled by the King of her city-state of Whitehall, a man who saw great potential in her. He had her further trained so she could fulfill her wish of becoming a great paladin someday. Although there were many doubters and Kua's progress was slow, the king went to his deathbed still believing in her dream.
(It didn't hurt that the king was secretly her grandfather. But that is a very long story.)
Because Kua is a half-elf, she ages slowly. Bigots from her world believe her "condition" to be a result of her being a half-breed.

Kua smirked and blushed. "A lot of people deserve celebrations and don't get them. Celebrations are capricious."
She shook her head in surprised when she looked down at her fingers. But when see saw them, they were just ordinary fingers. She did catch a glimpse of the embers following them, but they quickly faded into nothing. What she saw could easily be attributed to a light breeeze.
"Oh, it's ok. I didn't burn myself." She apparently just missed what Jace had noticed.
Kua winced a bit at Travels Far's offer. It was a kind one, but most trueborn were sure to find it disgusting. Still, the fact that Travels Far was willing to make it meant that he felt safe around Jace. Maybe it was time to show Jace a little more trust.
"Jace, Travels Far's people are very kind... But they are not human. Now that we are friends, I think you should know that."

"oh that's good. I was worried about your hands for a moment there but I will not question it if it isn't hurting you."
"Travels Far is not human? Is that possible? I've heard of different beings but one that is sentient and not of human origin is something I have not been able to witness with my own eye. I was not sure what to make of him at first. I have never seen s knight and thought that is just how they were" as Jace watched Travels Far, it all made sense. Jace just thought this poor man did not have any teeth and was using his gums and just swallowing the meat whole. Now that he thinks about it, that doesn't quite make sense either.
"I am happy to know that we are friends. This delights me greatly."

Travels Far seemed to pause, perhaps in thought or perhaps digesting, it was difficult to tell without any facial expressions or identifiable body language, though eventually it spoke again.
"Perhaps you will see the divide of us Jace Trueborn." Came the oscillating voice of the former warrior construct. The tone of it still retained an edge of distrust, yet it was much more subdued by now.
Travels Far having seen the more positive impression that this pallid Trueborn had left upon Kua, was growing more comfortable around Jace still Kua's naïveté and ease of trust could prove troublesome, she seemed...easy to manipulate. Travels Far silently promised a painful death to any who would try such a thing, the memories of the Old Masters, still raw and bitter stung in it's memory like the Silverwater whips they so loved.

Skills and Abilities: Using other members of their species they are able to shape their bodies to look like other species. They can mimic abilities of other species when they shape shift. The abilities they copy are not as strong as the thing they copy, depending on the power level. They first transform into the user and see the ability in action for them to be able to replicate it.

From the river emerged three jellyfish and a large mass of coral-like creatures. The jellyfish stood on top of the blob and looked around, scouting the surrounding area.
The blob looked like as mass of colourful tentacles, hard carapaces, worms and bones. The jellyfish could not speak, not in this form anyways, but it made small squish noises and peeps.
The mass reshaped itself and formed a single, eel-like shape. Reno and their two comrades followed their lead, slithering with them inside the mass of body parts. They started changing their colour, becoming brown and green to match the grass and dirt.
As they slithered they began to hear voices. Quickly they hid behind a large rock and looked around. They saw three new species, all eating.
They saw the knight and knew they where probably dangerous. Reno decided to spy on them from behind the rock while their two comrades began to shape the large blob of limbs into something more useful.

Kua picked up on Travels Far's veiled posturing. Although she felt a little bad for Jace, it reminded her of how readily she had been accepted by the other Faceless, and how grateful (and lucky) she was. Travels Far was a true friend. She was certain they'd eventually accept Jace. The Faceless deserved all the friends in the world after what their kind had been through. She had just as much of a desire to protect them too.
"Save the entrails for yourself. I saved them just for you." She said to Travel's Far, wanting to make them seem like a special gift while saving Jace the embarrassment of possibly heaving.
"Travels Far is strong, and he can eat just about anything with life in it. His people are many, but they are all a little different. They are like a mix of people, cows, and ants. And they are very smart-"
Kua paused. She started to look around. Her slightly above average ears focused on something off in the distance.
There was a particular sound, one she had never heard before but had grown accustomed to while living with the Faceless. It was the faint dragging of ponderous flesh against sand. It wasn't like seals, as they had more of a bounce to them. It was a bit like snakes crawling, but very few snakes lived near the beach, and none were large enough to make a sound like this. Only certain anatomical forms of Faceless made this particular sound.
"Oh, did another Faceless come to join us by the fire?"

The leader fell back, making a splat sound on the sand. Using their sign language Reno informed the other two that they have been detected. The mass of limbs began to look like a pair of legs.
Wasting no time the smallest jellyfish attached itself to the legs and tested their movement. Another mass of limbs looked like a human torso, with tentacles instead of hands. The third jellyfish attached itself inside of it and began moving the torso.
The body parts where not well made, and will take them a some time for them to fuse properly. The leader was annoyed at this, panicking a little and making noise. They already didn't like this.

"Oh, did another Faceless come to join us by the fire?"
That's what Kua Trueborn had said. Travels Far went into high alert, a Faceless would not try to sneak up on another of it's kind, there is no reason to. Adrenal glands had already formed and were pumping throughout the Faceless.
Wordlessly Travels Far stuck it's chitinous hand into the fire, seizing a bubdle of charred branches, it's grip tightened. Not out of pain, an observant eye would see the burning wood buckle slightly under the grip of Travels Far. Perhaps Kua Trueborn had heard some animal of the Isles, but if she had immediately assumed it was a Faceless then it couldn't be anything Trueborn would consider...normal.
Whatever it was, it was either stalking them, or preparing to pounce, if it were a pack hunter then they might already be flanked. Travels Far gave a mental sigh of exasperation, war seems to follow you, no matter how much water flows or how many of your kind die on the journey.
Travels Far finally spoke after what seemed like centuries of silence to it's drugged perception of time.
"Hands on weapons." Came the oscillating voice, now sounding a touch different from before.

"I hope to one day close the divide between us and speak as allies."
"Oh Traveles Far has such a good appetite" Jace comments to Kua. "I've always had a hard time as a child when eating things that were too tough, I have gotten better with age but it was difficult to digest foods." "A mix of people sounds interesting, an ant sounds very cute."
Suddenly Jace noticed the change in the demeanor of the others and whips himself around to face the threat that is upon them. Jace gulps at seeing the tendrils form into what may be the silhouette of a person. He isn't sure what to do, fighting isn't something he's good at. If they can stop the strange creature before it fully forms that may be the best. "I will try to help however I can"

Reno signed at them and the three came from behind their rock. The other two where awkwardly controlling the torso and legs they tried to form. The body seemed to try to mimic a humanoid for., rather badly. Their colorful rainbow bodies didn't make it look any better.
They all leaped at them, trying to look intimidating, but in reality only made themselves look adorable. A few remaining parts jumped with them and attached themselves to Reno, making them look almost like a snake with bone armor.

Kua also noticed Travels Far's change in demeanor. She relaxed her muscles as much as she could. Since her instincts for fear were weak, she needed to rely that much more on reaction speed and muscle memory.
Hands on weapons.
And Kua could move.
She fell back on her gambeson, which she had been using as a blanket, and slipped her hands into the sleeves. She rolled sideways, letting gravity put her jacket on for her, and in the same motion drew her longsword. She was up. It wasn't perfect; her coat was still unbuttoned and her helmet was off, leaving her head exposed. But she had gone from sitting down enjoying a meal to being upright, moderately protected, and standing with a hanging guard (for defense and blocking projectiles) in about one and a half seconds.
Then she quickly ran through her mental checklist.
Aggressive, silent, stalking. These were adequate signs of an enemy. But they also seemed ungainly and colorful, not well equipped for fighting. If they weren't a serious threat, they weren't worth killing. But how not-serious could they be if they were willing to take on a party of three? With one of them being Travels Far?
"I can cover you, Jace." She yelled, inching forward, ready to protect him and back-up Travels Far.

The legs of the body attacked first, trying to charge tackle Kua. The jellies made a war cry that sounded like squeaks. The torso crawled with the legs, following behind them.
Reno slithered towards Travels Far, with a sharpened bone on its tail ready to strike. They analyzed their movements, waiting for them to make a move they could copy.

Crunch.
The still burning, charcoaled wood shattered in the Faceless' grip as it swung them in a wide arc of burning dust, as it did, any facade of a human form was dropped. The arm that was holding the charcoal had unfurled, gaps in milky chitin revealed ruby coloured marbled flesh, it was not sinewy, it was not bloody, it was just...flesh.
By the time the dust had left Travels Far's hand it had already pounced towards the torso and legs, ignoring the other combatant completely. As it leapt it shifted more, the flesh springing free, it almost couldn't be seen tearing its machete free from itself.
What landed mere inches from the gelatinous entities, was not an armoured knight, and had never been to begin with. Oddly jointed legs. Arms that bent too much and not enough. No mouth. No eyes. It was not a creature of nature. It was alive, living and organic. But it was clear to see, this? This was the product of something beyond nature. It was Faceless.
A creature would have snarled, howled, perhaps given some form of boast or battle cry. Travels Far just swung, not swinging like some mindless beast, it swung with form, restraint like something that had seen or experienced martial drills.

The Synchs panicked and backed off, little eyes staring in fear from the swings. This opponent was strong, too strong for them to take on alone. They knew it could probably decimate them now that they where not strong. They wished they had their queen to deal with them, but they where doing this for her so they could not surrender. Reno made some signs warning them to back off and regroup.
They huddled closer to each other and began to do something strange. They bounced and stared at Travels far's movements. Thy began to fuse together, legs and torso fusing into an incomplete body. Reno kept bouncing and watching Travels far's body. Their body slithered to the top, attaching itself like a head. They fusion was shaking in fear but still looked determined.
