A simple tent big enough for a family of four had been pitched up for Csilla. Normally, she should have been rooming with other fortunate survivors, but due to her worsening condition she was accommodated with ample space and privacy. The little effects she had were set to be as "home-like" as possible, with a simple but sturdy cot, a small shelf where colorful threads, needles, and bundles of cotton and wool cloth sat neatly folded. An old doll sat limp next to the cloth, a faded permanent smile offering what little warmth and comfort it could.
Knotted ribbons in colors matching the Pannoa flags were strewn up like garland as if it had been an attempt to make the inside bright and colorful, perhaps to bring a bit of life for its current tenant. There was small table with an embroidery frame on it had what was only a partially finished work of intricate embroidery depicting some kind of scenery, along with scissors, more colorful thread and rolled up cloth. Various completed sewing items like pillows, repaired clothes and the ship sail were left in a basket so it could be picked up and sent where they were meant to be.

The day had turned to nightfall, with the sun allegedly pulling its starry blanket over the world. It was hard to tell what exactly was out there considering the mist hid away the blue sky on most days. Csilla wondered if they truly lived under the same sky she'd grown up knowing. If she could brush the clouds away, would she correctly guess which star would shine the brightest? Could she find their constellations and remember their stories? Would anyone remember her story?
Csilla looked up at the cloud-covered sky from the opening of her tent. She'd pulled a chair closer to it so that she could look up at the sky. As tired as she was, she also felt restless. Despite her carers advising she just rest and build up her strength, she couldn't bring herself to miss any time, least of all to commit to memory the sights, the sounds, the people. The ailing woman closed her eyes tiredly as a surprisingly cold breeze passed her by. The shock of temperature had her let out a labored cough into her handkerchief, one that felt like it went on for ages. The tang of iron was left on her tongue and breath. By the time her coughing fit ended, the cloth she pulled away from her mouth revealed an alarming amount of blood on it. That was how she knew she hadn't long. Her family had gone through this near the end of her suffering. Even if they found a cure, short of the Lord of Light himself intervening, she was beyond help no matter how much the Reverend wanted to give her hope.
As ntrospective as Csilla was, she took a moment to wipe away any blood on her mouth so as to not scare anyone passing her by. For a moment, she considered finally getting some sleep even if she feared not waking up again.

Appearance: Thin and lithe, Vasco is his mother's antithesis, taking only her broad shoulders as his own. His narrow, diamond-shaped face and long features can be seen as striking, if not handsome, by many.
He has a head of immaculately trimmed, dirty blonde hair and it is clear he takes great care of it, trimming and oiling and all the works.
_______________________________________________________
Equipment: Vasco's preferred weapon of choice is a special rapier that houses a thin, hollow chamber typically filled with a neurotoxin found back in their homeland. The chamber can also be filled with other substances.
________________________________________________________
Skills and Abilities: Vasco's vampiric curse can allow him to change her form into several distinct shapes: a shaggy black dog, a blackbird, and an eel.
His senses and natural strength are heightened considerably at night and gutter just as significantly during the day. He has excellent night vision that causes him to be blinded completely in the presence of the sun. Despite this, he does not burn in direct sunlight.
The Correa family's shared ability is that which to create loyal thralls without having to sire them into vampires. Thralls are created with a bite and a magical sigil. Sired vampires are created with a bite from the vampire, and then the ingestion of the vampire's blood. Thralls share a portion of the vampire's strength and can still walk freely in the sun, though with a newfound disdain for it. They are not vampires themselves but have a substantial, artificial fondness for them.

It was here. It had to be. That sweet, coppery scent wafting into his nose and into his lungs- oh! He could almost taste it for how close it was! It was the only thing that distracted the vampire from his rage. He'd artfully slipped around the guards and wound around the tents to avoid any reporting back to Zasha. If she knew that he was sniffing out one of her own, he had no doubt she would be ready to melt his eyeballs out of his head with that holy fire.
He stopped for a moment, back to the young woman sitting in front of her tent. His eyes were searching for something that wasn't there, not in the direction he faced, and he soon realized it when he reeled around. The young man was a little taken aback, but not at all displeased with who awaited him. Unassuming, small, pretty.
Pale.
Sick.
His inquisitive eyes softened as he greeted her.
"Goodness! I wasn't expecting to see someone awake so late. Forgive me, I'm new and I've lost my way." He pressed a hand to his chest and smiled, fangs hidden. "Vasco. You are?"

It was rare to see anyone pass by this late, let alone stop and say hello. Vasco passing by was like a ghost, or an angel, his skin practically glowed in a halo while the world around him distorted. For only a moment Csilla could forget the world was drowned. He spoke, and his voice was as pretty as he was handsome, unnaturally so. She smiled as the man introduced himself. So polite, so strange.
"Csilla. Welcome to the new world, I'm glad you've made it. It is rare nowadays to see someone walking around so late. Were you given a place to sleep?" she asked and then forced herself to stand and meet him with a similar level of respect. She hid her bloodied Handkerchief by pressing it to her chest as she clasped her shawl closed against another cold breeze. With her free hand she made a wide welcoming gesture towards the inside of her tent. Guests seldom came often, and she wouldn't turn down a bit of company even if it was more out of necessity on their part.
"It is cold out here, and you must have had a long day. Come inside, we can try and figure out where you need to go. Have you come alone?"

What gentle angel blessed this woman with such kindness and grace? Vasco was taken aback by her delicate movements, her careful manners, how she tried to hide the blood on her handkerchief even though he could smell it so strongly. And there it was! She offered him into her tent! And he didn't even have to ask. Was such a nieve soul really in the same camp as Zasha? He could scarcely believe it.
"We were. I wasn't told where the tents were being set up, however." A truth, though he'd been with Huey at the time, who could easily feel the presence of the other children. "I came with... a group. Family. They're good at handling on their own, so I'm not too worried." He spoke as he followed her, ducking slightly so he wouldn't knock his head on the entryway. "What of you, Madame Csilla? Or perhaps it's misses?" A smart way to ask if one was married, if one was Vasco Correa. It came off as awful polite, though someone who was knowledgable in such men would know all too well what he was searching for.

Csilla had picked up her chair she had been sitting on and gently set it down as Vasco asked her personal title. She smiled and covered her mouth with the handkerchief as she stifled either a cough or a laugh, perhaps both. "Misses, well... Perhaps someday," She lied, "Its just me here. I'm the only one in my family who got to see the new world. Please make yourself at home."
The sick woman brought her chair over to her workstation, though left it in such a way for Vasco to take a seat there should he so choose. Once her task was done she was pensive for a moment where she tried to recall if she'd overheard where they were planning on expanding but nothing quite came to mind. She then decided to try and guess based on what she'd seen from her strolls. Nothing came up then either. She looked upon the gentleman before her with some sympathy.
"Its too bad everyone who would know where your family could be have likely gone to sleep by now. I hate to disturb them so late. I know it wouldn't be around here, at least."

Her words made him hesitate. The only one who got to see the new world? Vasco, himself, wouldn't have minded that, but he knew the importance of family to others. To be a young woman, all alone in a strange place at the end of the world... and oh! How sad her voice was even though she tried to hide it! His heart, though cold and hardly beating, ached for her in so many ways.
Though he contemplated the seat, he left it for Csilla. She was the sick one, after all, and he wanted to be able to pivot to the entrance of the tent at the right moment. He did take a glance outside to make sure no one was peeking their way. To his luck, they weren't.
"Not a problem at all. Perhaps I should find them with enough walking around, though my feet are a bit wary and my head spinning from doing it so long already. I appreciate your hospitality." He paused to think, looking at her. "Why wouldn't it be around here? And, speaking of which, why up so late when everyone else has laid their head to rest long ago?"

It was Csilla's turn to pause as Vasco inquired into her reasons for being up so late while others, maybe not so happily, drifted to dreams. That moment taken to debate whether to tell him the truth. He would find out regardless, especially since he was settling in Pannoa from her understanding at least. It would be wrong to lie to him only for him to eventually discover the truth.
"This side of the tents are for the ill and the old. They keep things quiet here so people can rest, recover, or at least not spend their final days in destitution. We are kept fed, and they send care to check on us to make sure we are not want for anything. I'm very thankful to the Reverend for the accommodations." She explained and then her eyes drifted over to her embroidery frame with the unfinished artwork of threads. "I was up trying to finish this embroidery here. The sickness that claimed my family before they saw the new world is about to claim me too. My days are drawing short, and since I've not long left I want to see it finished as a gift for the Reverend and his daughter. Its for all the hard work and love they've given not only us but to everyone who has been in need. It won't be much help to them, but I'm not quick-witted and it's all I could think of."

Vasco's eyes widened. He suspected it, of course, but he never expected her to be so close to death. She looked sickly, smelled sickly, and sounded it, but she didn't look ready to drop just yet. If she truly thought her time was coming to an end, however, his plans for her would be reduced to a much shorter version than originally thought. Hmph. No matter; that just meant the excitement started sooner.
"That can't be," he said, crestfallen. His shoulders sank and his expression softened further. "Is that what this is?" Gently, he reached for her hand with the handkerchief in it, and if she allowed him to, he would turn her hand around and open it to reveal the blood within. His grip was tender but firm. "You are much too young to die, madame. This will not do."

Csilla was somehow surprised once Vasco had stepped within arms reach let alone touched her hand. She didn't quite know how to handle such a situation. By the time she realized the purpose of the action, her hand had already been turned over and the bright red contrasting against surprisingly clean white. For a moment she didn't know what to say other than stare at it, her eyes only raising to meet the taller man with soft bewilderment.
"How did you-" She didn't finish her sentence that Vasco proclaimed "this will not do" as if he somehow intended to remedy the situation. Her brow furrowed upwards and she brought her handkerchief back to her chest. "They haven't even found a cure yet and they've tried everything they do know. I'm not sure what else could be done at this point 'lest the lord wills it otherwise..."

He smiled at her patiently. "It was easy to tell. You have all the signs of it. Consumption, we called it. It spread across my homeland of Rondon long ago and killed many, but we did find a cure. It comes with a few sacrifices, but what's a couple compared to the price of living?" The lies rolled off of his tongue smooth as velvet cloth and twice as enticing. His smile faded as he looked upon her, replaced by incredible concern. "Do you want to live, Csilla?"
Vasco was aware that they'd only just met mere minutes ago and that such an offer was swift, perhaps out of place, but those who were desperate and short on time didn't have the luxury to contemplate. He just hoped she was not so eager to see her loved ones that she had come to terms with her mortality.

There was something in what he said that made Csilla pause with hesitation. He looked sincere, but Sacrifices were an odd way to phrase a price. A price was usually an exchange, but this didn't feel like the typical exchange of money, goods or services. Despite her hesitation, when he'd asked if she wanted to live, she quickly nodded. "Of course I want to live! I love my family, but I am the only one here who still remembers who they were. I just... Can such a thing really be possible?"
Csilla turned away from him as if averting her eyes would help her thin that through. "When you say sacrifices.. What sort of sacrifices do you mean? Shouldn't a cure just be that? A cure? You can't really expect me to believe such a miracle exists." Her fingers fiddled with the handkerchief, the fabric twisting and wrinkling in the process. "I may be ill, but I don't want to be promised anything that can't happen."

"As possible as a breath of air. I promise you will be able to overcome it, but it is up to you." Vasco raised his hand and held up two fingers. "The first sacrifice will be mine. We must give you strength to battle the consumption, and you will be drawing from my own. You needn't worry: I have strength in droves. The second sacrifice, however..." He cast his eyes down, unsure of whether he wanted her to hear this. "The second... will be yours. It is a blood-letting ritual that tethers you to me, you will find our thoughts, our emotions, intertwining. You will be a little less yourself, as would I, and we would be a little more one another. If you think about it... it's a bit like a relationship. I could not ask such a thing from you when we've only just met, however. You may take as much time as you like to think about it, and in the coming days we make come to know one another more."
Vasco turned around, looking out at the pale moon with a sigh. "That is... a lot to process, I understand."

There was no response for a long moment as Csilla's fingers continued to twist the bloodied cloth in her hands. What the stranger described seemed more like marriage if only described by romantic metaphors. The whole thing from the start seemed absolutely absurd... But he spoke with such conviction that she wanted to believe him. Perhaps because it had been the first time someone had said exactly what she wanted to hear the whole time, that he not only had a cure, but was willing to treat her. She very well already owed him her life, what would be marriage by that point would be but a small repayment?
Vasco suggested she take the time to think it over and get to know eachother, and that added to his sincerity. It was enough for her to trust him, and it was an opportunity she didn't want to squander should there be even the slightest chance. Csilla turned to face the man again, reaching out towards his hand but stopping just short before she'd bring her hands to her side.
"I'll do it. I'm not entirely convinced this will work the way you say it will, but... I'm not ready to leave. There is so much I must do. Please- .." she brought her handkerchief to cover her mouth as a hard coughing fit shook her body. She had to step back from Vasco and and braced herself on her workstation until she found enough air to move and sit down on her cot. She focused on taking those few precious breaths though she felt suddenly very drained. Csilla's eyes pleaded to him for his help.

Vasco's hand came up to his lips in what looked like surprise, when in fact he was hiding his grin. It took him a good moment to compose himself and wrestle it off his face, giving the impression of combatting complicated feelings. Once he gained control, he sunk down to one knee and stood before her, taking one of her delicate hands. "What courage you have in the face of death! You have my word that it will not go to waste. Not one drop of it!"
Turning her hand over, he traced his fingers over her skin, making circles. "The ritual requires a sigil. You may choose where it goes. My suggestion is somewhere hidden, as not to alarm the others in the camp."
He kept his face as straight and adoring as possible, but it was so hard. Had he ever fished one this quickly before? Oh, he couldn't remember the last time! It had been so long since he was surrounded by the gullible and desperate who were also fair and innocent as she, this Csilla! Oh, lovely little Csilla.
