Csilla thought about this sigil she suspected Vasco was tracing in her hand. The way he spoke, they way he looked at her, she could swear on her relatives that his intentions were pure even if his self reported methods seemed no short of a miracle. She wondered why bother hiding such a mark that would serve to give her life again, but perhaps he was right. Others had already spent so much time helping and being concerned for her, she should do her best to alleviate that burden on them.
Without a word she withdrew her hands from the man and undid the lace at the collar of her dress simply to loosen it. She sacrificed a bit of modesty by exposing her pale but unblemished left shoulder and collarbone. With a hand she patted her back shoulder. "Place it here. As long as I remain in modest dress, no one shall see it let alone know aside from a future husband."

Appearance: Thin and lithe, Vasco is his mother's antithesis, taking only her broad shoulders as his own. His narrow, diamond-shaped face and long features can be seen as striking, if not handsome, by many.
He has a head of immaculately trimmed, dirty blonde hair and it is clear he takes great care of it, trimming and oiling and all the works.

Equipment: Vasco's preferred weapon of choice is a special rapier that houses a thin, hollow chamber typically filled with a neurotoxin found back in their homeland. The chamber can also be filled with other substances.

Skills and Abilities: Vasco's vampiric curse can allow him to change her form into several distinct shapes: a shaggy black dog, a blackbird, and an eel.
His senses and natural strength are heightened considerably at night and gutter just as significantly during the day. He has excellent night vision that causes him to be blinded completely in the presence of the sun. Despite this, he does not burn in direct sunlight.
The Correa family's shared ability is that which to create loyal thralls without having to sire them into vampires. Thralls are created with a bite and a magical sigil. Sired vampires are created with a bite from the vampire, and then the ingestion of the vampire's blood. Thralls share a portion of the vampire's strength and can still walk freely in the sun, though with a newfound disdain for it. They are not vampires themselves but have a substantial, artificial fondness for them.

"And may he regard it with the utmost understanding," replied Vasco, scarcely diverting his gaze from her movements as she pulled down her collar. "You should close your eyes. There will be a little pain, but it will be over fairly fast if you're not paying it too much attention."
If she obeyed, he would take a quick step over to the entrance of the tent to close the flap. Slowly, he moved over behind her, passing a thumb over her pale skin. "If you're frightened, I can lend you a hand to hold."
He wasn't quite sure why he asked. His fangs had already slipped out, the anticipation of piercing her flesh driving him to a point of no return. Regardless, he hesitated, waiting for her answer.

Despite Csilla's weakened body, something in her senses told her to be wary, as if there was a danger she couldn't see. Vasco seemed kind enough, so she wasn't sure where this gut instinct stemmed from and yet despite the quickened beating of her frail heart she closed her eyes. She kept them closed as the sounds of the flap of the tent was pulled for their own privacy, and they remained closed even as he'd settled behind her. For all of this, she could ignore the bell ringing in her mind warning her that something was wrong, if only for the slightest chance she could live beyond the next day.
He offered to lend his hand, and though for a moment she thought about being too proud her hand reached for his with a firm grip for an ailing person. Her fear couldn't be hidden as her blood pulsed thickly under her skin. "I'm ready.." Or so she thought.

He could hear it clear as day, that fragile little heart working as hard as it could in her fright. The green of his eyes became eclipsed by his black pupils, draining them of every human emotion he'd shown her that evening. The moment she gripped his hand, he spurred forward, sinking those needle-thin fangs into her shoulder. The pain would have been sharp and fresh, like a large splinter, but the longer the drain continued, the more numb it became. Vasco's grip on her tightened, and as it did, a dizzying, warm feeling, much like being half asleep during a rainstorm, would wash over sick, little Csilla. It was much like being taken by a current, the way it willed her down, down, deeper into the depths of unconsciousness.
Then, all at once, she would find herself snapping back, perhaps with a gasp, perhaps with a sigh, as though rudely awakened by a clap of thunder. Vasco was on his knees, thumb dancing over her shoulder as he drew the sigil of the Dip and the Correa House while his other hand was clasped over his mouth. How long had it been since he partook of human blood? Months, at least, and stopping himself from draining Csilla dry was taking every ounce of willpower he could muster. He'd forgotten how warm, how sweet, how addictive the taste was. Ambrosia was nothing in comparison.
"... it is done," he croaked, turning away from her. "It is done."

As much as Csilla had wanted to be brave throughout the process, the second those two needles pierced her skin there was a short gasp as her eyes shot open in alertness, her voice cutting just short of silence but not enough to cause a disturbance. She could feel his mouth against her shoulder and she realized he'd bitten her of all ways. the shock of the realization had initially kicked her instincts into survival mode where she pushed against him, yet his grip on her only tightened and firmly locked her in. The line of who was clinging to who blurred, but despite the racing of her heart she felt a distant memory of drunken summer nights cloud her thoughts and render her sluggish. It was so warm, so comfortable. The pain her her lungs ceased, as did the new pain in her shoulder and there was a sense of peace and relief in the dizzying sensation in her mind.
Then it all came rushing right back with a start. Suddenly she could feel it all, the haze in her head was gone, and she was left feeling cold and somehow.. empty. The sensation of Vasco's thumb was the only comfort she had, and somehow that confused her feelings further on what had just occurred, or rather how it had occurred. It felt violating just as it felt like the right thing to do, because it would make Vasco happy. This stranger, happy. this stranger who had offered her help from the kindness of his heart.
Csilla was at a loss for words as she sat on her cot exactly as she was when it all began. She opened her mouth to try and say something, and for a moment she wanted to get angry for not telling her about what exactly he was doing, but turning to look at the vampire facing away from her extinguished that fire nearly immediately. In its place there was concern over the way he held his hand over his mouth. She reached out to him and should he let her, would place her hand on his back lightly. "Are you okay?"
Part of her understood the irony. She was the one who'd lost blood, and yet she was the one comforting him over it. Perhaps she should, she was the one who asked this of him, the blame lied with herself, not him. No... He omitted the truth, and that was wrong- But he did it for good reason no doubt. These feelings and thoughts conflicted with each other. Suddenly the adrenaline could finally leave, and she felt drained.

Quickly, he nodded. His tongue swished around his mouth, trying to get the taste of her blood to the back of his throat and out of his mind. He felt the curse pulling him toward Csilla, willing him to finish what he'd started, but Vasco had been this way his entire life. He knew when to stop. He knew how to fight it.
With a heave, he swallowed all that was left on his teeth and in the folds of his gums. He stilled the part of him that was ravenous and wild, bringing to surface the man who had masterminded the manipulation in the first place. Though slow, his pupils narrowed once again to slits, and the green swirled like spring lilies in a pond. He rose to his feet, one hand holding gently onto Csilla's. "I am, now that you are," he said, smiling. He didn't hide his fangs this time. "How do you feel?"
There were at least several sensations that she might have noticed. One, that the tent was much brighter than she'd previously noticed. Every little fold of her blankets and trinket atop tables and chests could be perfectly seen in crisp detail. Yes, indeed, they were much clearer than ever before. Next was how light she was, as though she weighed no more than a feather. It didn't feel as though she was walking at all, and was instead floating. Not only that, but the soft snoring of all her neighbors reached her ears, just a layer of noise above their beating hearts and occasional shuffling.
"Is it not incredible?"

Csilla could feel a tension in Vasco's back that quickly relaxed under her touch. She wondered what kind of conflicting feelings he was having and if any of them were shared with her own. It felt too rude to pry, and in all honesty, perhaps she was afraid of the answer. In a flash he seemed back to his old charming self, as if nothing had happened between them that was anything bu respectful.
Her eyes widened at the sight of his teeth as if there was some kind of realization. She had mistaken him for human, but he was far from it. Yet, the word didn't want to escape from her lips. Perhaps what happened wasn't malicious, simply instinctual. That she could more than forgive. Solidifying this was him asking how she was feeling, and in all honesty, it took him asking for her to realize just how different yet the same everything seemed.
A new way to see combines with a new set of sounds, some not as pleasant but their presence made the cacophony no less awe inspiring. What stuck her the most were all the colors and threads on her embroidery piece. She could see in clear detail the vividness of the colors and any mistake she might have made in the work, mistakes she could yet fix, and would have plenty of time to do so.
"I've never seen the world like this- I feel so light, and I can hear things I'm... sure I shouldn't be." She then glanced over at Vasco proper. "What... what exactly are you? You who sees the world this way?"

Vasco prepared for this question in advance, like he knew he would. He couldn't tell her anything but the truth, but what was the truth if not a little bent? He put a finger up to his lips, silently asking her to be discreet about what she was going to be told.
"Your protector, she used the word vampyr. There really is no hiding it, is there? With all I've done." He reached out to move a hair out of Csilla's face tenderly. "What I will say is that it isn't like the myths and stories of old that you've heard. In my world, we were thaumaturgists: miracle givers. An exchange was always needed but in the interest of the greater good, and it almost always helped those we sought to help. It's alarming, I know. I hope you aren't too upset with me for not telling you everything from the start, but I haven't lied to you once. I just didn't want the word to scare you so much when so much of what people say about us is the real lie."
Reaching for her hand for what was perhaps the third time that evening, he sought to place it on his chest. "You have my word that you will stay alive to do whatever you like. You are not like me, a vampyr, but you do benefit from my strength, and you do share some of my weaknesses. The sun may annoy you, but you are free to walk beneath it still. You will not feel so flightly during the day as you do at night, but do take advantage of it. You seem a night owl already."

The way Vasco urged Csilla's discretion, she steeled herself for a horrible truth. He way he swept her hair out of her face, the gentle touch on her skin soothed her even as he uttered such a terrifying word, vampyr. Tales of them from the older folk who either swore to have witnessed them themselves or generally insist they exist usually met the younger generations ears with skepticism including her own. Yet, here this man she never met was, looking not much older than she did claiming to be one. After everything she'd felt, she believed him.
The story the vampire gave was far different than the tales she'd heard. Thaumaturges- Miracle givers- The way he phrased it made all the more sense for why he'd offer his help to her. He had omitted it to protect her from fear, but was she not capable of making that decision herself? No, it wouldn't be right to scold the man who saved her life, vampyr or not. He was right, he didn't lie, and that had to count for something. She wasn't turned to become like him, she was simply borrowing his strength to let the disease run the remainder of its course.
Csilla's delicate hand was placed on his chest with no resistance or objection. She sighed while looking into his unnatural eyes and then reached up to cup his face. Her thumb ran down the side of his cheek before her hand dropped back to her side. "I believe you. Thank you, Vasco. This opportunity you've given me, I won't squander it. I won't tell a soul if you don't want me to." It was then her body decided sleep would be good, now that it reached a level of calm once again. She withdrew her other hand from his chest. "Should I still be feeling so tired?"

The way Csilla looked at Vasco with those doe eyes was dangerous. They pulled on the strings of his heart and swarmed him with thoughts he had to push away... for now. Oh, but did that softness of hers tempt him so! It was only her complaints that steadied him, and while he was aware of the power he had over her, he was also aware of his responsibility: the proper way to go about these things, as his mother would say.
"Of course," he said, moving one arm behind her back and sweeping the other under her knees so that he could scoop her up in his arms. "Even if you do lend from my strength, so much has happened to you today. Your body simply cannot keep up." How small she was in his grip, like a wee lamb. He carried her over to her cot, gently laying her there. He took hold of her hand before leaving, kissing her knuckles gently. "Sleep well, knowing you shall see another day. And another." He backed away, slipping his fingers from hers. "And another."
And then he was gone, as though he never was. As though he were a nightmare turned into a sweet dream.

Csilla had to avert her gaze when Vasco stepped closer and placed his arm on her back. Had she been forewarned she might have been able to protest against the sudden upward movement of her legs as the vampire quite literally swept her off her feet with such ease he may as well have been holding a cloth doll. Reflexively, she wrapped her arms around his neck, clinging to his shirt to have something to hold on to should he suddenly drop her. While she'd felt some of his hidden strength while in his clutches, it was now that it became as obvious as daylight that he was a far stronger man than he appeared.
The tension in the hands that clung to him released while his voice soothed like a lullaby. Regrettably, Vasco set her down in her cot, but graced her hand with a kiss, something that made her healing heart flutter. She mustered a smile, though a wave of heavy exhaustion washed over her in a wave that dragged her under more forcefully than the last. With his face and voice burned into her memory her eyes finally closed, and as soon as they did she was resigned to a deep slumber that ended a strange dream.

_______________________________________________________
Equipment: Vasco's preferred weapon of choice is a special rapier that houses a thin, hollow chamber typically filled with a neurotoxin found back in their homeland. The chamber can also be filled with other substances.
________________________________________________________

The next day...
Vasco and Csilla arrived at her tent after their argument with Hævis. It wasn't often for Vasco to return to his... patients dwellings so soon. Normally, he'd have to wait for things to die down, for parents to get over their suspicions, and for guards to resume their normal schedules. But here? Here, she had no parents or guards to speak of! They were all gone! The man could only smile.
Softly, he pulled Csilla close to him, then knelt before her. "You are still feeling weak?" he asked, rubbing his thumbs gently over her hands as he inspected the veins, then lifted himself to look into her eyes. He brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

Csilla entered the tent she called her home and pulled the flap closed with a gentle tug on the sides to ensure it provided the privacy they were looking for. Just as she turned to face her guest once more the man had guided her right to him before taking to a knee. Her cheeks reddened faintly as she recalled this was against the rules of propriety.. though by now, what was propriety between them?
As Vasco asked about her weakness she smiled and averted her eyes a bit shyly. "Ah, this is nothing compared to before.. I promise I'll be alright." Her hands were as cold as porcelain. Once the vampire stood again, her eyes locked with his for a moment. The seamstress felt content as her heart fluttered at his undivided attention. "What of you?" she asked as she reached up to cup his cheek in her hand, brushing her fingers down gently. "You seemed so stressed.."

Vasco clasped his hand over hers, closing his eyes with a soft smile. His chest heaved in a sigh, half of bliss, half of his weariness, as she asked him how he was. He curled his fingers into her palm and dropped their hands down by their sides. "Csilla, let us sit. There is much I have to explain to you. I wished to keep the truth hidden for you, should it frighten you so, but we cannot do that anymore." He led her over by the bed, gesturing for her to rest. He did not join her.
With his own hands clasped together at his chest, he broke their gaze, eyes down on the floor. "How much... have you surmised from your interactions with us? With my mother. With the children." He raised his eyebrows, looking at her from beneath his bangs. "With me."

The gentle woman was guided by Vasco to sit, and she didn't argue against him. She sat down just like the night before as he asked his reasonable question to her. How much had she noticed about the odd behavior... But unlike Haevys she didn't want to draw any hasty conclusions. Her guardian angel deserved better than that. "I'll admit, I'm not sure how... human, you all are. Even so, I can't say that is the part that scares me. Your mother she-" something told her to choose her words carefully. "Seems like she has a big heart with so many children. But she also seems domineering and strict. I'm afraid she won't much approve of me, much less tolerate me."
She looked up at the man who also appeared to be experiencing a bit of awkwardness, maybe he was worried she'd rather stay away. "But I don't care how hard it might be going forward, I only wish to stay by you!" she quickly assured, "I was so afraid something would happen to you in the mist, please, I don't want to be alone anymore." the seamstress practically begged him, innocent eyes looking pleadingly at him.
