The eye-catching clear river flows down from the mountains ever towards the coast. Its water has teal sheen and a gem-like quality. It is plentiful, a have for both prey and predator.

Tanneth walked down the side of the river, his focus somewhere between the pristine beauty of the flowing water and his energetic companion. Their goal was simple, to find others on this island... if it was a island. Tanneth was too sure how far the land extended and where it ended. For all he knew it breached the horizon and beyond. The poet sighed and cheekily smiled, "You know maybe Diamond wasn't the best name for this river, maybe Emerald would have been better."
He glanced at Red, wondering if she would offer her opinion on the matter, before concluding, "Granted I've never seen either of those rocks. Only through tall tales and drunken men have I had the idea that they existed. Through my many adventures, I quickly learned that alcohol was a viable method to learn something from someone. Did I say many adventures? I mean the two or three I where I wandered town and talked to people, basically just that. Walking and talking. It was invocative."
That last word 'invocative' had the heavy tone of sarcasm escaping from his voice. Tanneth smiled, "This hike beats all of them in sheer inspiration for my poems."

Appearance: Red hair, blue eyes and a big fluffy red tail, standing at 149 cm tall
Equipment: A ornate quiver with a red fox carved into it, a longbow and three small knives hiding behind the quiver
Skills and Abilities: An amazing shot with a bow and arrow, Red is also very nimble and fast and a really good climber, stealth
Biography: It was the dead of night, Red was sitting outside of a cave, inside more of her kind were sleeping, the dawn was coming and they would often hunt during the night, Red was still very young and knew nothing of the outside world
As she looked up to the sky she heard a weird noise coming from the trees ahead, she quickly went inside in a attempt to hide. She was curious, what could've been that noise ? Where did it came from ?
She dipped her head out the cave, looked around, her ears shifted as she was trying her best to hear any other noises, she heard a animal squeal, maybe a rabbit ?
She followed the sound to find a small rabbit stucked on a trap, almost dead, she circled the animal on all fours, sniffing it and the trap, she stopped, and tried messing with the trap, maybe she could open it and have a free rabbit for herself
The rabbit had stopped moving but Red wasn't even close to open the trap, that's when she heard the sound of a stick breaking, she turned her head and her eyes met with the eyes of a human, she froze for a second, he had a bow in one shoulder and an axe in the other.
She looked at him with her eyes wide open, that was her first time seeing a human, the man stepped forward, she stopped back
"It's okay, said the man, I'm not going to hurt you," said the man, stepping forward one more time
She was curious about the man but also cautious, the man slowly put his items on the ground and said "are you lost ?"
At first he didn't notice the tail or the ears, walking one more step forward and with the light slowly getting more brighter with a new day coming he realised she wasn't a human child but a vulx
"Are you..." Before he could complete his words Red took off running, the man stopped for a second, thought to himself, then quickly picked up his stuff and chased the girl
"Hey, wait, don't go that way, it's dangerous," he shouted as he ran after her
Red was running in a completely different direction than the cave she was outside of, she was fast, and the man couldn't keep up, but she fell as the same time as a clanking sound could been heard, with no clue to what just happened she looked ate her leg
She had been caught in a trap much similar to the one with the rabbit, the trap had metal bits that would quickly snap together much like a bear trap but it was smaller, although it didn't broke any of her bones, the trap still hurt a lot and she let out a sharp cry of pain
The man found her quickly, he approached her saying in a gentle voice "it's okay little one, i'm going to help you okay"
As he reached for the trap, Red scratched the man's arm, in response he tried to calm her down, and slowly reached for the trap again
"I can get you out of there, I'm going to help you" he said pressing on a small lever on the side of the trap and pulling it open
She quickly tried to get away but couldn't , the man slowly approached her speaking in a calm voice "if you let me carry you, I'll bring you to my cabin and I will heal you." He patted her on the head and them took her with him, once on the cabin he took a look at her ankle "you won be able to move for a while, but i'll take care of you." He pointed at himself "Anderson." He did that a couple of times then pointed at her but she didn't knew how to talk "well, i'll just call you Red then"
For the next few weeks he would treat her, feed her and make sure she was worm. Her, in the other hand seemed to mimick him and was learning fast but still wasn't able to talk.
Everything stayed the same for a while, there wasn't much for her to do but Anderson tried his best to teach her words and even showed her his books but with no success, he told her stories and shared his experiences, but after some time she was healed and he decided to take her back
Anderson was visibly upset about that, it was he's dream to have a family but wasn't able to have kids but the forest was her home. He took her to the spot where she found her, this time she came walking on both feet
"As promised, now that you're better I brought you home," he said
"N n n no" she said
"You can speak ?" He's eyes shot open
She pointed at herself and continued "o o o out a sider."
Although she was born with the others, she never felt like she belonged, there was some much to be learned and she had grown attached to the man

"I think that 'Diamond' it's a good name,"she said a she walked along the river. Red's hips would sway, side to side, as her tail would go in the opposite direction
"Well, hopefully we'll have a bunch of adventures in this place," Red said, turning around and walking backwards to face Tanneth "this time it'll be truly invocative."
Red stopped for a second so she could walk side by side with Tanneth "well, if you come up with something make sure to remember it and recite it. I've been loving your poems."

"I'm sure that every day will be an adventure, this is a new land!" Tanneth laughed, "It holds so many mysteries and things yet to be discovered."
Tanneth smiled, "I'll be sure to keep track of them for you. and once I can make that hide into parchment, I'll write them down. I'll share that with you, so you can read them at any point and if you can't read my writing I'll show you how. It might take some time to do all of that though, so I hope you're willing to be patient with me while I take my time to write them down."
The poet let his arm hang low and his hand brushed against Red's. Tanneth grinned and looked down the river, continuously searching for some sign of people.
Unaware to Tanneth there was a sound coming from the forest to their left, perhaps it was some animal, but it was certainly a creature of some kind.

Red walked casualty along side Tanneth when she heard a noise from the forest, whatever it is, Tanneth didn't seem to notice, maybe it was far
She stopped walking and put her hand on Tanneth's shoulder "there's something in the forest, in that direction." She pointed to where the noise came from "I don't know what it is yet," She said, trying to catch a scent of what made the noise

Red wouldn't smell something immediately. It may have been the scents coming from the river or her companion Tanneth, but whatever made that sound was easily too far away to tell apart from the earth scents of dirt and plants. However, her instincts might alert her that there were a set of eyes watching them.
Tanneth looked into the forest where she point and saw nothing but bush and wood. He tilted his head, "Something? Should we run, fight, bargain away our souls?"
That last suggestion was said with Tanneth's usual tone of sarcasm. Given his tone of voice, he didn't seem too concerned about it. Perhaps Tanneth was being naïve. Tanneth spoke, "It's probably a forest creature that is climbing up a tree. Sometimes those things jump down on the ground and make a noise. I'll trust your instincts but that's what comes to my mind."

"Tanneth," she said, "I'm the one who spent their whole life on a forest, so please no sarcasm."
Red was trying to concentrate on her nose, whatever it was, it had company, a few seconds of silence went by "either they smell like dirt and grass or they don't smell of anything but there's something there, maybe a few."
Red's mind quickly went through animals who hunt in pack and the only thing she could think of was a wolf, but there was no smell wolves
"Tanneth, behind me now ! I think we might be dealing with some kind of wolf pack, make sure to watch around us and we move quickly to somewhere we would have advantage, I don't want to be ambushed by wolves today. let's go !"

Tanneth decided to quiet himself after Red's response to his sarcasm. He didn't want to end up souring their companionship. Whatever she heard it bothered her and it could have been a predator.
Tanneth scanned the surrounding area with his eyes, he wasn't looking for the source of the sound, but rather something he could use. He spotted a staff-like pole, it would be perfect but it was too close to the treeline. Red sounded convinced that there's something here. Tanneth not so much, but of the two she had the stronger senses, so he chose not to question it.
Tanneth got behind her when she told him. Red thought it might be wolves. Tanneth frowned, if it was wolves, then they would continue to stalk them for miles. Tanneth spoke up, "Moving is all well and good, but wolves exist in prairies like my homeland as well, often feeding on stray cattle and sheep... They'll seek to surround us."
He would follow Red as they leaved the immediate area.

Every hair and fur on Red's body was standing up, she was in high alert and they both moved quickly
After a couple of minutes she could finally smell something but their smell blended in with the nature, but now she knew for sure it was some type of wolf and they seemed to be close
"Tanneth, we need to find a place where we know we won't be atacked for behind, maybe a deeper part of the river, or a very open area that we could see them coming if they decide to attack," she said
Red looked worried and on her guard, she also had her bow in her left hand, "Tell me if i'm going to fast ok," she said, checking on Their surroundings so they wouldn't be ambushed

Tanneth kept to her pace as best as he could, nearly tripping more than he wanted to admit. His idea to improvise a spear would need to wait. Tanneth had the grand fortune, or rather misfortune, of tripping over a river-side stone and landing on his face. The world spun around him as he dizzily got back up. In a moment he spoke up, "Why are those bushes moving?" The poet held up his arm in a direction towards the treeline, although his recent fall made it impossible for him to hold his arm still. It swayed slightly back and forth. Regardless of the fall, Tanneth was right, in that general direction, three things that were best described as bushes danced along the brush, as if they were flanking the travelers. Stones clattered in front of them as two of these bush-like wolves stood in front of them snarling fiercely. A third jumped behind them. Their fur was like the leaves seen on many of the plants hear, green and healthy. They stood taller than any wolf, Tanneth have ever heard of, their ears easily reaching the height of Tanneth's chest. Tanneth unsheathed his dagger, unknowing of what help a small weapon would be in this situation. Tanneth stuttered, looking into the pale white eyes of the wolves, "Ah! Red any ideas!?"

"ha !" Red gave a short laugh when Tanneth pointed to the bushes "That explains why they were so hard to smell."
The Vulx had a smile on her face, she seemed more excited than afraid, but afraid she was "Fuck !" She exclaimed as she saw the third one
Red was ready, her heart was racing and her mouth was dry, she stared at the two beasts in front of her and pulled two arrows and ready her bow "we stand our ground, they might not attack, if they charge I will try to hit the two in front, you try to dodge the one behind and it jumps to get you, if I hit my shots we should be good."

Tanneth nodded, although Red likely wouldn't see it. He held his dagger in front of him and remembered something.
Although they come at us with glaives Remember the fierceness of the waves Remember the lives we lost Remember the what it costs We stand here and now And we shall never bow Stand strong as a wall And we shall never fall
Tanneth finished reciting the poem. It was not one he wrote, but one that he heard. A wandering bard told him of battle-cry of warriors and how it inspired him to write this poem. It gave the poet a sense of strength and calmed his nerves. Tanneth revaluated their odds. Three to two. It was doable. Tanneth smiled and calmly spoke, "I like these odds."
The wolves were beginning to circle the two travelers, as if seeing if there was some fault they could exploit. It was clear by their behavior that these wolves had not encountered anything like Tanneth and Red before, and as such they were both wary and curious. Perhaps the two had entered their territory, or this small pack was hunting, as of right now it was unknown.

Red had her bow at the ready, she held her bow with her left hand, she had one of the arrows between her fingers in that same hand. Her right hand pulled the how's string
They were surrounded, Red's aim shifted from one wolf to the other as they circled them
Red tried sniffing the air to mark their scent in her head so situations like this could be avoided. Their smell were very close to the nature around them but the meat that Tanneth carried didn't
"Tanneth, throw the meat to the opposite direction we were going, i think they might be interested on that, if they don't stop circling us and go for the meat after that i'm shooting," she said

Tanneth thought about it and threw the meat a good ten yards away and towards the treeline. Tanneth grabbed Red's hand and said, "I like that idea, but I just thought of a better one. Shooting takes time, let's just focus on distancing ourselves from them."
The wolves predictably ran after the meat, leaving the travelers a brief moment of respite. After a moment they claws through the hide and began tearing at the smoked flesh. The largest of the three took its mouthful and ran off into the forest. Tanneth didn't watch, as he was more concerned with leaving the area entirely.

Both ran away from the wolves, her vein were full of adrenaline as she ran shoulder to shoulder with Tanneth, she turned her head to face the man
If he would look, Tanneth would see A gigantic smile on Red's face, she felt great, she had found someone interesting to travel with
Once they stopped Red stretch her body upwards, her tail seemed to stretch too, "that was exciting !" She walked closer, she waited for Tanneth to catch his breath if he needed, she held his chin, looking very intensely at his face, she gently turned his head to right and left checking for wounds "did you got hurt when you fell ?"
