Tanneth's face was covered in the odd scratch here and there and despite the slight sting it gave him. The poet gave a cheeky smile and replied, "I think I broke my pride."
He chuckled to himself and looked into Red's eyes, his gaze focusing her irises and pupils. It hadn't occurred to Tanneth, but this was perhaps the longest he's stared into her eyes. He then asked, "How about you? Are you all right?'
Tanneth didn't move himself from her hands and simply stood there as he thought, "Like humans those wolves are likely creatures of endurance... what do you say that we journey further down this river until we find a safe place to set camp... that or we can just follow the river until we reach the coast, if we reach the coast before night fall. I'm not as fast as you."
He smiled after saying that and he brushed his ruffled hair aside, "I think I'm-" He cleared his throat, "I think I have a poem brewing, I think by night I'll have a poem to tell you before we sleep."

Appearance: Red hair, blue eyes and a big fluffy red tail, standing at 149 cm tall
Equipment: A ornate quiver with a red fox carved into it, a longbow and three small knives hiding behind the quiver
Skills and Abilities: An amazing shot with a bow and arrow, Red is also very nimble and fast and a really good climber, stealth
Biography: It was the dead of night, Red was sitting outside of a cave, inside more of her kind were sleeping, the dawn was coming and they would often hunt during the night, Red was still very young and knew nothing of the outside world
As she looked up to the sky she heard a weird noise coming from the trees ahead, she quickly went inside in a attempt to hide. She was curious, what could've been that noise ? Where did it came from ?
She dipped her head out the cave, looked around, her ears shifted as she was trying her best to hear any other noises, she heard a animal squeal, maybe a rabbit ?
She followed the sound to find a small rabbit stucked on a trap, almost dead, she circled the animal on all fours, sniffing it and the trap, she stopped, and tried messing with the trap, maybe she could open it and have a free rabbit for herself
The rabbit had stopped moving but Red wasn't even close to open the trap, that's when she heard the sound of a stick breaking, she turned her head and her eyes met with the eyes of a human, she froze for a second, he had a bow in one shoulder and an axe in the other.
She looked at him with her eyes wide open, that was her first time seeing a human, the man stepped forward, she stopped back
"It's okay, said the man, I'm not going to hurt you," said the man, stepping forward one more time
She was curious about the man but also cautious, the man slowly put his items on the ground and said "are you lost ?"
At first he didn't notice the tail or the ears, walking one more step forward and with the light slowly getting more brighter with a new day coming he realised she wasn't a human child but a vulx
"Are you..." Before he could complete his words Red took off running, the man stopped for a second, thought to himself, then quickly picked up his stuff and chased the girl
"Hey, wait, don't go that way, it's dangerous," he shouted as he ran after her
Red was running in a completely different direction than the cave she was outside of, she was fast, and the man couldn't keep up, but she fell as the same time as a clanking sound could been heard, with no clue to what just happened she looked ate her leg
She had been caught in a trap much similar to the one with the rabbit, the trap had metal bits that would quickly snap together much like a bear trap but it was smaller, although it didn't broke any of her bones, the trap still hurt a lot and she let out a sharp cry of pain
The man found her quickly, he approached her saying in a gentle voice "it's okay little one, i'm going to help you okay"
As he reached for the trap, Red scratched the man's arm, in response he tried to calm her down, and slowly reached for the trap again
"I can get you out of there, I'm going to help you" he said pressing on a small lever on the side of the trap and pulling it open
She quickly tried to get away but couldn't , the man slowly approached her speaking in a calm voice "if you let me carry you, I'll bring you to my cabin and I will heal you." He patted her on the head and them took her with him, once on the cabin he took a look at her ankle "you won be able to move for a while, but i'll take care of you." He pointed at himself "Anderson." He did that a couple of times then pointed at her but she didn't knew how to talk "well, i'll just call you Red then"
For the next few weeks he would treat her, feed her and make sure she was worm. Her, in the other hand seemed to mimick him and was learning fast but still wasn't able to talk.
Everything stayed the same for a while, there wasn't much for her to do but Anderson tried his best to teach her words and even showed her his books but with no success, he told her stories and shared his experiences, but after some time she was healed and he decided to take her back
Anderson was visibly upset about that, it was he's dream to have a family but wasn't able to have kids but the forest was her home. He took her to the spot where she found her, this time she came walking on both feet
"As promised, now that you're better I brought you home," he said
"N n n no" she said
"You can speak ?" He's eyes shot open
She pointed at herself and continued "o o o out a sider."
Although she was born with the others, she never felt like she belonged, there was some much to be learned and she had grown attached to the man

Red chuckled "I'm alright, normally I hide from wolves, never seen wolves like that"
She let go of the man's chin, booped his nose "you'll be fine, small cuts can get infected too so make sure to clean your face." She frowned, her tail slowly made circles as she thought about their options " hmmmmmmm, I think we should try both, if there's a safer place around the river we camp and we move quickly, if we don't get to the shore we camp too also they'll follow us if they want, let's hope they're satisfied, and hunt only what we will immediately eat."
Her eyes opened wide than she blinked a few times, "a new poem ?" She smiled, he fangs showing "I'll wait patiently than. Let's go than."

Tanneth's face flushed red after she booped him on the nose. He tilted his head down and to the side, with one of his hands rubbing the back of his neck. "Sounds good, we should get moving sooner than later."
He walked over to the river and dipped his face into the cold water, after placing his hat on the ground near him. He would raise his head above the water and gently, but quickly, brushed his face with his hands. After doing this more than a few times he was satisficed that he cleaned his mug as well as he could for now. Tanneth smiled and openly pondered, "You know... I wonder what we'll find next. First it was each other, second it was those wolves, and now what do you think the third will be?"
The man grabbed his black hat and placed it confidently on his head. He began walking down the side of the river and watched the river as it flowed down. The river seemed to become faster the further down it went, the splash of whitewater teased him at the edge of his vision. Tanneth chimed, after picking up his pace, "Let's make haste."

Red walked in a good pace side by side with Tanneth, he had cleaned his face like she suggested "I don't know what, but if things keep escalating i'm sure it'll be exciting !" She nodded in agreement to herself
The river sounds made for a relaxing walk but they had to move fast, as Tanneth picked up the pace so did Red, she seemed to be concentrated and would sniff the air every few seconds to make sure they weren't being followed anymore.
"What do you think that species of wolf should be called ? She talked slower than normal, their scent was very faint and concentrating on her nose made a bit difficult to talk since speaking isn't something every Vulx were able to do. Red herself needed a fair amount of thought to speak properly.

Tanneth thought about her question and considered it thoroughly and spoke, "The botanic wolves? Maybe a different name describing their ability to disguise among the plant life would be better."
Tanneth slowed himself as the shoreside became more rocky and they neared a fall in the river's path. He walked over to the edge and saw it was a fall of perhaps four times his height, enough of one where he could die from it or at the very least break something. Tanneth spoke, "We'll need to find a way down this, otherwise we will be forced to find a way around this."
The water roared as it was flung over the side of the sheer cliff and it crashed into a pool, one shaped like an egg. At the narrowest portion of the pool of water, the river continued, much narrower and deeper than it was previously. It was likely due to the rocky terrain they had come across.

"I'm sure we could figure out a name for them later," Red said, she was still trying to make sure the animals weren't still following them
She observed the terrain get more and more rocky and let out a sigh when the waterfall blocked the way. The noise of the water would make hard for her to listen into the forest and she didn't want to stay there if they didn't needed
"I say we go around, even if we find a safer way to go down it would be better not to risk to much, if either of us got too much wounded it would be bad, hmmm."
She put a hand to her chin and once again her tail mage circles, going around could cost them time and the wolves might catch up to them "maybe there is a way down, that would be faster and that might give us some more distance from them creatures. Well, let's see what we can find," she said before she started to look for a safe way down.

Tanneth looked down, leaning quite a bit over the edge. He commented, "How deep do you think that pool is?"
Tanneth walked around and looked at trying to discern how he could measure it. Drop a rock? No that wouldn't tell him much, it would make a big splash any about nothing else. Tanneth sat down, his legs dangling off the edge of the cliff face.
Tanneth had an idea and it was a stupid one. He looked over at Red, "So first off do we have any vine-like plants. I have an idea. I'm thinking we tie a plant around a stone and tie a stick to the other end. The vine and stick should float and the excess should tell us how deep that pool is."
Tanneth went around the treeline to see if he could see any vine-like plants, so far none. He commented, "If I know the water is deep enough, we can toss what we want to stay dry off the cliff face onto the dry ground and jump into the water. I doubt the wolves could or would follow us by jumping in, so it would put distance if they are still tracking us. I'm not sure if they are, but another pack could find us. I suggest doing jumping one at a time, just in case it doesn't work, or if we wanted to keep our breakables dry. Personally speaking I want to keep my quill safe."

"I think it should be fairly deep right, normally waterfalls are deep at the bottom, the problem might be any rocks that might stick up," Red answer.
The man as he explained his plan and she made an observation "we need a rock heavy that the vine won't lift the rock up, it has to go to the bottom."
Red followed Tanneth to the edge of the trees "we might need to go inside to find what we need," she said, "I would definitely toss the quiver with the arrows and the bow, they are the only thing i have to remember father."
She walked inside the trees, looking for what Tanneth needed for his plan, at first she didn't find anything but it didn't took to long for her to find a big tree with vines going up, she than called Tanneth, "if that works I can climb it to cut the vines down, what do you think ?"

Tanneth walked over to Red after she called him over. He grinned as he walked over, seeing the vine wrapped around the tree. If we can get that to be three times my height then we're golden like dawn."
He handed her his knife hand first and began breaking off three small sticks, "I'm going to use these sticks to mark every third of the vine, so there's less guesswork when we look at our measuring device. As for rocks anything that's around the size, but not smaller, than my fist should work. I'm more worried about the vine snapping off once it hits water.... maybe the rock being smaller than my fist would be best."
The sticks he broke off where about the thickness of his index finger and about a third of its length. He than began looking for a larger and thinker branch that this would all be attached to and found a broken branch of the ground that would suit his needs.
He said allowed, "I'm going to find a suitable rock, meet me by the river once you've got that ready." Once said Tanneth went back to the shore of the river and began sorting through different rocks, looking for the easiest for them to attach a vine to.

"will see how long it really is after I cut it," she said picking the knife and carefully placing it in her mouth, she took a few steps backs and ran in the direction of the tree, once close enough, she jumped, putting one foot on the tree and facing her body up so her speed would quickly change from forward to upwards
The hight she got could be described as impressive, she grabbed one of the lower branches and, using the the rest of her momentum she pulled herself up, grabbing a higher branch, if she hadn't done that she would've fall because the lower branch snapped once her weight settled on both parts on the tree
As she climbed a little more she noticed the vine would go up a fair bit of the tree and since it was wrapped it would be longer than it seemed. Once she found a position where she could safely cut the vine she took the knife out her mouth and started cutting
Red climbed the tree down as fast as she went up but she did carefully, once one the ground she picked up the vine neatly or of the floor and went to the fall to wait for Tanneth.

Tanneth would walk over to Red. He looked at the vine and nodded. He spoke, "Let's lay it in a straight line, that way I can tie these small sticks to divide it into thirds. It'll make it easier to judge of the depth if we do that."
Tanneth estimated what would be needed to complete his measurement device and looked down at the pool at the end of the waterfall. It sent chills down his spine just thinking about jumping into it... but this was the closest thing to those adventures he would hear about at the old tavern. The thought of living his own adventure, brought a smile to the poet's face. He he thought of how the stanzas would match with the poem still forming in his head.

"aye !" Red said, she straighten the vine.
She watched as Tanneth approached the fall, she walked up to him, she noticed the smile on his face and looked down at the water, "you're excited aren't you ? So am i, this looks so much fun." She chuckled " the vine is straight, well, as straight as it can be."
She walked back to the vine, she put her hands on her hips "you're smart Tanneth, I'd probably either climb down or walk around, but this, this is exciting !"

Tanneth grinned hearing the compliment and he returned it with one of his own, his tone was smooth like a leaf wet with the fresh dew of the morning, "I'm honored and humbled to hear such a beautiful lady flatter me with such kind words."
He walked over to the vine and began tying the small sticks at each third, attaching the larger stick to one end. Tanneth then took his chosen stone and tied the vine around it in a way that resembled a net. It was ready and Tanneth took the device to the edge. "Well there's no better way to test it."
He drops it... ... Plop! Splash!
The stone sunk underneath the water, its weight dragging the vine underneath. After some time it rested and Tanneth saw that a small portion, perhaps twice the length of his foot, remained. Satisfied Tanneth turned to Red and chirped, "I found a deep spot! We can jump."
He stopped and looked at Red, "Do you want to jump first, or do you want me to? Either way, I would recommend taking off what you don't want broken or wet...."
Tanneth paused, "Shit! I forgot to think of a way to keep our valuables safe!"
He looked down at their contraption, then looked at Red, "Do you know if there's another length of vine? We can tie my shirt to it and place our valuables in there, then whoever stays up here can lower them to whoever jumps first."

Red blushed a bit to Tanneth's compliment, she chuckled and said "thank you."
She watched the apparent success of the contraption that the poet had made, she nodded, her eyes seemed to glow with the opportunity of a what would definitely would be a fun jump. Tanneth looked satisfied and so did Red "good job !" She told him
When she heard the words "do you want to go first," Red had already took steps behind, if Tanneth hadn't pointed the problem of lowering their stuff without breaking them she would've jumped
"Ah yeah, I think I still have your knife, I can just cut another one real quick, you know what, let me do that." She ran really quickly inside of the treeline and within seconds she returned with another vine, not as long as the other but long enough
"Here, give me your shirt," she said to Tanneth and assuming he would have her the shirt Red would tie it as to make a little bag, she put her bow and quiver inside it with Tanneth's knife inside of with her quiver as to not damage the man's clothing

Tanneth handed her his shirt and took his hand and small bag into his shirt. He smirked, "I think the rest of the ensemble will survive the fall."
He waited, Red had wanted to jump in first. He took the vine with their breakables and said, "If you want to jump go ahead. I'll lower the fragile items to you, that being said I don't know how cold it is or how healthy soaked clothes will be for us, nonetheless I recommend we seek shelter immediately after we jump and make a pit fire again. We'll need to seek to food soon as well."
Tanneth smiled and gestured that it was up to her what she wanted to do.
