Alden

Roleplay posts: 266
Age: 53(?)
Appearance: The reference image is a commissioned piece and is accurate.
Alden is 6 even, with shoulder-length messy black hair, and several days worth of beard stubble. He is handsome, with a powerful jaw, mid-set cheekbones, and a perpetual grin that makes him seem younger than he really is. His bright green eyes, constantly sparkle with barely contained mirth. He has the lithe well-muscled body of a swordsman, and he moves with considerable grace and dexterity.
If one were to do a more thorough examination of Alden's eyes they may notice a further detail. Around the outside edge of his iris, there's an intricate series of minuscule grey runes.
Underneath his shirt, Alden's skin is a mass of scar tissue. Starting from just below his neckline, there is very little space that does not sport some relic of a past injury. A particularly observant person may also note that among these scars, some are a bright scarlet. These scarlet scars form an intricate series of runes hiding amidst the rest of the scars.
-------------------------------------------
Equipment: Alden's general loadout when he goes fighting consists of the following:
A twin set of enchanted shortswords. The simple straight blades are unnatural dark, absorbing rather than reflecting light. Giving the enchanted steel an appearance closer to cold iron. The guard has the Isran sun emblem emblazoned in a medallion shape just above the guard, which is wrapped in simple leather. The enchantments increase their sharpness and durability, as well as being able to ignite the blood of anything that he has pierced with either blade.
Numerous braces and hidden throwing knives all over his body. At one point, these were also enchanted but when the calamity struck he didn't have time to grab his original set. So these are all well-made but ultimately mundane weapons. Still, with his strength and skill, they can be quite deadly.
Unfortunately, at present, he is also missing his armour. His preferred armour is leather dyed in mottled black and greys, with strike plates sewn between layers for added protection. His old set was also enchanted for increased protection from physical and magical attacks.
-------------------------------------------
Skills and Abilities: Alden is, for lack of a better term, a weapon master. He has been trained to use almost any weapon you can think to name. Relentless daily training with each, with extraordinarily demanding expectations on performance and harsh incentives for failure giving a level of skill with most of them that make him formidable.
However, his preferred style involves twin short swords. While he is skilled with all of his weapons thanks to training, he discovered a natural talent with the blade. His level of skill when wielding his short swords is on another level entirely, nearly transcendent in his skill.
On top of that, he is a living magical enchantment. Carved into his body are a variety of runes that grant him numerous innate abilities. He is inhumanly strong, around three to four times stronger than a man in a similar state of physical fitness would be. This also applies to his endurance, speed, reflexes, and other physical traits. He also has regenerative abilities exceeding human normal, able to heal from even broken bones in a matter of days rather than weeks.
In addition, he is immune to most poisons and resistant to the rest. The runes etched into his eyes ensure he can see the same no matter the level of light and reveal magical auras to him. Runes along his back make him impossible to scry on directly and provide him a measure of resistance to magical attack. This, combined with training, also makes him immune to magical mental influence. Finally, runes on his feet dampen any sound he might make taking his already considerable stealth abilities to another level entirely.
Speaking of his training also included all of the skills one would think an Assassin should have. He knows how to mix poisons, move without being seen or making noise, scale walls, lie or disguise himself, pick locks, pick pockets, just for starters. He is also quite skilled at clerical work and he has some diplomacy ability after thirty years leading the Sun Marshals.
Beyond all of this, Alden also possesses an incredible amount of willpower. If Alden decides that he will do something, there is very little that can stop him from doing it. In fact, at present, the only thing that could deter him from a course of action is Captain Naoki. The former Empress is the only person he has any loyalty to and he often values her judgement on matters above his own.
-------------------------------------------
Biography: Alden was born to a small farming family in an out-of-the-way village. His parents named him Toan and until he was five his destiny was most likely to live and die on the same farm he was born. However, that all changed when Pride arrived.
The leader of a criminal group known as The Set, Pride offered his parents a sum of money that would make any poor farmer's heart stop. Enough money to change their lives forever and all he wanted was Alden, one of nearly a dozen children. A child that wasn't even old enough to help with chores around the farm yet. And the man as so nice, he wanted a ward that he could train to be a retainer how bad of a life could that be?
The answer to that question was basically Hell. Pride was a potent alchemist, enchanter, and scholar and he had but one goal in mind. To create a superior warrior. Alden was subjected to hellish daily training along with six other children. Forced to learn to fight with every weapon, against any foe, in any condition. His limbs were broken deliberately and he was forced to continue to fight and train in constant agony. And this was among the mildest of the ways he was trained.
The culmination of the training came when he was twelve. When he and the six other children were locked in a room and told that the only one who got to leave... was the only one to survive. Of course, surviving was hardly a reward.
Once Pride had only the strongest of the children left he proceeded to the next step of his plan. Alden's memories and identity were seared away as Pride carved runes into his flesh and his very soul. Transforming the young man into a living magical artifact and keeping him on a drug that suppressed all of his emotions.
From there Alden became the new Wrath of the set, a weapon meant only to slay those he was told to. That may have been all he would be but Pride made a miscalculation, Alden's runes helped him to build an immunity to the dosage meant to keep his emotions in check, a weakness made worse by Pride having let him keep his anger thinking it would make him a better weapon. Eventually, events conspired and Alden snapped when the only member of The Set to be kind to him, Sloth, was killed for threatening to expose Pride.
Alden, driven into a deeper rage than ever before killed Envy, Lust, Gluttony, and even disembowelled Pride. Greed manage to escape and Alden slaughtered everything in his path trying to catch the man. Eventually succeeding in his goal. Bereft of a target for his rage and the chase having left him in the middle of nowhere Alden finally collapsed the trauma and coming off of the dosage causing him to bury most of his memories.
He wound up in Isra where his talents and skill soon earned him the eye of the then, criminal Madam Naoki. She recruited him as one of her enforcers a role he continued as her power expanded and grew until she finally became Empress. His reward for his loyalty? Appointment to the head of The Sun Marshals her special police force, effectively making him her right-hand man.
During this time he also uncovered his own past and learned that Pride had survived, the man had made preparations for such an eventuality and his death only saw his soul moving to a phylactery as he became a lich.
Pride created a new Set, this time making each member just as he made Alden. Eventually, this culminated in Pride attacking Isra and his eventual, final defeat.
Decades have passed since that time and Alden, whose power kept him at his prime for years continued to serve Isra until the new calamity took him to The Island of Mists, his empress reduced to a captain and he now serving as her first mate.

Well, it seemed it never rained when it could pour. The same woman who had loudly tried to make everyone know how tough and independent she was that first day on the beach was once again making her presence known. Turning to look over Shyv'Ahna the only thing Alden feels is tired. Between her and Nina and all of the people of a similar ilk from the old Empire, he was so sick of dealing with the self-righteous. Perhaps that wasn't fair. Perhaps he was self-righteous in his own way. Yet all he'd wanted from Nina was for her to talk to his friend with respect. Not even the respect that one gave an empress. Lady Naoki, especially now, did not seem to be keen on enforcing any ridiculous rules on how she was addressed or treated. Hell, she'd invited a complete unknown to speak to her freely, to give their thoughts and opinions on the state of things and it wasn't as though Nina's observations had even been inaccurate. Oh sure, she wasn't seeing the whole picture, but her heart had obviously been in the right place and she'd had a good idea of what the colony had needed most. But the girl had condescended, she'd been sarcastic, she'd been rude. She'd done everything sort of openly insulting Naoki. Then when Alden had done his best to politely ask her to remember to treat the woman she was addressing with respect, she'd acted like it was somehow unreasonable for a person to think that they should mind their manners when speaking to someone they barely knew. To not make assumptions about their character before knowing the whole story. So he'd slapped her as he might a rude youth. Someone old enough to know better but young enough that a firm hand might be beneficial. He'd tried to explain to the girl that there was more going on than she was aware of, to give her a more complete picture of the woman she'd opted to insult. That had, evidently, not worked. Honestly, he'd known it wouldn't. Expecting a person to listen to you after you hit them was a fool's gambit he'd known that. The trouble was, he'd known that there was nothing he could have said or done to change the mind of someone who'd already made their's up. Nina wasn't a threat, not to him, anyone that certain of their path was going to be overconfident and that was deadly. Then again, perhaps he was the same? These ruminations brought him back to the challenge that had been laid at his feet. Naoki was already getting up to handle it and he was so disgusted with the horned woman he was happy enough to let his friend get things under control. Yet another person carried on waves of self-righteousness. All but certain that it was her place to fight him, to stop him from picking on the weak he supposed. Another person whose mind was already made up and who had no use for the entire story. Caught up in defending the "peasants" from the cruel "aristocracy" who might use violence to keep them in line. Seemingly unaware of the hypocrisy her own willingness to use violence to keep him in line suggested. Bring a sword to bear against any who disagreed with you, what could possibly go wrong? Did they know how very easy it would be to just start executing dissenters? Identify them, get them out of the camp, have them killed one by one? There were more than enough soldiers loyal to Naoki that they could manage it. Few enough people that it would actually be quite easy to do in such a way that suspicion didn't arise. Hell, he could do it all himself if he wanted to. Lord knows, he'd done enough stealth assassinations in the past. The very fact that people like Nina and Shyv'Ahna got to act as they did with barely any repercussion was a testament to the freedom they had, the lack of tyranny present. Yet they seemed determined to place themselves underneath an imaginary boot. Naoki puts an end to things and Alden turns his attention back to the crowd. Well, if they had to invent some wicked figure to feel oppressed by he supposed that could be the one good thing to come from his lapse in composure. Perhaps they'd just focus all that hate on Naoki's thug rather than on the woman herself. If someone had to be cast as the villain in all this he'd rather it be him than her. He'd spent enough of his life as the villain, he was used to it at this point. Perhaps he'd have her publically demote him to bodyguard, let her make a show of putting him on a "leash." The attack dog devested of his temporal power and relegated only to use his skill and strength in protection of her. It was a thought. Alden was just tried, he didn't want to go through the same motions once again. He wanted to do something else. Be something else. But he probably never would be. He may have looked barely older than twenty but he was near or in his fifties by now. Old by the standards of his profession. An old killer, he'd wanted to be something more for so long. He was starting to suspect that he never would be. When you were as good as he was at what he did, there would always be some reason for him to keep it up. Some villain, some monster, some enemy that needed to be killed and he'd be the only one who could do it. Attention was on Naoki again, it was easy for him to move without seeming to move. Slipping out of easy line of sight for those watching the commotion and then out the back of the tent. Odds were, no one would even see him leave. He was sure Naoki would want to talk about what happened at some point. He knew her well enough to guess it wouldn't be at the feast table though. With Grandma present, there was little need for him to stay and act as a bodyguard. Hopefully, his vanishing would help her get things under control. He wasn't sure, he just didn't want to be surrounded by so many faces looking at him with fear, disgust, and anger. Not anymore.

Venus twirled her fingers slightly in a pale imitation of a wave as Naoki disappeared. Venus' eyes dart to Skarlet and she smiles. Someone with manners, it seems. " My name is Venus, as the empress stated." She introduces herself, eyes darting to the red liquid in Skarlet's cup ever so briefly. A quick sniff, disguised by another nibble on her food, tells the demoness all she needs to know. A vampire, although Venus couldn't tell if she was cursed or turned. She avoided wrinkling her nose in distaste, there was no guarantee that she was as low-bred as those two Shadowsteppers from before. Then again, most vampires that were bred with quality tended to avoid such social gatherings. It remained to be seen what she could expect from this woman. Venus let the faintest trace of her aura out, and it immediately coalesced around Venus, enwrapping the demon in a veil of hazy pleasure and satisfaction. Venus' brain spiked, as she felt a soft buzz twinkle in her mind, thanks to her aura. "To answer your question, I am quite well. Truth be told, and don't tell Naoki this, the agitation and tension in this room is the most exhilarating thing I've seen in quite some time. I don't understand why conflict needs to be stifled, it is but another form of passion. In any case, if I heard Naoki correctly, your name is Skarlet?" She asked curiously, her voice an intoxicating mix of sweetness, dripping like honey, and cold steel, as if her voice was a blade cutting through the noise of the room. "Yes, I am Lady Naoki's adopted daughter Skarlet. It's nice to meet you Venus." The Vampiress finishes the last dregs of her drink and smiles, "I won't tell her. I'm just a little tired of fighting right now, It's been a tough war for me. I'd prefer a different kind of passion right now, hehe." Skarlet is feeling excited sexually but while she'd like to be more flirty she senses something is making Venus uncomfortable. Was it her or something else? She could change the subject, or maybe just be direct, it could be something Skarlet is imagining. "Do I make you uncomfortable? I won't feel hurt, I get it. I'm pretty different."

Appearance: When you want to hide a tree, you hide it in a forest. Similarly, if you wanted to hide Katiana, you would put her in a crowd of humans. Brown hair, brown eyes, thin features, and an unremarkable height may not set her apart, but the way she manipulates her expressions and gallivants around certainly do. Those who know her are familiar with a particularly mischievous left-sided smirk, above which forms a dimple. Those who have yet to meet her will immediately know her for the way she bounces from one place to the next, holding her skirts in her hands.
____________________________________________________
Equipment: A recurve bow made of elm, a small wood-cutting ax, and a skinning knife complete Katiana's non-exhaustive equipment. Being an adventurer who often loses herself in the wilderness, she also favors flint and tinder, rope, medicines, a waterskin, sewing supplies, and food rations.
____________________________________________________
Skills and Abilities: Though not particularly concerned in the art of warfare, Katiana has been a hunter for as long as she could hold a bow, and over the years, she became proficient with it. One could assume that if she needed to point her arrow at a charging warrior rather than a boar, she would have the same chances of hitting it. Years of adventuring have also taught her skills in survival.
Though she has no skills in magic, nothing is stopping her from learning. Katiana's family has a history of mages, though none have been particularly gifted.

Katiana had to roll her eyes when Roxanne entered. "Brilliant timing," she lamented, wiping a hand down her face. "We don't... really know anything other than what we've seen." She tried to fill the warrior in, but she didn't know much about what was happening, herself. With worry and curiosity in her eyes, she watched Nina leave. In the back of her mind, Katiana put a reminder there to seek her out sometime during the week, just to get her story.
Looking toward Shyv'Ahna and Alden, she saw that there was a more important matter at hand. To make matters worse, Lady Naoki decided to come right over to lecture her Av' acquaintance, just as she did to her bodyguard. Immediately the huntress felt that it would not go over well and gave Roxanne a bowl. "Fill this up and meet us outside, alright?"
Just before Coatl slipped away, she tapped him on the shoulder, smiling wryly. "And you too."
Finally, she stood behind 'Ahna, ready for a rather awful racket to be made. She held no grudges against Naoki or Alden- oh, though it seemed he slipped away in the moments it took for the former empress to stride over!- though the actions he took were startling. She had absolutely no knowledge on the matter, but she stood behind her acquaintance nonetheless.

Venus blinks, and looks at Skarlet. "Darling, you are just fine." She stresses, clasping her hands together. "You being a vampire has no regards to how I feel about you, that would be rather hypocritical of me. Especially since I myself am a Demon Goddess." She smiled at Skarlet, her tongue darting across her lips as she gave a rather sultry gaze. "You are quite lucky, however. I happen to be the goddess of passion," she said flirtatiously, before placing a small cream filled pastry in her mouth slowly.

Shyv'Ahna
Committed
Roleplay posts: 50
Appearance: Shyv'ahna, or Ahna for short, is an Av' nomad woman, standing at 180cm (6ft) tall. Though tall for a woman, she is in fact the average for most Av' women. She has light lavender skin, intersected by feint tattoos that glow while using magic, her eyes are golden, and her hair a very dark purple. Though mostly humanoid, she possesses a set of bowed legs, not unlike other Av’, and a pair of horns that curl around her ears.
She adorns herself with jewellery, specifically gold caps to her horns, silver and golden rings, two on the right side of her eyebrow, four in her right ear, and one through her septum.
Her body type is strong and toned, forged through years of patient training, fighting, and more travel than most would do in a single life time. It is covered, much like her face, in tattoos, jewelry and the occasional scar, from top to bottom, though most would never know considering her rather conservative wardrobe.
Equipment: Ahna uses medium armour. Leather, light scaled metal, and chainmail make up the most of her regular outfit, but all under a dark blue poncho, adorned with golden stitching and traditional Av'rae patterns that dance across its light blue trim.
Her travelling armour consists of a chain vest and a scaled skirt that reaches her knees around the back and sides, leaving the front open, starting at her belt and fanning out. Over the chain vest, she usually wears a leather corset to keep it in place.
In a trunk inside her vardo, however, sits a much more elegant set of armour, one she hadn’t worn in quite some time, her Elder Guard armour. Forged from the finest metals in dwarven-supervised forges, her Elder Guard armour has both the toughness valued by dwarves, but the mobility favoured by the Av’rae. It’s an elegant suit, tailored and forged to fit Ahna’s form, with its cuirass, graves, skirt, bracers, and boot plating made from the finest mithril, a light but extremely sturdy metal. The trim and under suit are made of a soft, breathable cotton, as is the cape that covers one shoulder.
The helmet of her Elder Guard Armour is ornate, to say the very least. It’s a closed design from back to front, but with openings to slide up around her horns, and a T-shaped visor for her stunning golden eyes to peer out of. The front of the opening is often covered by a thin chain mail for protection, as is her neck guard.
The armour’s colour matches her standard pallet, with the mithril painted mostly in a purple, with its trim painted a fine, reflective gold. The cotton of her armour, such as her undersuit and cape, are a fine dark purple with golden stitching that matches her regular shawl.
Her weapons are just as expertly forged, her primary weapon being a two handed pole weapon most would consider a fauchard, a long pole with an ornate, curved blade attached to the top, the blade on one side of the weapon’s top while a hook sat on the other, giving her the option to slash, stab, and pull as necessary. Though most Av’rae prefer to fight with two handed weapons, Shyv’Ahna also carries an ornate dagger with a similarly curved blade, just in case.
Finally, she is also an adept with a crossbow, though she prefers to fight with her melee prowess.
For transport, Shyv’Ahna has a vardo, a caravan of sorts, that she uses to transport her things as well as live inside with comfort. Being of the nomadic sort, Shyv’Ahna has no desire to a standard home, one that doesn’t move, so a Vardo, pulled by her beast of burden Bahsel, does the trick perfectly.
Bahsel, her beast of burden, is a creature rarely seen without an Av’ companion. Nobody can understand why or how, but the Av’rae are one of the few people to find these creatures’ native land and tame them for both work and protection. Bahsel could be described as a large, muscular porcupine, with thigh legs, built perfectly for work, a thick hide to protect from predators, a pair of large front teeth, perfect for chewing on its usual diet of roots and plants, and finally a back covered in quills that not only stop melee attackers, but can also be shot outwards like a series of javelins, that grow back quicker than most would expect.
Together, Ahna and Bahsel travel the lands, always ready for the next adventure.
Skills and Abilities: Ahna has spent years training and being trained in combat, and she has become an expert fighter with two handed pole weapons, daggers, and hand to hand combat, making her a fierce enemy to face, or one hell of a good sparring partner if you don’t mind a few bruises. She also carries a crossbow, but she mostly uses it for hunting. She’s a great shot, but her preference is found in melee.
Before the end times and the escape from the destroyed lands, Ahna was a strong, and sometimes scary mage. The Av’rae are some of the more magically-tuned folk in the old world, and Ahna was no exception, but after travelling away she can feel her powers weaken, as if stopped by something. Normally she could conjured lightning and electricity in the palm of her hand, powering her attacks while also zapping her enemies as needed, and on the rare occasion, under a cloudy sky and with great inner rage, she could even conjure storms, but no longer. Now, she can barely use her magic at all. Perhaps she just needs to find new ways to channel it…
Being a nomad, Ahna is an expert traveller and guide, able to traverse most terrain and survive in some of the more harsh environments, making her an exceptional pathfinder, if asked nicely and presented with enough gold.
Allegiances: The Av'rae people.

Naoki's steely gaze and authoritative stature did nothing for Ahna. She wasn't one of Naoki's former subjects who looked up to her with adoration or feared her power, in fact she was the opposite. Being a travelling nomad, she spent time in the slums, among the little people, where the guardsmen cared more about the mud on their boots than the folk who had to sleep in it. Even then, they chose to look down on her.
When it came time to be chastised, Ahna just crossed her arms, looking down at the woman. She almost looked like a squirrel when she was mad… When she was finished, Ahna spoke, not seeming to care for Naoki's rhetorical question or orders. "I don't care what she said," Ahna says in a much more calm demeanor than before. "She is half the size of him. If words hurt him so deeply that he has to lash out, then his skull is thicker than his skin."
"I stood for her now because I have been on the other side of his actions. People have tried to slap me around, guards, soldiers, people who think they have authority," she explains. "People who think they're important because they serve people like you, and think they can do these things in your name. Why me? Because I am who I am. A nomad, who doesn't belong. Av'rae. 'Easy pickings'. Perhaps I said something wrong, or they think I looked at someone funny. Sometimes it was just because I existed. It's infuriating, and I won't let that happen to someone else for something as trivial as words."
She unfurls her arms and puts them on her hips. "There is so much more to be said, but it will only be my anger talking, and that benefits nobody. Just as they did in the old world, those words won't change anything. Perhaps I overreacted, for that I will apologise to the other diners." She peers around the tent then back to Naoki. "And if you are content that your telling off of that thug will be enough, then fine. It's done."
It would be best to let things be. Her actions would speak louder than words, and until then she had been a positive force for the camp. She had chopped bulk firewood and hunted for their food, built makeshift sleds and furnishings for their supplies and homes, and her trusty friend had helped pull the likes of logs from the forest for them. More recently, under her guide, he had helped plough their first farms. She hoped those actions would make the new world see her people in a new light, she wasn't about to squander that on teaching some oaf a lesson.
She pulls an ornate, hand carved pipe from her shawl and packs the pipeweed down. "My fury has passed for now. I will not waste any more of your time." She didn't really care about wasting Naoki's time, it was more her own time she was concerned with wasting. She looks over her shoulder at Katiana and nods to the door, noting that she seemed anxious to leave. "Come Katiana, let us leave the diners in peace. It was a mistake for me to come here."
With that, she uses a careful zap of electricity to light her pipe and turns for the exit, not caring to take any food with her. That zap was just about all she could produce consciously after arriving on the island, thankfully it was just enough to be useful.

Knowing she is a demon made things easier for Skarlet, she could be more of herself. Skarlet watched Venus eat and she thought 'This woman is so lewd, the way she eats is turning me on'. She could feel a reaction under her skirt and she shifts to cross her legs. She laughs nervously and bites her lip, "Oh my... You're too sexy. I'm having a hard time controlling myself." Her face gets a little red when she says 'hard' and she starts shaking her leg a little. Skarlet hadn't felt like this in a long time and it was fun. Too bad they told Naoki they were going to stay here and wait for her.

Venus laughs, throwing her head back as she laughed boisterously. Her voice sounded harsh, as if glass were shattering. "Darling, you are so cute." She tapped an emerald green nail to her chin in thought, as if she needed a moment to think. Another devotee? There was no question on if she wanted to gain one. She moved closer to Skarlet, until she was sitting right next to her. "If you play your cards right, you won't have to control yourself for much longer." She whispered seductively in Skarlet's ear, her hot breath pushing against Skarlet's neck, as Venus' breasts squished themselves against Skarlet's shoulder. Venus 'casually' placed a hand on Skarlet's thigh, lightly tracing circles on the flesh.
All too soon, Venus pulled away, sitting upright and placing her hands on the table to cut a piece of flame-cooked meat up.
Venus licked her lips, before using a small wooden spear to shish-kabob some of her food. She teasingly exaggerated pulling the food off, even letting her pink tongue drag against the spear as she used her tongue to pull the meat into her mouth. "Unfortunately, my dear Skarlet, you must.. Control those desires. I love a good time as much as the next girl, but I came here to speak with Naoki, and I must catch up with her. Feel free to ask her questions about me though, I'm sure she'd be delighted to answer most of them. It'll keep her mind off these unsavory drama queens running about." Venus hid another laugh at the chaos she'd be sewing.
Naoki was a bit more difficult to comprehend, but if this girl was her daughter, she probably would not want her consorting with a demon, especially one like Venus. Be it for motherly concern, or possessiveness, Venus couldn't tell. Though, as she looked Skarlet up and down, she did seem like she'd be a fun girl, especially with those teeth. She continued to dine, but looked over at Naoki, observing the situation from afar.

Appearance: A bit on the short side, with a thin, lanky build. Round amber eyes, round face, dark brown hair cut to rest about mid-way down her neck. Tends to wear simple and well-fitting clothes: knee-high leather boots, riding breeches, a simple blouse, and a hooded cloak, all in earthy browns and tans.
Equipment: An enchanted compass worn on a strap around her neck, a travel bag containing several tubes for storing rolls of parchment, bottles of ink, wooden quills, and a spyglass.
Skills and Abilities: Dawn has a natural knack for directions, as well as night vision and a fine sense of hearing. She is skilled in navigation and cartography.
Biography: Dawn was named after the time of day she was born, and grew up among her people in the forests to the West. She enjoyed exploring the woods, and as time went on came to tagging along with guides as they lead merchants and travelers around the region. Soon she came to being a guide herself, travelling north and south among the forest to see as much as she could. However, even the wide breadth of her homeland couldn't satiate her wanderlust, and she soon made the uncommon decision to depart and explore the lands to the East. As a parting gift her father bestowed upon her an enchanted compass, an old family heirloom none had seen a use for before then. She wandered nearby lands for years after that, drawing up maps of everywhere she went.

Dawn laughs with a smile. "Oh, over here!" She leads the way over to a pair of empty seats, falling into one. She fills her plate, waiting for her friend to do the same before digging in. "So," she says, swallowing a mouthful. "Where to first?" The Bard eagerly piled food onto her plate, not waiting to sit down before stuffing her mouth full. "I haffn't tayfted anyfing dith good in agef." She says through a mouthful of food. She swallows her bite. "I dunno. Wherever there isn't an ocean, I guess." "Oh, then we have plenty of options." She takes a bite, taking her time to chew and savor the taste. The Bard was right; this was the best food this side of the apocalypse. She swallows, eating more without another word, letting her mind wander while she enjoyed the feast. "I think I want to go west first," she says between bites. "That's the way we came in; there were those straights and some sort of peninsula? We could head across the river, see what lies on the other side."

Naoki listens with her arms crossed and her mouth a thin line, slid all the way over to one side of her face. Shyv'Ahna has reached the quota for how much trouble one is permitted to cause Naoki without suffering consequence, and is wisley deciding to withdraw. This is fine. Frankly, Naoki just wants to eat her damn food without enduring criticism from the peanut gallery, so Shyv'Ahna leaving suits her fine.
On her way to back to her seat, Naoki nods to Grandma and makes a note to ask about her prodigious height later. She also notes: Alden’s gone. Hmh.
Looking between Skarlet and Venus, Naoki fixes each of them in turn with a look, a look that implies she might have overheard something. But really, she doesn’t have patience enough to interface with that right now.
Sitting down, Naoki looks at her food. It’s cold, and even less appetizing than it was, which wasn’t ever very much. She sighs. “Look,” she begins, “Venus. If you’d like to help, great. Goodness knows I need it. But this time, you’re going to work. The last time you approached me, that was near Isra’s height. This time we’re starting from the bottom, and if you want to help, you’re going to build. Tomorrow, I’ll show you how to oversee a construction project, and that’s what you’ll be doing for a while because that’s what needs done, and that’s what I’ll be doing. Then we can talk about longer-term plans and potential permanent positions for you.”
“I’m sorry not to spend more time chit-chatting, with the two of you” Naoki continues, “But I’ve really had enough for today. You have my ear as I finish my meal here, but afterward I’m going to bed. … To sleep,” she clarifies.

Venus shrugs at Naoki, smile failing to waver. "By all means, I'll assist where I can. It certainly wouldn't be the first time I've had to create an empire from the ground up," her eerie grin falls into a more content smirk. "Besides, I had nothing of grave importance to talk with you about. Our pleasantries can wait for another time, I think dear Skarlet and I had plans to chat after the feast, we were getting along quite well." She said, glancing slyly at the vampire. She turned head back to Naoki, adopting a more serious expression.
"Although I do have something that you may be interested to hear, it isn't pressing. I'd tell you now but," she gestured around the room with a wry look. "It's hardly the place, nor the time. Is there any place you'd like for me to meet you at tomorrow, for the construction?" She drawled out.
After all, if Naoki wanted to build a nation, surely she'd want to know of one of the most pressing threats to the safety of the whole island.

Making note of Shyv’Ahna’s pipe, Grandma decides she might have to pay the women a visit later. The situation had been resolved peacefully and Grandma held no particular ill will to any of the parties involved. Despite the irritation of having her conversation interrupted since everything had ended peaceably... Well, that was that.
However, there had been an all too familiar presence she had noticed from that man who had been standing near Shyv’Ahna… She hadn’t paid it too much attention when distracted by the potential combat scenario that had been developing, but now that things had calmed down… The man had already left the tent, but Grandma could still feel the presence as it moved away. And she decided to reach out just a bit.
So I see the hero still lives
Making her way back across the room to Rain, a bit more slowly this time, Grandma struck back up the conversation.
“My apologies for that little incident. As I said, everyone is just feeling a bit on edge today. I suspect in a few weeks things will calm down a bit. Now, where were we?”

Venus is subject to an extended sidelong glare from Naoki as she chews what must be a particularly tough piece of meat. She glances at Skarlet, then back to Venus. Eventually, she nods, acquiescing. “If you’d like,” she says.
“But very well. Venus, then, tomorrow at the Builder’s Guild. Skarlet, earlier, I’ll meet you in the Command Tent in the early morning.”
After having another bite to eat, Naoki continues, “I’m thinking about introducing a series of guilds. Builder’s, certainly, but then some others. I’m not sure where the two of you will fit into things, but…” Naoki shrugs. “We’ll see.”

Zelana was on the clock. Others may feast but this was not the time to relax and lay back. There was time when the night fell and life could be enjoyed in the comfort of one's own tent. Maybe with a piece of bread and some simple meat. That was when she would rest. Now she was to serve, after all she baked the bread for this event, best get the crowd addicted.
She slowly moved through the crowd, cleaning up what needed cleaning and putting things in their place. The lion lass moved more food to the one's who were out, and cleaned what had been spilled on the ground.
Assuredly there would be a few that would object, but the glare they would receive would be enough to shut that up. They would accept the help and assistance, for there was no other option. Time heals all wounds for some, but for others hard work is the only cure. Rest was for when the body refused to work, until then tasks needed doing, drinks needed refilling, and business needed to be continued.

Skarlet stands up and offers to escort Naoki back to her tent. "Shall we walk out together?" She makes sure not to forget the bottle of blood she brought with her, wouldn't want someone taking it by mistake and drinking it. She could stash it away in Naoki's tent then give her attention to the lovely Venus.
