Age: 20
Appearance: The look like a light Portuguese Man O War with a brain. It's brain cavity is clear allowing you to see inside it's body. The tentacles are long and lets them move around quickly and attack themselves to others of their species.
Equipment: They sometimes carry living weapons made out of other Synchs
Skills and Abilities: Using other members of their species they are able to shape their bodies to look like other species. Their mimicry is imperfect and normal intelligent species are able to tell the difference. This process involves synchphons analyzing their target and attaching themselves to each other to shape themselves. This process takes them about half an hour.
Magic helps this process and allows them to change colors to match the species or environment.
They can mimic abilities of other species when they shape shift. The abilities they copy are not as strong as the thing they copy, depending on the power level. They first transform into the user and see the ability in action for them to be able to replicate it.
Given that they are are colonial organisms their bodies can be cut into prices multiple times and are able to regenerate in a couple of days. If their brain is damaged however they die, and the body returns to their colony. Some parts are able to photosynthesize.
Usually they live underwater but are fast climbers and tunnelers because of their hardiness.

Reno shrieked as they saw Alden's power. They gave an order to three humanoid jellyfish, while the ones that were cut down retreated. Three humanoid jellyfish stopped in front of each human opponent and began to analyze them. The bigger one watched Alden with their strange eyes.
Suddenly it began to glow as strange markings began to form in their skin. They babbled, making garbled notices till something came out." Jun you aren't dead" they parroted. Their mimicry power was in action.
Another jellyfish took a shape similar to Jun, sticking pieces of jellyfish flesh into themselves. They used a similarly quick speed to propel themselves and try to charge tackle her.
The last humanoid analyzed Arianne. They grabbed a bone like shield and grabbed a sharpened coral their comrades threw at them. They were ready to mimic them, should they use any supernatural abilities.
Reno shrieked at the humanoids to attack, ordering the stronger ones to be as savage as possible. They ordered more rocks to be thrown. Reno themselves jumped forward, intent on fighting Jun with their partners. The non combatant jellyfish began plotting on how they would help, grabbing whatever they could find on the ground and flinging them at their enemies.
Meanwhile the queen underneath the surface stirred. They felt that this was not a wise fight to pick. Still they stayed behind, watching the one with the runes with analytical eyes.

Age: 53(?)
Appearance: The reference image is a commissioned piece and is accurate.
Alden is 6 even, with shoulder-length messy black hair, and several days worth of beard stubble. He is handsome, with a powerful jaw, mid-set cheekbones, and a perpetual grin that makes him seem younger than he really is. His bright green eyes, constantly sparkle with barely contained mirth. He has the lithe well-muscled body of a swordsman, and he moves with considerable grace and dexterity.
If one were to do a more thorough examination of Alden's eyes they may notice a further detail. Around the outside edge of his iris, there's an intricate series of minuscule grey runes.
Underneath his shirt, Alden's skin is a mass of scar tissue. Starting from just below his neckline, there is very little space that does not sport some relic of a past injury. A particularly observant person may also note that among these scars, some are a bright scarlet. These scarlet scars form an intricate series of runes hiding amidst the rest of the scars.
-------------------------------------------
Equipment: Alden's general loadout when he goes fighting consists of the following:
A twin set of enchanted shortswords. The simple straight blades are unnatural dark, absorbing rather than reflecting light. Giving the enchanted steel an appearance closer to cold iron. The guard has the Isran sun emblem emblazoned in a medallion shape just above the guard, which is wrapped in simple leather. The enchantments increase their sharpness and durability, as well as being able to ignite the blood of anything that he has pierced with either blade.
Numerous braces and hidden throwing knives all over his body. At one point, these were also enchanted but when the calamity struck he didn't have time to grab his original set. So these are all well-made but ultimately mundane weapons. Still, with his strength and skill, they can be quite deadly.
Unfortunately, at present, he is also missing his armour. His preferred armour is leather dyed in mottled black and greys, with strike plates sewn between layers for added protection. His old set was also enchanted for increased protection from physical and magical attacks.
-------------------------------------------
Skills and Abilities: Alden is, for lack of a better term, a weapon master. He has been trained to use almost any weapon you can think to name. Relentless daily training with each, with extraordinarily demanding expectations on performance and harsh incentives for failure giving a level of skill with most of them that make him formidable.
However, his preferred style involves twin short swords. While he is skilled with all of his weapons thanks to training, he discovered a natural talent with the blade. His level of skill when wielding his short swords is on another level entirely, nearly transcendent in his skill.
On top of that, he is a living magical enchantment. Carved into his body are a variety of runes that grant him numerous innate abilities. He is inhumanly strong, around three to four times stronger than a man in a similar state of physical fitness would be. This also applies to his endurance, speed, reflexes, and other physical traits. He also has regenerative abilities exceeding human normal, able to heal from even broken bones in a matter of days rather than weeks.
In addition, he is immune to most poisons and resistant to the rest. The runes etched into his eyes ensure he can see the same no matter the level of light and reveal magical auras to him. Runes along his back make him impossible to scry on directly and provide him a measure of resistance to magical attack. This, combined with training, also makes him immune to magical mental influence. Finally, runes on his feet dampen any sound he might make taking his already considerable stealth abilities to another level entirely.
Speaking of his training also included all of the skills one would think an Assassin should have. He knows how to mix poisons, move without being seen or making noise, scale walls, lie or disguise himself, pick locks, pick pockets, just for starters. He is also quite skilled at clerical work and he has some diplomacy ability after thirty years leading the Sun Marshals.
Beyond all of this, Alden also possesses an incredible amount of willpower. If Alden decides that he will do something, there is very little that can stop him from doing it. In fact, at present, the only thing that could deter him from a course of action is Captain Naoki. The former Empress is the only person he has any loyalty to and he often values her judgement on matters above his own.
-------------------------------------------
Biography: Alden was born to a small farming family in an out-of-the-way village. His parents named him Toan and until he was five his destiny was most likely to live and die on the same farm he was born. However, that all changed when Pride arrived.
The leader of a criminal group known as The Set, Pride offered his parents a sum of money that would make any poor farmer's heart stop. Enough money to change their lives forever and all he wanted was Alden, one of nearly a dozen children. A child that wasn't even old enough to help with chores around the farm yet. And the man as so nice, he wanted a ward that he could train to be a retainer how bad of a life could that be?
The answer to that question was basically Hell. Pride was a potent alchemist, enchanter, and scholar and he had but one goal in mind. To create a superior warrior. Alden was subjected to hellish daily training along with six other children. Forced to learn to fight with every weapon, against any foe, in any condition. His limbs were broken deliberately and he was forced to continue to fight and train in constant agony. And this was among the mildest of the ways he was trained.
The culmination of the training came when he was twelve. When he and the six other children were locked in a room and told that the only one who got to leave... was the only one to survive. Of course, surviving was hardly a reward.
Once Pride had only the strongest of the children left he proceeded to the next step of his plan. Alden's memories and identity were seared away as Pride carved runes into his flesh and his very soul. Transforming the young man into a living magical artifact and keeping him on a drug that suppressed all of his emotions.
From there Alden became the new Wrath of the set, a weapon meant only to slay those he was told to. That may have been all he would be but Pride made a miscalculation, Alden's runes helped him to build an immunity to the dosage meant to keep his emotions in check, a weakness made worse by Pride having let him keep his anger thinking it would make him a better weapon. Eventually, events conspired and Alden snapped when the only member of The Set to be kind to him, Sloth, was killed for threatening to expose Pride.
Alden, driven into a deeper rage than ever before killed Envy, Lust, Gluttony, and even disembowelled Pride. Greed manage to escape and Alden slaughtered everything in his path trying to catch the man. Eventually succeeding in his goal. Bereft of a target for his rage and the chase having left him in the middle of nowhere Alden finally collapsed the trauma and coming off of the dosage causing him to bury most of his memories.
He wound up in Isra where his talents and skill soon earned him the eye of the then, criminal Madam Naoki. She recruited him as one of her enforcers a role he continued as her power expanded and grew until she finally became Empress. His reward for his loyalty? Appointment to the head of The Sun Marshals her special police force, effectively making him her right-hand man.
During this time he also uncovered his own past and learned that Pride had survived, the man had made preparations for such an eventuality and his death only saw his soul moving to a phylactery as he became a lich.
Pride created a new Set, this time making each member just as he made Alden. Eventually, this culminated in Pride attacking Isra and his eventual, final defeat.
Decades have passed since that time and Alden, whose power kept him at his prime for years continued to serve Isra until the new calamity took him to The Island of Mists, his empress reduced to a captain and he now serving as her first mate.

"I'm going to be honest, whatever experiment you are conducting this time I am not sure if it is worth it Jun."
Alden said as his friend struggled to speak without interruption. He wasn't quite sure why she'd covered herself in jellyfish, she was moving faster than normal so perhaps it was that? If it was, he felt as though how cumbersome the jellyfish were and the clear distress it was causing her wasn't worth the trade-off.
His opponent fell to the ground and the mass of jelly flesh retreated. Another was putting itself together and he eyed the occurrence with mild curiosity more than anything else. For most people, this almost certainly would have been an intimidating threat especially as the creatures were clearly learning at an impressive rate. Mimicking what they saw with surprising speed.
"The Usqueans were allies of the Isran empire, they lived in a vast forest. I'm glad they survived."
As he answered Arianne's question he moved easily to avoid the debris being thrown his way. Well, the debris that was large enough that it might hurt at any rate. There was enough of it that he couldn't have dodged it all easily but he didn't mind getting pelted with a small stone or piece of driftwood.
"Are they actually able to talk?"
He asked Jun when they started parroting his words, he then said.
"Are they smart enough to understand us? Because I'd rather not have to kill them."
The one that was staring at him hadn't attacked at first and he'd not struck the first blow. But when it finally did try and savagely bludgeon him Alden reached out and grabbed one of the rocks being thrown by the other jellyfish, stepping back and in the same motion flinging the projectile with a precision and force that could only come from decades of training. The rock whipped at the head of his opponent, who quite simply didn't have the experience or skill to concern Alden... yet. He supposed if things went on long enough they might reach a point of being able to make him do more than dodge and counter.

Jun of the Celadine
Dedicated
Roleplay posts: 292
Age: 33
Appearance: Jun stands at about 5’ 4”, with a willowy, slightly rectangular build. Her tawny olive skin has lost its flush from constantly wearing cloth armor, and she is dotted with small scars, including wrinkled patches of old burns on her left arm. She has deep brown, slightly hooded eyes and not quite straight dark auburn hair. Her face is still youthful and strong, though her gaze suggests she’s seen way too much for her age.
Equipment: An emerald, muddy long coat-style gambeson. A chrome blue longsword with a rusty hilt. Rusted shackles on her wrists ending in broken chains, giving a false impression that she had been a prisoner; the bracelets are easily removed.
Skills and Abilities: What remains of Jun’s power is a mix of animal friendship and elemental control. She can communicate with and control weaker animals, like insects, and request the help of larger, sentient animals (though they are not compelled to obey her). She can perform subtle manipulations of fire, water, earth, wind, and other “elements” like light and shadow. Her most unique ability is to imbue elemental magic into other life forms and channel her spells through them.
She is a decent cook and survivalist and has a solid academic understanding of agriculture and ecology. She is also a decent sword and hand-to-hand fighter.
Biography: Jun of the Celadine was a stereotypical hero of legend. She was one of Isra's mightiest spellcasters, had gone on dozens of adventures, possessed several powerful artifacts, and helped bring peace to the world on many occasions.
A notorious overachiever and workaholic, Jun had driven herself to near madness pursuing powerful magic. In standard fashion, it was the power of friendship that kept her sane.
Now Jun must cope with the fact that much of the world she helped protect has been lost, and that most of the magic power she had accrued over the years has stopped working.
Her family (whose whereabouts are unknown) was a clan of farmers and gardeners. Her tribe lived in peace and harmony in a mostly forested region. Every two hundred years or so, their people produced a powerful mage and master of all elements. Jun was not this chosen one, but rather her grandmother was. Still, Jun's (somewhat unhealthy) obsession with keeping up with her ancestor made her a pretty close second.
Jun has no regrets about her journey, though she sometimes wishes she had spent more learning other skills, like cooking and dancing. She also feels she made a poor lover, though it's likely her old partners passed away in the floodwaters anyways...

"I just need to-"
Jun dodged a rock. It whizzed by her ear.
"I just need-"
She side-stepped an attempt to tackle her.
"-just-"
Then she recognized their platoon leader from their last encounter. Not that she knew Reno's name, but she recognized its determined cry. Damn it.
Jun leaped away from Reno, again with surprising agility. A flurry of thin static bolts between her bonded sea jellies orchestrated the maneuver. She landed with a bit of a stumble back to back with Alden. "Ijustgottapracticewithitalittleyoulookgoodbytheway!" *HIC!*
A barrage of debris flew towards them, and Jun drew her longsword. The air clanged with barely visible strikes and slashes, each punctuated by sparks of electricity and the whistles of split air. The debris bounced off in random directions away from her body.
"Oh I really hope that was too fast for them to copy. *HIC!* And I don't know they never listen they mimic human speech to lure prey in oh forests that sounds ominous and terrifying."
A bit of ash fell out of one of Jun's sleeves. If Alden could see mana with his runes, he'd detect a number of glowing points running up her arm. The ash corresponded with one of the lights fading to nothingness. She had a few left, but it was a finite number...
"Their mimicry is powerful but it requires mana *HIC!* so the mists have limited them too. We need to outlast them, not give them anything too powerful to copy. Intimidation and blunt attacks help too."

Arianne Graves
Established
Roleplay posts: 22
Age: 26
Appearance: Arianne's bright smiles framed by two dimples are hardly the most memorable of her traits, though they're the first things to be noticed. Her heart-shaped face would be the next, framed by a head of intensely curly cinnamon hair. Her skin is dark and her eyes a deep purple, a rare trait in the Graves family that shows up every few generations.
She's rather tall at nearly six feet, sporting the athletic frame of someone who travels often by the way of the sword.
________________________________________
Equipment: A buckler, longsword, and various adventurer's tools complete Arianne's main repertoire. For hunting, she carries a short bow, a skinning knife, and a grappling hook.
_________________________________________
Skills and Abilities: Arianne is an excellent swordswoman, but more because of her resourcefulness rather than professional skill.

"Fantastic. I haven't got anything but my arms and legs-" Interrupted in much the same way as the jellyfish woman, Arianne raised her shield to interrupt the synch attacking her, angling it so that the sharpened coral would slide off the dome, away from her. In the same motion, she moved forward to land a hefty kick into the jelly's bone-shield in an attempt to push it back so they could make a damn decision.
"I'll be honest, I'd have no qualms killing these things or otherwise running, but you all seem to have a stake here, mostly because of you," Arianne pointed at Jun briefly as she backed away. "It's not my normal style to dally. If we're not going to kill them, what are we doing? Why can't we just leave? I know Alden has a good pair of runners."
While she danced with her attackers, she looked out into the water whatever chance she had. Many of the transparent beasts had allocated themselves into a group over in the water. One definitely looked like it was... barking orders. Oh, funny.

Reno screened as their warriors were failing to their attacks. Despite their mimicking they were not really much of s match for the fighters. The humanoids copying Jun as much as they could, from speed to the static shocks.
Despite Reno's best efforts they were not doing much in terms of damage. Not even the jellyfish throwing rocks we're doing much. This was not going to do. The Queen decided to step in now. She quietly swam away from the battle, the only indication if this being her light glowing eyes disappearing into the water.
She swam far, far away from the group. Then with a rush of speed the Queen propulsed herself as fast as she could. A wave of water was pulled by the force of her swimming. It grew larger and larger, till she leaped and fell right into the beach. The wave crashed into the shore, it's powerful landing shaking up rocks, dirt and other degree.
With the Queen on land, Reno decided to increase their assault. Jellyfish that hid away jumped into the bubble of water she held, using it as protection from the 3 humans. The Queen screeched, a sound far louder and more melodic than her children, calling all of them back into the bubble. Reno themselves however stayed outside, intent on defeating Jun despite their massive power imbalance.
She was large and slow in her movement, her hold on the water was not as firm as it used to. Using her strength she whipped her water bubble like a make shift club. She spun her entire body in a dangerous swinging motion in an attempt to trap and drown her opponents. The jellyfish inside chirped in joy as she used her strongest attack.
Unknown to them however, their Queen's display of power attracted unwanted attention from the depths.

"If they can't be reasoned with, they need to be taught to avoid humans."
Alden said simply, the rock he'd thrown knocked his assailant to the ground. What Jun had told him about the jellyfish luring in prey did sound ominous. As much as he wasn't in the mood to kill a bunch of animals for acting like animals, the reality of the situation was he had advantages others did not. He was a skilled fighter with enchanted weapons and magical runes that enhanced his physical abilities. The jellyfish were clumsy and awkward, for Alden they were as easy to handle as a crowd of aggressive toddlers. But that didn't make them harmless, they could potentially swarm him and bring him down or get a lucky hit in.
However, the minimal risk they posed to him and Jun was due to the disproportionate amount of training and experience they had. Arianne was clearly a seasoned warrior but she was struggling more than the two outliers on the combat ability spectrum. This meant that if other people encountered the jellyfish the creatures would almost certainly overwhelm and kill them. Unless the jellyfish were taught to fear and avoid humans in general, forced to become more cautious and therefore give other less battle-hardened survivors the chance to run away.
The attacks ceased for a moment and Alden had a moment where he thought the creatures might retreat. That was quashed when massive jellyfish emerged from the water in a wave, slamming onto the beach hard enough to make the ground shake. He fell backward from the impact but he moved with his momentum, his legs going up and over as he sprang back to his feet and studied the new danger. The Water Bubble Club was certainly an interesting weapon since it contained a number of her own kind. It swung the weapon with impressive strength but the speed was as lacking as the skill.
Alden darted forward into the arc of the club, in a single fluid motion he drew one of his short swords and flicked the blade upward. His aim was the tentacle the queen was using to hold the club, the blade meant to cut into the flesh that directed the weapon. The enchanted weapon was made of sunsteel and harnessed the power of the old world metal for offense in two ways, first with a far deadlier cutting edge than was normally possible, the second was to ignite any liquid it came into contact with including the bodily fluids of his opponent. He wasn't looking to sever the tentacle entirely, just a cut deep enough to force it to drop its weapon and realize that retreat was the best option.

"Was that the line you used to court him with?" Jun chuckled. "Not to mention my love of small fierce things that refuse to give up. *Hic!*" Jun craned her neck back with a wink and a grin to Arianne, who was nearly a whole head taller than her and could probably bridal carry her up a flight of stairs. They had a moment of respite, being no longer surrounded. Jun glared at Reno and stomped her foot. A wall of sand erupted between her and the determined jellieutenant. In a more somber tone, Jun said to Arianne, "Maybe we should leave. I think I could end this fight if I wanted to, but I can just feel in my heart these creatures don't deserve to die. They're survivors like us. Something made them this way. I just know it." Jun realized that was a sentimental statement even for her. She wondered if the wine was wearing off. Then, bzzt. She winced and her shoulder twitched unconsciously. She hissed. "Ahhh, too much thought they don't like that." Again, her new technique seemed to punish users who overused their prefrontal cortexes. Jellyfish and introspection definitely did not mix. As the queen rose up out of the water, Jun's heart beat accelerated. Were they in serious danger now? Should they have been more aggressive? Was it too late now? The glowing mass, the the echoing alien wail, the ominous lights, the elemental attacks, the nostalgia was almost painful. Why... are you guys so cool?!However, despite her bizarre love-hate relationship with these creatures, Jun's reactions in battle weren't dulled in the slightest. With a blur, whistle of air, and gust of sand, she slid in front of Arianne, arms crossed in front of her. She was ready to use her body as a shield to protect her in case Alden couldn't stop the massive water tendril. Her jellyfish pauldrons and pads flared menacingly with azure light and sparks, and the sand and sea water itself seem to part from her aura in deference. Gripped tightly in one of her fists was a small, runed wooden wand. From her other hand dribbled more ash, suggesting yet another mana seed had been sacrificed.

Arianne could only laugh at Jun's comment as she fended off yet another slash from the coral-swords with her shield, then ducked out of the way of one more rock. "I've got a few others. Would you like to hear them?" she teased, returning the mage's wink. "I can't say I don't share the same adoration."
With a change of expression, the warrior turned her focus to the problem at hand. "What do you think, then? They just look like animals to me, and scared animals all act the same way when they're backed into a corner. Either that, or they're predators and they're looking for a snack." She did admit to herself that these things seemed a little smarter than your run-of-the-mill jellyfish, but they weren't trying to communicate at all and were on the offensive, so they garnered little sympathy from her.
This thought was only reinforced by the wave. She'd spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours on the beach with Katiana playing in the waves. What was the best way to weather one? Well, you dove into it.
Squatting and keeping her body close to the ground, she placed her sword flat against her shield both of which were now above her head, where the water would wash against it with the least resistance as she jumped forward into the wave. This made it so that she didn't move half as much as Alden when it crashed down.
Once the wave retreated, Arianne was surprised to see that Jun was now directly in front of her, and in front of Jun was... a shield of sand. Arianne's eyes sparkled.

The queen screeched in pain from the cuts on its tentacles. She had a good resistance to magical and physical attacks, but even that had its limits. Unlike the Synch's regular screeches this one was loud and booming. Anyone who didn't cover their ears fast enough would be hit with a wave of pain, pun definitely intended. They Synchs screeched in unison, amplifying her loud voice.
Reno was panicking as the queen was attacked. Once she was in any danger the crew was less likely to listen to them. The swarm would always prioritize her over their orders.
Once again they felt hatred bubble into their metaphorical heart. The four tentacles creatures were always cruel and monstrous like the ones before. Just as the Queen would say they were all the same. Their previous masters, the ones before that and even the ones before that. It is the reason she forbade ever trying to make contact with them very again.
With a screech they lashed out at Jun. They tried to call for help, from their two close humanoids. They seemed to be more loyal to them. The one copying Jun jumped right next to them, mimicking the same attack Jun was doing in ana attempt to stop them from hurting the Queen.
Suddenly something else emerged from the water. At first the Synchs didn't notice it's presence, until they heard the Queen make a distinct melodic tune. She was calling all to the safety of her water bubble. Even Reno themselves did not disobey this order. every jellyfish, hidden and in the open jumoed into her bubble.
What came out of the water was strange to say the least. It was some kind of orcsl like creature, that emerged slowly from the sea. As it stepped into the beach it was walking on its hind legs, before the beast got on all fours. It was covered by scars and strange blue runes that shined with the light of the sun.
It's runes flared as it got on all fours and tactfully charged at the humans and jellyfish. Water began to cover it in a similar bubble like the queen. The humans were getting in the way of its mission, so it did not hesitate to try and eliminate them.
It charged at the humans, deciding that eliminating them should be its first priority. It went for the one with jellyfish covering them, gnashing its teeth for its next meal.

Alden

The queen jellyfish didn't retreat when he slashed into the flesh of its tentacle, it also didn't drop its weapon. That was less than ideal and the screech it let out a moment later compounded matters. He was forced to grind his teeth and he staggered back a step. Pain was an old acquaintance of Alden's, he'd been trained extensively to power through it, but a loud noise was hard to ignore.
Fortunately, there was no follow-up attack to accompany the staggering effect of the queen's screech. What there was, was the appearance of a new creature on the shore. One that seemed to be more dangerous than the jellyfish. Perhaps he was just biased since the orca-like creature had an easily recognizable strength than the jelly's ability to mimic and learn to become more dangerous.
The situation was escalating and while Alden was trying to default to violence less, he did not think he was being given many options. For the first time in that fight, he moved at nearly full speed. He dashed toward the orca from the side, bringing his sword around in a quick efficient arc aimed at an eye. His runes burned as he put strength behind it that gave the swing power even without setting his feet properly.

Reno ceased the opportunity as soon s they saw it. They ordered their swarm to push Alden to the orca and stun him by throwing things at him. They hoped that they could kill two birds with one stone, give themselves time to flee and get rid of an enemy.
The Queen made another powerful scream, as the jellyfish began grabbing rocks upon rocks to disrupt Alden's attempts to fight the orca. One jellyfish threw some of their teraforming jellyfish matter, trying to get it to stick to their back and slow them down.

This lady has good reflexes, Jun thought. Diving into the water to avoid the wave was a clever move. She wondered briefly if Alden had found himself an apprentice of some sort. She was brave, too.
She would have liked to have given the nearest synch some pointers on how to improve its mana flow, but the copy cat retreated along with their stubborn lieutenant. Jun took a moment to breath and release some tension in her muscles, not because the fight was over, but because she suspected she'd need to galvanize her body for a follow-up combo attack or intercepting strike. Alden was sure to take the lead if things got serious, but she wouldn't dare let him have all the fun to himself.
I've got about three mana seeds left. My jelly fish buddies still have some power too. Her mind quickly calculated how much more firepower she could contribute, though she really hoped their queen had ordered a final retreat.
But alas, no such luck.
As the presence came towards the beach, Jun glanced at the water bubble and quickly recognized this as turtling behavior. The Queen was trying to protect them from something even worse. Jun glared at the shoreline. A mass of muscle and jaw came barreling towards her. And in that moment it all made sense. It all fell together like pieces of a puzzle. This is what turn you violent! This is what you've been running from all this time!
As Jun expected, Alden intercepted with a slash just as another mana seed zipped into her palm. Straight for the eyes too. Yah, he was officially out of mercy. And so was she.
Sand exploded everywhere as Jun charged forward. The tip of her wand slashed at one of the orca's legs, whistling as it cut the air. The dent she'd make in its water bubble would cavitate into itself and burst into icicles. This ice would spread to try to encase the limb and slow the were orca down. If allowed, there would be another blast of water and sand as Jun changed direction and went for another pass, this time aiming for the other side of the creature. The opposite side of her wand grazed the shield, from which this time hot steam would burst out to try scalding a different leg. One more blast of sand and Jun would leap behind Alden, catch the jellyfish meant for his back, spin around, and fling it towards the were orca. In the brief split-second her palm made contact with the creature's bell, azure mana bolts would spread through its body. When it struck the orca, it would release painful static bolts which would cause some of its muscles to cramp up.
And with that, Jun would pause and stagger. Half of her temporary jelly familiars would turn dark and slough off her body, hitting the sand with little plops. More ash fell out of her sleeve. She doubted she could do that again.
"Help us." She'd call out to the flanking synch swarm. Of course it was pointless; they wouldn't understand. But as she pleaded, she'd face them and point aggressively at the were orca.
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend!" She pleaded before turning around and drawing her sword. Jun only had one, maybe two moves left...

The scream didn't just ring inside Arianne's head, it rang inside her bones. The vibrations displaced the nerves in every part of her body and shook her stomach, forcing breakfast and bile up her gullet and through her lips. It was a pittance, but it left her dizzy. She hardly had a second to recover before the second scream came, making the warrior's knees wobbly. Still, she stood, brandishing her sword and shield as she swished her mouth with saliva and spat the remaining vomit from her mouth. The warrior stood her ground, hefting the buckler, ready to take the force of the swing-
And then they retreated. She raised a brow, watching as Alden tore away from the fight, toward... gods, what was that? Some ginormous black and white fish. Arianne had never seen anything quite like it before. Despite this, the jellyfish were still attacking him, and Arianne could at least distract them. Rushing forward, the woman took a leap towards one of the jellies attacking Alden and aimed to smash its head in with the shield.

The jellyfish hadn't displayed a level of skill that suggested many of them would be able to hit a target moving as fast as Alden. That being said, exceptional aim wasn't required if enough of the sky was filled with projectiles. Something smacked into his back but he ignored the impact as his blade slashed across the Orca's eye. His goal wasn't to kill it, simply drive it off course from its target.
That being said, the jellyfish had perhaps made a tactical error in deciding to attack Alden. Under normal circumstances, he would have stuck with the orca until the creature was dead, but with Jun present to send out a burst of ice, he decided to focus on the ranged issue. He turned and practically flew across the beach, his runes made him faster than a purely mortal man and he had a singular intent.
Alden was going after the queen, he figured if he killed the largest of them that would be sufficient to get them to retreat. While Jun seemed to be of the opinion that the jellyfish deserved to live, they were simply far too dangerous for him to feel comfortable leaving at his back. His blades struck out at the flying rocks but some of the matter stuck to his clothing and the occasional rock got through. But the pain of the stones wasn't enough to stall him and it would take quite a bit of matter on him for him to start to slow, which was unlikely to happen with Arianne smacking around some of his attackers.

Reno Synch
Committed
Roleplay posts: 56

The queen and the synchs screeched again. The mimic that attempted to copy Alden was ordered by Reno to protect the queen. They used blinding speed to try and recklessly in an attempt to leave Alden open to the next onslaught.
Reno was not going to let them hurt the queen. They then decided to pull out their only their hope for survival of their species. They attached themselves a long chain of arm like tentacles. Their nerve endings linked together, with their length being long enough to reach far away.
They grabbed onto the the back of the Alden Mimic and pulled themselves to it's back. In a desperate attempt to grab onto Alden, they sprung out it's nerve endings and attempted to latch onto him.
The orca closed his eyes for Alden's attacks and began to click. The high-pitched clicks where almost unnoticeable. It was more intelligent than what it's appearance let on. And it didn't need its eyes to be able to see. The cacophony of the sounds of battle didn't bother it one bit, instead this allowed it an advantage.
Even as the queen lashed out violently something resonated within her mind. Like they heard Jun's call. Her next cry was not one of desperation. Instead it sounded like the beautiful call of the sea. One of its eye, attached to a tentacle stared through her as she brandished her water bubble and recklessly swung it around. That eye kept looking at Jun as she attacked, not once leaving looking away.
