After Uma was brought back to camp, Asadrack apologized to Tana for failing again and that he needed time to think, even a blind man could see how much that failure had affect the man.
Asa chose the spot where he met Tana, this was a part of a long beach that was located on the trinity island, he was sitting on the sand, holding his knees.
The sound of the waves and quiet sobbing could be heard but the man was alone, or at least he thought he was.

Jun of the Celadine
Dedicated
Roleplay posts: 292
Age: 33
Appearance: Jun stands at about 5’ 4”, with a willowy, slightly rectangular build. Her tawny olive skin has lost its flush from constantly wearing cloth armor, and she is dotted with small scars, including wrinkled patches of old burns on her left arm. She has deep brown, slightly hooded eyes and not quite straight dark auburn hair. Her face is still youthful and strong, though her gaze suggests she’s seen way too much for her age.
Equipment: An emerald, muddy long coat-style gambeson. A chrome blue longsword with a rusty hilt. Rusted shackles on her wrists ending in broken chains, giving a false impression that she had been a prisoner; the bracelets are easily removed.
Skills and Abilities: What remains of Jun’s power is a mix of animal friendship and elemental control. She can communicate with and control weaker animals, like insects, and request the help of larger, sentient animals (though they are not compelled to obey her). She can perform subtle manipulations of fire, water, earth, wind, and other “elements” like light and shadow. Her most unique ability is to imbue elemental magic into other life forms and channel her spells through them.
She is a decent cook and survivalist and has a solid academic understanding of agriculture and ecology. She is also a decent sword and hand-to-hand fighter.
Biography: Jun of the Celadine was a stereotypical hero of legend. She was one of Isra's mightiest spellcasters, had gone on dozens of adventures, possessed several powerful artifacts, and helped bring peace to the world on many occasions.
A notorious overachiever and workaholic, Jun had driven herself to near madness pursuing powerful magic. In standard fashion, it was the power of friendship that kept her sane.
Now Jun must cope with the fact that much of the world she helped protect has been lost, and that most of the magic power she had accrued over the years has stopped working.
Her family (whose whereabouts are unknown) was a clan of farmers and gardeners. Her tribe lived in peace and harmony in a mostly forested region. Every two hundred years or so, their people produced a powerful mage and master of all elements. Jun was not this chosen one, but rather her grandmother was. Still, Jun's (somewhat unhealthy) obsession with keeping up with her ancestor made her a pretty close second.
Jun has no regrets about her journey, though she sometimes wishes she had spent more learning other skills, like cooking and dancing. She also feels she made a poor lover, though it's likely her old partners passed away in the floodwaters anyways...

Jun hesitated to leave the tent where Uma was staying, but she realized the other healers were more capable than her as a collective, and there was little she could do to help. Eventually she was able to tear herself away from the camp.
Stupid mist. Stupid beach. Stupid sand. Coarse, rough, irritating, getting everywhere.
Just when she had found a suitable spot to fume, she noticed a lone man sitting by himself, sobbing. Asadrack.
It illicited an instant, uncomfortable knife-plunge feeling in her heart. She wanted to rip her hair out. This, scenes like this, people crying on beaches, mourning over injured and dead loved ones, this is exactly what she spent years abusing her body learning how to prevent.
She slowed her approach, trying to decide what to do. After a few seconds, she decided.
"Pst, excuse me. Is this sobbing area for one person only or can two people sob in it?"

Asadrack got scared by Jun, he looked at her, his eyes red, his cheeks wet and with a surprised expression on his face, he didn't know how to react at first.
The man quicly wiped his eyes, cleared his throat "I..." He considered telling the woman to leave but decided it against it "Yeah, if you don't mind sitting beside a failure." He sighed
Although he tried, Asa's tears wouldn't stop flowing "Sorry, this is pathetic huh, a grown man like me crying like that," he said between sobs.

"What are you kidding me? Failure's my middle name." Jun made her way right next to Asadrack. "As long as you don't mind sitting next to a washed-up has-been." She carefully eased her way down into the sand.
"There's nothing wrong with a grown man crying. It just hurts to watch, and it catches people off-guard. I think most people tell men not to cry out of cowardice."
Seeing Asadrack's tears face to face was in fact enough for her to start leaking too.
She pointed at her eyeball and gave a forced chuckle. "See? It hurts to watch," she said with a cracked voice as a tear rolled down her cheek.

After all the crying ended Asa decided to open up to Jun and tell her about what he had previously planned.
"I had a rough childhood, lived in the streets up until my teenage years, i stole and scamed people, after that a man adopted me, he was the leader of a mercenary group, we didn't had a name for the group but everyone seemed to want to pay us to fight their wars." Asa had a sad chuckle "I guess i went from stealing bro killing people, never before i fought for something i believed in, everyone most likely died when the sea ate the land, after i got in a ship, some of the people seemed to become mad and they started a fight, the captain was killed and i tried bro protect his family."
Asa lifted his shirt, showing a scar on his belly "I failed, got thrown overboard after i got stabbed, the first thing I saw when i woke up was Tana's eyes, the usquean queen, while i was healing i fell in love with her and her kindness, never before I saw a monarch that actually cared about their subjects, than, we went scouting for a good place to build the village, a monster appeared and I failed to protect the woman i love."
Asa stopped for a second, he was clearly trying to keep his composure, "After she asked me to hunt i thought..." The man closed his eyes for a second trying not to cry again "I thought that i could prove myself that I'm not useless and once I got back I was going to propose to her."
By now tears were once again rolling down the man's cheeks "She might be pregnant, how am I suppose to raise a child if I everything I do becomes a failure ? What if i can't assure their safety ? I don't know what to do."

Jun sat quietly and listened to Asadrack's story. As she did, she noticed that while Asadrack's beard rivaled the dwarf's, the rest of his face was somewhat boyish. It wasn't even until now he realized he was younger than her. Now she was embarrassed, for at this moment he seemed to have more of a right to cry than she did.
Her own teary fit wasn't as bad as his, so she was composed enough to let out a warm smile and rub his shoulder.
"To be honest, I wish you didn't have to be the one to ensure her safety."
Jun unclasped her gambeson from top to bottom. It wasn't very late and the beach was a bit warm anyways. But she usually kept it on when she could stand it. This time though, she slipped it off and let it slide behind her. It was a long-coat style, so she was able to sit on the bottom skirt like a beach blanket.
Her cotton undershirt was short-sleeved. Her right arm featured numerous little scars. If they were larger she'd be poke dotted. But her left arm was worse. The scar tissue was practically a sleeve, a particularly nasty ancient burn.
"You know, in a way you're lucky. Not a single thing that has happened to you has been your fault. Me, I had a pretty good childhood. So every single awful thing that's happened to me has been my fault."
She rolled her eyes and then made a swirling motion with her finger to signify the island and the mist. "Well, except maybe this." She smirked, though her own tears hadn't dried yet.

"caring for her is something i want, i would give my life for her if needed, i never loved a woman before nor a woman loved me either," Asa's smile returned to his face as he thought of Tana, Jun would be able to notice that his feelings were genuine ones.
The man noticed the woman's scars, he seemed a bit curious but decided not to ask afraid of bringing back bad memories or being rude, he looked at the clouds, the smile he had disappeared "She must be disappointed, i was suppose to bring food back to the camp but instead i almost brought a dead body, if hadn't miss that first attack when the beast didn't knew where i was things would be different."
He layed on the sand, he felt the warmth of the sun and the wind striking against his wet cheeks, "Jun, i want to spend the rest of my life with Tana but I don't feel worthy," as those words left his mouth he chuckled "last time I said that she got mad at me." The smile that came with the chuckle faded quick "but it's still the truth, would be selfish of me still propose to her even after that failure ?"

Jun winced as she thought about how her bolas had missed, and it happened immediately after Asadrack had gotten hurt. She had also failed to stab it, or even provide a meaningful distraction. Really the only one who'd done any damage to the moss auroch, besides Duen of course, was the tree.
She could certainly commiserate, but was that really what Asadrack needed to hear? She sighed, and took a moment to try to consider a broader perspective.
"Well, if it's any consolation, I think the mist, and the forest it deposited us in, has been making fools of all of us. Somewhere out there, in other distant parts of this land, there are probably people fighting for survival just like us. And some of them are not gonna make it home tonight."
Jun could feel herself getting angry again. But she controlled herself.
"I know this sounds strange, but I think I understand something about Tana you don't. Right now, she probably feels more like a failure than you do."
It's an ex-spell caster thing, she thought to herself.

Asadrack poundered on Jun's words for a second but he couldn't figure out why Tana would feel like that,"How would she feel like that ? She's being doing a great job, if it wasn't for her most of us wouldn't be here, I certainly wouldn't."
The man seemed puzzled, "failure ? She isn't a failure," he thought to himself as the clouds slowly drifted through the skies, he frowned a bit trying to figure out why she would Tana feel like the before hearing what Jun would say next.

"Of course she's been doing a good job. She's a queen. They tend to be pretty competent. Usually."
Jun hadn't even had time to wonder if Lady Naoki had survived the floodwaters. Her heart hurt again, but she bore it.
"The Usqueans were a great people. They loved the forests and lived in harmony with it. And Tana was a mighty healer. I'll bet she could have blinked and set Uma right had this happened in her world. And now look at us. Every injury, every mistake, they reflect on her, especially if she's worth her salt as a ruler. But you know, when she found me dehydrated on the beach, she brought me to a stream herself, without asking for any guards or servants. She did it herself, and she was recovering from poison. That woman is tough. She's not going to give up easily."
Jun suddenly found herself being inspired. "I guess what I'm trying to say is, you can feel like a failure, and not be one."
Hmm, I should probably write that down. That's a good line.

Asadrack ran his hand on his beard thinking, "I guess you're right, still, this feeling sucks." He sighed.
The man sat down and started to draw lines on the beach with his fingers, the lines would connect to eachother and would slowly take form "I don't have any friends here yet, people know of me and Tana is my only companion, i want to make her happy you know, marry that woman, perhaps, you could help me think of something special to do for her."
After a while it was clear what he was drawing on the sand, it looked like Tana, it wasn't a perfect drawing since it was done on the sand but it was clearly her.

Jun smirked a little when it seemed she got through to him. She stared off at the horizon, thinking perhaps she had gotten through to herself too.
"Yah, still sucks."
She was thinking of getting in some practice with her sword and bolas. She had already started reaching for them when Asa brought up giving Tana a gift. She noticed the drawing in the sand and recognized it as Tana. Jun herself was awful at drawing anything that didn't involve runes.
"Well, maybe if you could do that, but like, etched in a wooden plank and then polish the edges and then slap on some varnish I think? I think women like that sort of thing."

"That's..." Asa straighten his posture, it was clear his mind was already racing with ideas. he continued speaking "A great idea, maybe the Moir can help with the supplies, if she's not too busy telling everyone that Tana is pregnant." Asa chuckled.
He cleared the sand, detached a small chain that was tightening the spear head from it handle and with some strength her separated the two pieces, "give me a second," he said, starting to use the sand as a sketchbook so he could have an idea of what to do.
For a short amount of time he used the tip of the spear blade to make thinner lines, soon enough he had a picture of Tana, with a shy looking smile and a crown of flowers.
"Hmmm, what do you think ?"

A vision of cute bearded babies with healing powers popped into her head again.
"That would explain why you want to propose to her." Her mouth was slightly agape.
Jun could barely stay idle. Now their village had a baby on the way. She wanted to get training this instant. But... Asadrack's drawing was very pretty.
"I think it's perfect. Oh hang on, there is a little..." Jun casually waved a hand, and a small crease of errant sand removed itself from the outline of Tana's hair.
