Appearance: Rain has medium tan skin, earthy brown eyes and darkest brown hair that has been kept in long braids. A collection of teeth and fangs from her successful hunts have been sewn into the length of some of her braids. She wears warpaint that denote her tribe and family lineage in terms of pattern and color.
She mostly wears clothes made of leather, fur and dyed woven plant fibre that has been carefully sewn together. She typically wears a headress using the head fur/skull/antlers of the animals commonly found within the season.
Equipment: Her weapons consists of two daggers that that can be joined and placed in the same sheath. They have symbols etched into the handle and base of the blade.
A small flask of blood that has been treated with herbs and oil to prevent coagulation.
Pouch of herbs.
Skills and Abilities: Hunting and tracking: She usually hunts creatures of a bestial nature, but it not necessarily limited to animals.
Dancing: Due to the nature of her Magic, learning the proper base skills to dance was a must. She specializes in an acrobatic form of weapon dancing. She can use swords and spear/staves in her routines though her preferred is her two dagger technique.
Simple weaponry skills: handy for all things self defense related, hunting related and dance related (See Dancing with Dagger).
Survivalist: They aren't fancy, but they are knowledgeable about what is needed to survive such as fire-making, shelter building, how to clothe and feed herself.
Dancing with Daggers(Ritual blood magic):
This ritual magic required both a component of blood to be poured onto her daggers and specific movements to be completed for an effect to be generated. Missing a step or getting interrupted will prevent the magic from taking effect. Once the effect is done the blood will "burn" away and require more blood before more effects can be completed.
Effects:
-Hunter's Breath: Rain points her daggers tips towards each other so that her arms form a loose circle where she will perform several increasingly fast spins either moving or in place. After, these spins are completed, she will break the circle while the other is kept at the level of her midsection while she slows her spins till she comes to a full stop. Successfully completing this set will give her an increase in her vigor/energy and allow her to feel significantly less exhaustion in the moment. Adequate rest will be needed after the effect wears off depending how strenuous her activities were while the effect was in place.
-Rage of the hound: The movements are short abrupt and fast, while she stomps her foot on the ground with a snarling expression. The movements are more flexible in style but she needs to keep stomping the beat long enough to go in blood rage. Blood rage will make her hyper focus on a single target, and make her strikes faster and stronger. She is less likely to notice pain in this state but will become acutely aware after it wears off or upon target death.
Blood's Eye: Rain must be able to complete her routine in the four directions. This is a slower more meditative dance that will put her in a trance like state in order to view the memories of the blood her blades are coated with. Depending on freshness and quantity the memories may be clearer and abundant, or fuzzy and sparse.
Wrath of the Ancestors: Has to manage to finish a dance in a circle and end where she started. Once the circle is complete all blood on her person, including her own becomes highly acidic to others and may leave burns and disfigurement to any that comes into contact till the effect ends.
Sickness Curse: A dance that required her to balance her daggers upright (By the handle) in her palms while she dances in place. The blood component must also be from the intended target, and for the target to get cut once dance is completed for chance of effect. If the effect takes, then the target will get an infection that can include high fever, Vomiting, delirium, sluggishness, Pains and if left untreated; possible death. If The Target has a decent immune system they may not feel any effect, or will get symptoms but eventually get better with proper tending on the wound itself. Disinfection the wound early enough can also prevent malady.
Dance of Stagnation: A fairly fluid dance that requires her to move loosely, meaning her daggers cut less deeply when they strike while she is performing this dance. If she manages to cut the target during this routine, the target will get a sudden onset of Anemia symptoms, which include Fatigue, weakness, dizziness ect.
These effects are difficult to mix together without unfortunate side effect, that being "Blood Curse". Blood Curse causes a burning sensation in the individual's veins all throughout their bodies It is an incapacitating kind of pain that Almost all Blood Dancers usually pass out from long before the effect wears off.
Biography: From When she was a little girl, Rain has only really known her village and the friendly faces of most of her fellow tribe. They had a mostly secure place in the heard of the forest, not far from rivers and lakes. They Were always big on hunting sport for both food and fun, though even if they came back empty handed, they'd still have the food from the field to not go hungry. She remembers the day she was old enough to get her face painted and how proud her mother was when she and the other kids all began learning the steps to their dances, while her father was in charge of teaching them to hunt. She remembers how one of the Elders, a braggart, showed his scars and made up wild stories about how he got them, while his long time friend and brother rolled his eyes, knowing the real reason was because he'd bailed his ass out of trouble more time than he even remembers by now.
She remembered when she she had performed her successful spell after so many failed attempts, falls and missteps. To boot, for all her trouble she was able to bring back to the village her first catch, a young deer they proceeded to cook up and celebrate the milestone. The day after, her mother tearfully told her that there was nothing more she could teach her, and that as for the rest, she should heed to the Ancestors and find it with her heart.
She remembered some bitterly cold winters after, a few faces passing away in peace, And her spending much of her time communing with her ancestors. She was a full woman, her village relied on her now, and as one of their best she did all she could to provide and teach. She had been in the middle of a hunt when the flood waters came...

Rain could only rely on her other senses, as the darkness came too swift to adjust it. She felt everything through her blades as it ran through flesh far too easily. Healthy flesh had some resistance, this one did not in the slightest. The smell that wafted from the now open wound had been enough to make her gag and recoil. Her stomach turned right around, so upset at the stench it had mistaken her for having been poisoned, and as a result she found herself wretching into the cursed water. Coughing as she spilled what little her stomach had, the witch hadn't had the time to avoid the monster's swipe at her head. The force had knocked her into the nearby rates that had long been left abandoned to the rot. They hardly had the integrity too support her weight, and she even broke through.
Seeing stars in the darkness, she could have sworn she was outside again, until Perkins' voice calling out to her by.. certainly not her name, it was enough to snap her back to reality. She pushed herself out of the half broken wreck that had become of the crates, cursing at the splinters snagged her skin and clothes. She stood firm on her feet again, though she no longer had the benefit of knowing where her opponent was.
Perkin's light however, was enough to tell her where he was, and in the end, that's what mattered. Taking a chance, she ran towards the light, hoping to get to him before it could go out again. She she thought she was close enough she reached out towards the frightened man. "We need to find something to burn and make light!" Everything down here was damp, what could possible catch fire in these conditions?

The massive, bloated figure lumbered towards her through the water, following the fleeing blood dancer as she splashed towards the flickering glow in Perkins' hands. The match only lasted a few moments before it burned down to the sailor's fingertips, forcing him to drop it and light another. The second took a few attempts to light before the matchhead sparked into life, the soft fsst accompanied by Perkins' sigh of relief. Hearing the commotion as Rain and the monster headed towards him, he started making his way towards the exit. He abandoned the bag of tools and supplies as he left, leaving the canvas sack on a soggy crate in the darkness. The quartermaster would likely make him scrub the decks for weeks for losing the gear, but he didn't care. He jumped in shock as Rain touched him, but seemed reassured when he saw that it was her.
"Oh thank the heavens," he said, dropping the match and striking another. "Nothing's going to burn down here, woman! Look around you! Everything's damp and rotten and soaked. The only thing that isn't covered in water is...uh...the tar?"
He glanced back into the darkness towards where he'd left the supplies, several yards away against the inside of the hull. Meanwhile, out in the darkness, the splashing of the hulking creature approached. It was invisible in the darkness and the echoing made it difficult to tell how close it was, but it was definitely approaching.

Rain had to choose whether of not to abandon her pride in favor of a tactical retreat instead. The steps in the water approaching gave them precious little time to organize their advantage.
"Nevermind.. Let's get out while we can. We will not join the ancestors today." finally said nudged Perkins ahead."Go."
He was more defenseless than she was, it was only natural that she be the wall between him and the lumbering monster stalking them in the darkness. She stayed only a step behind him, and cast a glance over her shoulder as they hurried their way towards what she hoped was out.

As Rain and Perkins made their painfully slow way through the water towards the escape ladder, the ever-present splashing of the monster behind them seemed to get closer with every passing moment. Although they couldn't see it, they could hear it approaching, lumbering carelessly through the water as it sought its prey. Rain could hear its breathing now, a sickly, gurgling wheeze that sounded like its lungs were full of thick fluid. The sound of the beast frightened poor Perkins even more than before, and he rushed on ahead with reckless abandon. He'd given up on trying to light matches on the move, choosing instead to wade frantically through the darkness towards the distant glow of the hatch until suddenly-
With a cry of shock and a loud splash, Perkins fell. He flailed and choked, unable to find his balance and get to his feet on his new peg leg. As his head broke the surface, he screamed, slapping at his face.
"Get them off!" he begged, thrashing wildly in the dark, filthy water. "They're all over me! They're biting me, get them off! Help me!"

Running through knee deep water offered the kind of resistance that could tire a person out fast, but the adrenaline coursing through Rain's veins kept her pace steady. The oppressive gaze she felt on them and the ever approaching sound of haggard breathing was all the motivation she needed. The witch resisted the urge to run past Perkins, not wanting to leave the man behind. Instead, for all her trouble she tripped over him in the pitch darkness after he'd fallen into the water himself.
For a moment she scrambled to find purchase on anything she could haul herself out from in a panic, but instead managed to break surface on her own.
The thought of those white blobs she'd glimpsed on Perkins's hand covering her had he try to swipe at any that would have latched on with her hands, though in the end, there or not they were less of a concern than the monster quite literally breathing down their necks. Not thinking too hard, Rain reached for Perkins and looked to grab a fistful of his shirt and, after getting back on her feet she'd haul him up as well. "The Ladder! Get to the ladder first or it will get us!" She urged him. The.. whatever they were could wait till they were out of imminent danger.

The leech-like worms latched onto any bit of exposed skin almost immediately, biting into the vulnerable flesh and trying to burrow their cold, slimy heads under the skin. The skin-crawling sensation was incredibly unpleasant, but not immediately fatal. After some searching in the slimy water, Rain's hands would find Perkins' shirt and haul him up to the surface. The young man sputtered and coughed, spitting out stagnant seawater and wriggling parasites. For once, he didn't gripe or complain before he started running, splashing his way towards the salvation of the ladder.
As the pair approached the narrow beam of light coming from the open hatch, they'd realize that their pursuer had vanished. It seemed that the hulking creature had lumbered back off into the shadows as they'd neared the light, abandoning the chase. Perkins scrambled up the ladder as quickly as he could with his peg leg, flopping down on the upper deck and letting out a sigh of relief. His relief only lasted a few moments before he remembered that he was covered in parasitic worms and yelped in shock and disgust, immediately beginning to slap and pull at the fat white creatures as they burrowed into his skin. For her part, Rain would find a number of the worms attached to her own body, tunneling into her flesh like the maggots in the ship's rotten hull.

While Rain felt the sting of the multitude of bites on her flesh, the adrenaline pushing for her more immediate survival had her ignore them in favor of helping Perkins get up the Ladder. Just because the beast seemed to have retreated didn't mean it wasn't still there. Its "fear" of the light could have been a courtesy more than anything, and lingering too long could give them a false sense of security. Just after Perkins she also scrambled up the ladder, but unlike Perkins, she hissed and swatted her hands at the borrowing worms. One or two bites could be ignored, but there were dozens of bites happening all at once, They'd mostly congregated on the scrapes on her arms, legs and the bit of her midriff that got exposed when she'd fallen in the water.
They needed a smoke bath and fast. "Get these off of us!" The dancer called out to anyone who could hear them while she pulled out a worm on her arm that had started sinking far deeper in her flesh than she was comfortable with. The second she pulled it off, she'd thrown it onto the ship's deck and stomped the offending creature to death. The spot the worm had burrowed bled as there was now an open wound. Seeing the blood, she suddenly had an idea.
Rain brought her daggers up and smeared the blood from the open wound onto them. The daggers were then brought above her head and she knocked them three times causing the metal to ring. The marks at the base of both daggers flashed a brighter red, like sunlight through a ruby, before returning to their normal state. The Ancestors accepted her sacrifice.
What happened next would likely puzzle anyone who wasn't familiar, as she begun to move her body in ways that didn't match the situation. They were deliberated, and each movement flowing into the next, despite the pain she still felt from the worms. Each movement was a step forward, her daggers moved together, sometimes in tandem, sometimes not. There were spins, leaps, and times she moved her body gracefully all while taking a step.
It lasted only about a minute till the sum of the witch's movements had her dance around Perkins, only stopping once she stood exactly where she'd started off and ending the routine with her daggers crossed at the level of her chest. The blood smeared on her daggers flaked away from the metal, and with the ritual completed, so would anything that comes into contact with her blood. All she had to do now was endure the bites, let them borrow, and let the worms realize their fatal mistake too late as they'd encounter the Wrath of the Ancestors. It wasn't like she was going to leave Perkins alone in his plight either, with the tip of her dagger, she pricked her finger.
"Hold still." Was all the warning she had for him as she'd set the drop of blood onto a stubborn worm, and tried to do so for as many as she could to help him with. She apologized every time she might have accidentally burned him, but offered very little else in comfort.

A handful of sailors happened to be around when the two would-be carpenters emerged from the depths of the bilge, but none seemed in any hurry to help. In fact, when they saw the worms biting and burrowing into their shipmates, the surrounding men and women backed away. The horror and disgust were written clearly across their faces as they retreated, eyeing the two would-be carpenters like a pair of lepers. Rain and Perkins were left to fend for themselves, abandoned in the cramped below-decks corridor.
The effect of Rain's dance was immediate. The blessing of her ancestors made her blood sear and burn any worm unfortunate enough to touch it, driving the hateful things from her body and sending them to the floor in the grips of violent spasms and seizures. Remarkably, even Perkins stopped his whining as she danced, his shocked gaze following the flowing motions of her body with something akin to awe. He allowed her to help him with his worms without complaint, twitching and whimpering only slightly when she burned his skin.
"H-how did you do that?" he asked, grimacing as she burned a fat parasite from his arm. "It's like you've turned to poison...but all you did was dance! What did you do?"
As he gazed up at her, Rain would see something flicker in his eye. A thin white worm barely thicker than a hair twisted and swam in the man's wide, dialated pupil. He blinked, but otherwise didn't seem to notice.

Dancing with Daggers(Ritual blood magic):

"More that my blood has become liquid fire." Rain corrected on the status of her blood as she dripped the last of what she could on the worms she could find. An actual healer would likely be needed to ensure his injuries were tended to. "It is the gift of the blood and the blessing of the ancestors that grant me abilities to survive, or would have if... whatever that was wasn't so unfamiliar to me." She explained and look Perkins in the eyes.
"Uhhh..." There was a moment she debated whether to tell him about the worm in his eye. She certainly wasn't about to blind him with her blood if there might be a better solution available. "Why don't we go and have your wounds looked at? They might be able to help you with the uh... worm in your eye." The truth needed to be said, but she spoke to him a bit gentler than she had in the below deck.
The Dancer's daggers were put away, and afterwards she offered her hand over to the unfortunate sailor to help him up. With her blood in its state, she didn't have to worry about the worms transferring to her. Where they'd bitten and burrowed, blood dripped down her skin without burning her like it did all else. Even the fur she wore seemed to singe ever so slightly as the fibers looked dryer and brittle like damaged hair. Her gaze swept across their audience, cowards the lot of them.
"Move aside. Send for your healer, have them expect us."

"Having blood of liquid fire seems awfully uncomfortable," mumbled Perkins, wincing as her blood burned his skin. "Doesn't it hurt? Y'know, inside your body? I feel like I wouldn't like it very much if my blood was that hot. I guess it's a good thing, though. Your ancestors are awfully nice. All my grandpa ever did for me was teach me how to dodge flying wine bottles. I guess it's a good thing to know, but it didn't really help us here. Did you really do all that just by dancing? I've never seen anything like that before."
Now that they were out of the darkness and away from immediate danger, Perkins seemed to have calmed down somewhat. His fear gave way to nervous chattering, the words tumbling from his mouth like potatoes from a punctured sack. The fact that his inane chatter contained about as much insight as potatoes didn't seem to register in his mind, but he had at least stopped screaming. Of course, when Rain mentioned the fact that he had a worm in his eye, the panic returned. His eyes grew wide with shock, the worm swirling visibly in his pupil.
"A...a worm in my eye?" he asked, his voice shaking. "What do you mean, a worm? I thought I was just seeing spots! No, not in my eye! Anything but that! Please, isn't there anything you can do? I can't go to the sick bay, I can't! Not that surgeon again, he'll cut my eye out and I'll have to wear an eye patch. Please, anything but that!"
The other sailors were more than happy to leave, most of them grumbling about worms and cursed bilgewater. They scurried off to go notify the surgeon that he was about to have a repeat patient, leaving Rain and Perkins alone. Perkins grabbed her, clutching her arms tightly as his face twisted with panic.
"Please," he begged, "isn't there anythign you can do to help me? I just lost a leg, I don't want to lose an eye as well. You have to help me!"

Rain shook her head as Perkins asked if she was in any pain. "The Ancestors will not let me come to harm like such. Think of it as my blood serving as a conduit to enact their will. The most pain I am in is from those worm bites, but alas, who wouldn't be hurting in that situation?" dodging wine bottles was a... strange skill to hone in his youth. Could be a great way to improve a child's footwork, but broken glass would be too dangerous for a child. She'd never encountered such a method. "Dance is only a part of the ritual. I will explain it to you when you are well and wormless-"
His panic gave the blood dancer pause. He feared his healer at a level that was disconcerting. Healers in her tribe were well respected. She never had the hand for it herself as she was a hunter, but a friend had a better grasp of those particular rituals. If only she'd washed up with her. "Perkins, please understand, there is only so much in my abilities and this is beyond me-" She tried to calm him down and reassure him. The desperation he showed as he gripped her arm, well... She couldn't in good conscience leave him alone as is. White and red paint streamed down her face from when she'd fallen in the water, some that wiped away as she rubbed her forearm against her forehead. Her brows creased as she tried thinking of a compromise or solution. "Listen, Why don't I go with you? I will see to it they don't harm you more than what is necessary, and if all else, we can try and find another solution together. Perhaps there is someone else on this island."

Perkins hyperventilated, eyes wide and unseeing in his panic. The thought of having to go to the ship's infirmary seemed to frighten the poor man out of his very senses, and it took several moments before Rain's soothing words managed to calm him down again. He slumped down against the corridor wall, trembling uncontrollably as his breathing slowed to a more normal rate. His face had turned a sickly shade of white, bearing an unsettling resemblance to the dying worms that squirmed and thrashed on the deck at their feet.
"T-the island," he said, voice shaking as he tried to meet Rain's gaze. "That's right. The shore. The surgeon can't get me if I'm on the shore. Let's go there. I don't care if I starve, I've got to get off this ship. We have to go, get away from here. I can't go to the sick bay here, we've got to go ashore. Maybe we can get on one of the jolly-boats as they head to the camp. Come on, Rain. We have to leave. I can feel it in my eye. Oh heavens, I can feel it! I can see it moving!"
His breathing picked up again as the fear took hold once more, but he managed to struggle to his feet and stumble down the hallway. The few remaining sailors moved out of his way like he bore some horrible plague, trying not to make eye contact.

The poor man was scared out of his wits, considering the worm in his eye she couldn't necessarily blame him. The poor lad seemed to have gotten quite the string of unfortunate events. When he brought up going to shore, she nodded. It was a good compromise, and honestly, she had heard that shore also had some healers available, surely one wouldn't give Perkins a heart attack.
"Sure, sure. Let's get you to shore and to the hells with this place, at least for now." the woman agreed. Maybe once he was feeling better and had more clarity in his mind he'd be inclined to come back here, but in all honesty she hoped he wouldn't. Not necessarily because she feared he wouldn't survive but rather because something else didn't sit well with her here. The people. How readily they'd turned their backs on him. Never in her years had she'd witnessed such disregard for a brother. Back home, even their worst sinners were sent away with broken hearts, but here? Not even pity. It wouldn't show, but her heart broke for him how little they seemed to care even now that they needed each other now more than ever.
Seeing how unsteady he was on his feet, Rain supported him by his arm as she walked with him. "Easy now." she said and away they went.
