Within Sevintera sits a large bonfire where many gather for meals, storytelling, and dancing. These days, it is quieter, less jovial. Some have created crude stools to sit on, while others have drawn large logs and positioned them around. The fire is surrounded by a metal spit. No one can give answers as to where it comes from, but it appears to of been loaned from the cannibalized ship.

Huey did not break his stride even as the Faceless paused to speak to the guards. Granted, he was not very fast and his strides were short, as even for an eight-year-old he was quite small. The Faceless would have no trouble keeping up with him.
When they came to the bonfire, Huey glanced at the strange visitors and then back at the seating arrangements. It took but a moment to think before he said "You may find comfortable resting positions at your leisure." The child took up a small stool, himself, and placed his hands on his lap.
"The circumstances of your arrival are bizarre. Is this within your understanding?"

Age: 80+
Appearance: Around 9ft tall with a body visually composed of a red marbled fleshy substance and hard bony plates, three legs terminating in roughly spherical nubs, a tall spire of meat where a head is located on a human, near the top of this spire is a vaguely humanoid mask devoid of most facial features. At the top of the spire are eight fully functional fingers. No visible eyes, ears, nose or mouth.
Equipment: A 10ft pole comprised of tough wood with homunculus carapace on both ends
Skills and Abilities: Due to their alien biology their internal antenna allows them to perceive the world based entirely on waves, airwaves for shape and sound and lightwaves for colour as well as other wavelengths but I doubt anyone's going be using radios or microwaves, another trait shared by all faceless is their ability to learn voraciously, they are capable of learning by observation, mimicking activities, reading, hearing and eating things, furthermore they are capable of growing new body parts to solve problems though this needs time to analyse the problem, gather and consume organic material and then grow the part the process can take up to days depending on the size and complexity of the part. Their carapace plating is completely disposable and can be safely removed if damaged to a point where it is no longer useful. Faceless also struggle to feel pain which helps when they remove parts of themselves to upgrade or replace thus is due to their decentralised nervous system. Furthermore the faceless can safely eat and digest any organic matter even if it's horribly rotten as they are naturally immune to infections due to their tendency to simply devour whatever's infecting them. Crown of Fingers can expel a stream stream of corrosive acids a short distance and can of course grip things with it's decorative crown.
Biography: A former Slave unsure of it's place in the universe, Crown of Fingers is one of many faceless that was lost by in the mist, they acted as a general construction overseer before the mist however they lack any sense of aesthetics as they used to simply instruct others to instructions. At the time of the flood they and other faceless were in transit to a separate colony.

None of the faceless sat, the largest one around nine feet in height and coated in metallic scaly hide watched the fire, lowering itself in case the fire attacked strung tight like a ballista.
"Bad weather, fog cleared things in head. Ship landed on island two five hundreds loaded aboard...only small more than one hundreds left." Crown of Fingers seemed somewhat melancholy recalling the circumstances of it's arrival, the memories of the quicksilver lash of the old masters was still distressingly clear in it's mind.
"Who you small Trueborn?" Asked Crown of Fingers eager to drown the memories of home with conversation. It's voice was quiet, distant whip cracking and hazy barks of unintelligible shouting could be faintly heard in it's grinding speech.

Huey's expression did not change the entire time, even as Crown of Fingers told its story. It was a mess of one, and what happened to the creature and its posse wasn't entirely clear, but the child could gather that some revelation came over them in the mist and quite a few of them died. Tragedy.
When asked a question, the thrall replied, "Huey Correa. I also landed here on a ship with my family and discovered this settlement not soon after. It has been lovely." Even though his face didn't reflect the sentiment.
"Why do you come here? You do not appear hostile and bear gifts. Your grasp of the common language is lacking. It is clear that you do not understand the effect you have on people, given your visage."

"We bring fear to Trueborn, this We know. Faceless not right anywhere. Knew that people would fear, brings gifts to eat the fear and grow warm goodness. We come to see-vein-terra to find people, want peace, want to mend past." Crown of Fingers tone was difficult to pick out through that harsh stone chipped voice, though perhaps the best descriptor would be tired.
"You remind of Trueborn Kua." Crown of Fingers remarked. "You not like Trueborn with weapons, strange and fearless. Not know what faceless is. Ask you, why you here?"

"Good," Huey remarked in regards to Crown of Fingers' first comment. Good that they were aware, good that they came in peace. Good that he didn't have to do more than talk. This way, they would not stir up trouble for Mother. It was difficult to discern Huey's own tone, as it was as flat and passively scalding as one could be.
"I do not normally carry weapons. I do not need them," he answered. "If you ask why I am here in this encampment, then it is because my family is here. If you ask why I am here speaking to you, it is because I am skilled at making negotiations without inciting violence. These people do not yet have proper leadership, and that will soon be remedied. You promote peace and it appears you have food. The people of Sevintera could use that." He paused to think, then said "Who is Kua, and why do you call us the Trueborn?"

"Kua is a friend, ocean lost like us. She is trueborn, yet she did not fear or hate us. Faceless have lived as fear and tools little Trueborn. Kua is first to see us as more, as equal." Crown of Fingers adopted a cheerful tone, remembering the friendly elf. "Turns pages say she is hero. I agree."
"We call you Trueborn because that is your birth. From life. Faceless can come from faceless but first of us were made by old masters, old knowledge best drowned, first of us did not come from life, came from dark urns. Born silent, born strong and born obedient. Not like trueborn." Discussing the old masters almost seemed to hurt the homunculus as it leaned on it's staff for support.

Ah, so these people were either golems or something like it. This information was good to know. It took a lot of guessing out of the game, which perfectly suited the boy. He lifted his foot and placed it upon his knee, gazing at one faceless, then the next.
"Do remind me of your names. I'm not quite sure I caught that in the conversation before I arrived." It was clear they had them, as they were referring to more figures than just this Kua person. "And where is this Kua you speak of?"

"I Crown of Fingers." The overseer began. "This Turns Pages." They said gesturing to the corpulent three eyed one. "Cannot Heal this." Directed towards the large metallic one. "Moves Stone this one." Crown of Fingers gestured to a large six limbed one with a pair of gigantic forearms. "That Scavenger of Flesh" the tripod pointed at a hunched one with spindly insectoid limbs with what appeared to be a back of quills and a distended gut. "Ploughs Fields is diligent worker." Crown of Fingers mentioned with high regard to one with a barbed singular tusk and a heavy quadrupedal frame with two folded arms. "And Herds Cattle has very gentle hand." Finished the three legged creature referring to the remaining faceless, a thin built creature with those bony masks lining it's neck, the shoulders of it terminated in bulb like red growths.
"As for Kua Trueborn, I not sure, likely moving with Travels Far, explore land like us." Crown of Fingers said with what could have been interpreted as a sort of laugh.

As the first faceless- what Huey presumed was their leader- introduced them, he dedicated them all to memory in a near-instant. Mother always stressed how important it was to remember names, especially of important folk. While the faceless were no nobles, they certainly stood out. He was certain they were important enough to remember until Maribel dictated otherwise.
"So your group is split up," Huey pointed out. "Quite interesting. Do you require lodgings? Many have become available, however-" He raised a brow, looking them over. "I do not believe any of them will suit your stature." With another brief pause to think, the child came up with a few questions. "I also presume your names have quite a lot to do with your trades. The crown of fingers is synonymous with a leadership position. Am I wrong?"

"You are" Crown of Fingers bluntly corrected "I not leader, I guide, oversee. Not command."
"We not shelter, faceless are stronger, but I want know, little Trueborn, where your leader?" Crown of Fingers' neck bent down like a snake as it asked Huey without consideration for things such as personal space.

"To lead is not always to command," the child commented. A guide and an overseer. Huey wondered why the distinction was so important. Perhaps it had something to do with their status of being "cleared in the head." He could not be sure, not completely. Not yet. "I have a Mother," he began, shifting in his seat, "And her name is Lady Maribel Correa. Currently, she is busy with other guests, so she asked me to see you. I am apt at making decisions in her place."
As usual, his expressions were almost imperceptible, but for those who looked closely, his face hardened.

Herds Cattle made a few incomprehensible vocalisations, it's voice sounded wet, foul and dreary, like people walking through mud during a storm, near imperceptible groans could be heard in it's words if only barely.
"Herds Cattle says your face familiar, remind them of old work, old life. They say you not use face like other Trueborn. I ask why do you have face if not use it?" Crown of Fingers asked the child, translating for it's less linguistically gifted kin. Herds Cattle themselves continued to stand tall and stoic.

This did cause Huey to raise a brow gently. He leaned back, thinking about the answer before he finally said, "I am very calm. My mother is close, and it gives me great comfort. Perhaps one will find me smiling when I am near her, but you don't need to know or witness such things, now do you?"
In the distance, right at the edge of the woods that separated the encampment from the coterie, he could see Vasco and his two... friends return from their meeting with Maribel. There was a heated exchange between them, which briefly took his attention.
"If you wish to see Mother, I do believe she may be free."

Crown of Fingers seemed content by this information, though it was hard to gauge the emotions of something without facial expressions and an alien body shape. Though it didn't seem particularly incensed by Huey's response.
"We curious little Huey Trueborn, we hunger for many. Knowledge, sights these foods, like meat and bark. We will sate hunger."
Crown of Fingers turned to their kin and spoke. "Scavenger of Flesh, Herds Cattle, come and we will see mother Trueborn. Cannot Heal, visit town Moves Stone and Ploughs Fields will keep safe."
With that the tripod turned back to Huey. "Would you point in direction of mother Trueborn?"
