"You'd have mastered them quickly. In that world you would have made a fantastic architect, or foreman, or runescribe or... honestly there were a whole host of things you could have done."
Jun gave herself a queer look. At some point an invisible line had been crossed where she started to think of it as that world instead of her world.
To the solicitor's sign comment she shrugged with a slightly annoyed look. "Well, that's your prerogative I suppose, but, I mean, I think it'd be a nice gesture to get to know the Usqueans. They certainly would like to get to know the runescribe genius whose not only extended the lifespan of everyone on the island but also aided their queen with her birth. You're kind of a local celebrity. That comes with a certain amount of responsibility, you know?"
She put her hands on her hips. "Why do you think they agreed to bring your ship closer to the village in the first place? It's because you're their friend now, Mr. Kesterven."
She looked up at Mr. Frog with an playful grin. He was easily her strongest familiar, though also the most difficult to control. Although it cost her a few bruises, Jun had tamed him enough to ensure he would at least stay out of trouble.
"I can think of at least four ways he could have done it but, I wouldn't think about it too much."
Jun snapped her fingers. "Oh! I thought I told you about them. That's the fancier name for the Azarana people. They're a society of do-gooder nomads who survived the floodwaters and have been going around trying to help other survivors with their knowledge. They have a doctor and researcher named Flora living here. You'll recognize her by her antlers." Jun placed her fingers on her head to simulate said antlers.
"Oooh, there are some rocky caves near the mountains we can check out. We might need to bring some help to deal with potential monsters. I have a lot of ideas for combat magic I'd like to try out but maybe I should stick with the more reliable stuff." She gave Mr. Frog a mistrustful side glance.
"Some of the Usquean scouts have reported that... we were really lucky to land on Trinity Island when this whole thing began. The surrounding lands are apparently harsh desert and rocky terrain. Definitely not a fun place to live, but, probably a good place to scout for metal ores if you feel like going farther out."
