The Tueima
Harmonious and resourceful, the l'eina make their home inside the deep blues of a southwestern islet. There, they discovered the runes of an ancient, long-gone civilization half-sunken into the water, and claimed it as their own.
The tribe of I’eina that have landed call themselves the “Tueima.” Only a few know the word in common speech, for in their language it translates to “Spirits of Water.” All can breathe in water, but only a select few have lungs that allow them a limited time above ground.
Be it a gift from the gods, their inherently magical nature, or an incredible strike of chance, the Tueima find themselves to be incredibly unique from one individual to the next. Though all are viable to reproduce, they’re considerably more different than a donkey and a horse; some have tails, some have legs, some are swift as lightning, while others are hardly mobile. There are those with venom, those with spikes, and a few who can camouflage at will. Either despite, or due to their differences, the Tueima has a place for every member of their tribe and are always seeking to help and develop relations where they can. Sometimes, their friendly nature comes as a detriment to them, but once smarted, twice wizened; these people are not stupid and will wage hell wherever the oceans touch should anyone test their kindness.Very few of the Tueima can mimic human speech. The majority of their language is communicated in clicks, songs, and gestures, none of it using mouthed words or a tangible voicebox. Their previous leader, a missing man by the name of Legend, worked with the humans in their realm to help them develop a few words in common to help them communicate. This is where the word “Tueima'' was developed. Legend’s son, Paragon, now holds the scroll that contains the limited dictionary to bridge words. Until he is of age and has proven himself, the ancient sea elf known as Patriarch has taken the helm.
