Appearance: Like most Correas, Alvaro boasts sharp features and long, wavy, flaxen hair. Though he has a strapping figure, it's easily hidden behind layered blouses, doublets, and embroidered capes. Alvar trims and oils his beard often, keeping a well-groomed appearance where he can. Just below a pair of long lashes, he has a couple of blue eyes that fade to black.

Equipment: Alvaro is a political man and prefers not to fight if ever he has the chance to avoid it, but he knows his way around a few bladed weapons. This time, however, he has found himself with a singular dagger.
_________________________________________________________
Skills and Abilities: The baron's vampiric curse can allow him to change his form into several distinct shapes: a shaggy black dog, a vulture, and a centipede no smaller than his human form.
Alvaro's senses and natural strength are heightened considerably at night and gutter just as significantly during the day. He has excellent night vision that causes him to be blinded entirely in the presence of the sun. If in direct contact with sunlight, he burns.
The Correa family's shared ability is to create loyal thralls without having to sire them into vampires. Thralls are made with a bite that doesn't kill the victim; instead, using the blood that pours from it, they create a sigil that binds them to the vampire. Thralls share a portion of the vampire's strength and can still walk freely in the sun, though with a newfound disdain for it.

"To my dismay, such things do not sustain me. Cool water on a hot day does not refresh me, nor does the sweetness of fruit during a celebration. Ah! But a well-infused wine can do the trick. Otherwise, it is raw meats and the blood that runs through it." Alvaro laughed, and it was bitter. "I do miss the pleasantries of food and drink, but the tradeoff was worth every plate and gauntlet of days past." Or so he told himself.
Feeling the beast stir again, he looked away from Eliza, into the darkness of the wood. "Well, perhaps it shouldn't take long at all. Apologies, my Lady- perhaps yous should avert your eyes."
As he rose from the ground, he took hold of his heavy, wet coat and peeled it from his arms, dropping it onto the stiff sands below. He did the same with his blouse, and just before he vanished into the foliage, the buckle to his pants jangled. In the dim silhouette of the woods, the head of a great, hairy creature rose up from the thicket and pointed its toothy snout to the sky. It was as large as a horse, covered in black, wiry fur with a gaunt figure. The shape wasn't too different from a wolfhound... except for the jagged teeth.
It galloped its way into the woods, where all fell quiet.

Eliza made no motion whatsoever to avert her eyes as the man began to strip unceremoniously in front of her. In fact, she paid even closer attention, resting her cheek on her finger as she observed Alvaro with rapt attention. What a curious fellow, she thought, observing such strange rituals for the purpose of - of... um.
What the fuck was she looking at?
"Oh. Oh!" Eliza's face perked up as she watched Alvaro's transformation with growing interest. Her expression cycled from shock, to confusion, to fascination, all in a very short span of time. "Not a metaphor, then. I see. Hm."
Eliza watched as the creature disappeared into the woods, leaving her alone with the soft light of the fire once again. The sorceress tilted her head, lost in consideration, having been struck with a wealth of newfound curiosity on the subject of Alvaro and his curse. She absent-mindedly plucked a piece of dried meat from her pack of rations, tore off a sizable bite with her teeth, and stared off quietly into the woods.
"I am absolutely going to fuck this man."

Every time this happened, Alvaro felt like he was in a box. Though he was sure the beast took his flesh and twisted it to create its ghastly visage, it gave him a crick in the neck as though he'd been stuffed in a tiny little space where he couldn't breathe. There was a story of a prized wooden horse somewhere, long ago, that held soldiers within to bypass a citadel's great walls. With a grunt, Alvaro realized this was similar, but the other way around; it was everything on the outside they had to worry about.
As they stampeded through the forest, the cursed noble saw himself looking through a pair of eyeholes, as though he were peering through a mask. Before them, a herd of horselike creatures with silver-blue scales and a singular antler on its forehead pranced away to no avail. As they drew near, one of them tried to gut the beast with its antler, finding little purchase through the shadowy ooze that made them what they were. Rearing its head, the beast howled in a way that was between a scream and a laugh. Its tangle of fangs bore down and caught the equine, ripping its flesh asunder and making it into minced meat. It lifted it high, high into the air, turning the body upside down, and gulped once. In that instant, every drop of blood that filled the prey's veins was drained and devoured.
"You really are a piece of work," mumbled Alvaro, folding his arms. Metaphorically or physically, he did not know, but he was deeply unsettled. Even after thirty years of living like this, seeing it over and over again... when would he lose his mind, as Maribel had? To the point where it wouldn't bother him any longer?
Now that the beast was quiet, the dog's eyes became his eyes once more. He trotted through the forest and followed the path of broken branches and flattened grasses they left in his wake. It was only when he could see the light of the fire did the body of the Dip fall away and became that of a man once more, form no longer gaunt and skin ruddy from his feast. He pulled on his trousers before showing himself.
"... my deepest apologies," he grumbled. "You now have Alvaro Correa at your service, not some wild dog. You won't discuss that little outburst with anyone else, I hope." He flashed a smile, and above them, blue eyes shone, where before they'd been a pitch black. "I need to keep up appearances."

Eliza's time during Alvaro's hunt was uneventful. She very much wished she had brought a book, or even better - wine. Instead, Eliza found that she had resorted to observing patterns of stars, cataloguing a few new plant species, that kind of thing. Eliza groaned - she was turning into her brother. Ah, well - she supposed that next time, she would know better than to take a remarkably mundane walk into the nearby woods without a month's worth of provisions. An entirely reasonable train of thought. That's what this island was. Reasonable. Eliza scoffed.
At the man's return, Eliza's eyes unabashedly glinted upward to view Alvaro's as-of-yet unclothed chest. She bit her lip playfully, making no effort to give him any privacy.
"What outburst are you referring to, dear? Did you get lost trying to find a nice tree in the woods to piss on?" Eliza winked coyly at Alvaro's request for her discretion. "Don't give it a second thought. We socialites have a responsibility to look out for each other, do we not?"
No, we certainly don't, Eliza thought to herself, answering her own question. She would file this tidbit away in the folder of her brain simply labeled, 'Dirt.'
"Glad to see some color in your cheeks. I thought you might blow away in the wind if you kept on like you had for much longer." She rose from the fire, stretching her arms and legs while puffing out her chest. "What happens now, new friend?"

Alvaro could do nothing but smirk at her comment. She wanted to reassure him that she would keep his secret, did she? Not that he could trust her so easily. Eliza called them socialites, but an alternate name for them was "strategic backstabbers." Taking up his shirt, her asked, "Is it that apparent? How embarrassing. I enjoy being relieved of my hunger but looking like a blushing village girl is not my preference." The vampire rubbed his cheek. As he did so, he smeared a sliver of red that was hidden in the very corner of his lip. For the second time, he sighed.
It was once Alvaro bent down to pick up his coat did he pause to stare at Eliza. Her posture changed, and while such a thing seemed insignificant to most, it lit a candle in his mind, a tiny, suspicious, yet demure flame.
"... that depends," he murmured. His coat was thrown over his shoulder but not fitted over his arms. "We may leave if you so desire. I can understand that the weather may not yet be appropriate for travel, Lady Winterlight. How do you propose we fill the hours?"

It was true that even with Alvaro's supposed senses to guide their way, the weather remained ill-fit for travel. This kind of rain was enough to throw off the scent of any dog, present company included. And, as she had so articulately noted not long ago... Eliza was bored. She was in no rush to return to her very busy schedule of cataloguing different species of moss - Especially with such an enticing alternative standing but six feet away, half clothed and speckled with viscera.
Normally, she wouldn't have even considered the implication - not in their present circumstances, at least. They were exposed, vulnerable, and alone, not to mention miles away from Eliza's favorite... supplements. But that was the new normal, was it not? They were pioneers in this untamed place, and it was their lot to bend these wilds into something they could one day call home. And Eliza could think of no better way to break in a new home than what was about to happen next.
The woman approached Alvaro leisurely, teasing him with the slowness of her pace, the lilt of her walk. She reached a hand out as if to cradle his cheek in her palm, but instead extended only her thumb, wiping away the blood smearing the corner of the vampire's mouth. She stared at the bead of crimson with parted lips, locked eyes with Alvaro, and took her thumb into her own mouth to taste for herself. Eliza felt the flavor of rust and carnage dance across her tongue.
Never breaking eye contact, Eliza slowly pulled the finger from her mouth, emerging with a soft pop. The sorceress placed her hand on Alvaro's half-covered torso and, smiling wickedly, shoved him to the ground below.
"Oh... I can think of a few ideas."

With the pop of her finger through her lips, Alvaro's eyes snapped open. His shocked expression remained even as she pushed him to the sand, laying him flat on his back. He didn't touch her- not yet. His hands hovered at the sides of her thighs. The vampire opened his mouth once, closed it, came to a thought, and finally spoke up:
"... so sorry. Your company isn't quite my speed. Perhaps you could introduce me to your brother?"
He waited a long moment, searching her expression. When at last he watched it change, his head bent backward in a wicked laugh. His hands fastened onto her hips and pulled her down. A claw slipped around the button to her fancy breeches, pulling it free with ease. "You aren't the only one who gets to tease, love."
The pressure of his claws left indents in her skin, but he was gentle, made sure never to pierce it. Gods knew if he could control himself if he drew blood now, but this woman was no pushover. He took her fingers and pressed them against his lips, kissing them down to her wrist. "Mind if I have a bite?"

Eliza didn't have a single coherent idea of how to articulate the complete disorientation that was actively wreaking havoc on her mindscape. She had been thrown off her rhythm, knocked cleanly off her feet with eight words of pure, concentrated bafflement.
She was seconds away from launching into a fit of maniacal cackling, plagued with images of Alvaro trying to seduce her brother - HER brother. Julius fucking Winterlight, beset upon by the wiles of a vampiric twink with mommy issues and fleas. If Alvaro hadn't interrupted her spiraling, Eliza would have dropped everything then and there to orchestrate the whole disaster, down to the letter. The manic delight she felt at even the thought of watching such a perfect catastrophe unfold - it was almost better than sex.
...Almost.
Eliza ran her hand up the length of Alvaro's chest, nails sinking into the skin of his collarbone as she descended onto him. Her shoulders arched, a low whimper escaping her mouth as her hips crested atop his own, falling into those familiar rhythms she knew all too well. How long had it been? She had her selection of playthings on the voyage here, of course, but it simply wasn't the same. It lacked the passion, the electricity that always accompanied the act of meeting a beautiful stranger and wanting to make them your own, to make them break at your touch. Eliza's hand clasped his own, willing his claws to cut deeper into her flesh, while smiling coyly at his request.
"Only if I get to bite back."

Eliza's response prompted such a strong response in Alvaro that it surprised him. He'd eaten mere minutes before, but here the Beast was, drawing a low growl from deep within his chest. His hands reached up to grab her hips, drawing her down with him. He responded, face buried in her skin:
"... get on with it, then."
The night was long, and even when the sun peaked over the horizon, the rainclouds refused to part. Alvaro felt his skin tingle for more than enough reasons, but knowing that one of them was due to his eternal curse had him retreating to the trees, drawing up his hood, before Eliza could do or say anything to the contrary. It was hardly a thought that drove him there, more of a reflex, something engrained into him by powers beyond his control.
"I'd offer to pay for a new set of clothes. Not sure that's an option anymore, though," he quipped, smirking from the shade. "You've stayed alive this long, but we might need something for those bites. Do you want me to carry you, little damsel, all the way back to camp?"
It was clear their escapade boosted his confidence far beyond where it was when they first met. His posture was forward, his chin lifted, hands on his hips. Even with his ripped clothing and his hair loose along his shoulders, he appeared...
Proud.

Eliza's eyes fluttered open as the feeling of Alvaro's body at her side evaporated, lips pouting with disappointment.
"Mmm... five more minutes..." she muttered unintelligibly, those last lingering traces of euphoria and satisfaction still dwelling deep within. In her half-conscious state, Eliza traced her lips, feeling the bruises and punctures made by Alvaro's fangs. She shivered, not being able stop herself from smirking, and the pain that accompanied the expression only made the whole ordeal that much sweeter. Eventually she shifted, sitting up halfway and glancing over towards her consort as he chided her from a distance.
"Damsel? Me?" She moaned with some effort, pressing her hand against an Alvaro-shaped gash in her thigh. Eliza discovered that her whole body was sore, delightfully so. "Speak for yourself, dear - If I recall, you made your fair share of noises that would make any brave knight drop what they were doing and come running."
Eliza herself had made sure of that. She had always found small doses of lightning to be quite the aphrodisiac.
The sorceress willed her magic into her hand, then into the laceration on her hip. Red energy flooded the wound, and Eliza felt her torn skin begin to slowly and painfully knit itself back together. She repressed a grunt as the crimson rite exerted its toll on her, but before long it was done. That particular scrape seemed to be the worst of the menagerie - she could patch up the rest of her flesh once she had returned to Godslost Hollow... along with her clothes. After all, what self-respecting Sorcerer Queen wouldn't think bring a few Magistrate Tailors to such a strange and dangerous locale?
"Helpless and vulnerable as I am, I think I can manage the trip home," Eliza scoffed playfully. The woman was happy to see Alvaro so... poised. She had done her job well, it had seemed - and a contented man was much pliable than a distressed one.

Alvaro watched as Eliza stitched up the gash as though it were cloth. He stroked his beard, lips clamped shut, eyebrows raised. That lightning of hers had quite a few uses. Perhaps that was just the shape her magic took? He wouldn't say it out loud, but it was no lie that she was quite electrifying. Even her comments after the fact had quite the burn to them. It made him laugh.
There was a lot he could say to combat her words. He put a hand to his chest in a show of dramatics. "My Lady, you wound me, though it is a trifle compared to what you did last night." He stifled a smirk beneath his fist, then added "But do let me know before you bleed out, darling. Don't want any of that to go to waste." He wagged his brows.
"As much as I like staying out here in the gloom, I would like to move on. The hills here are tall. Would your family have started a fire by now?"

Eliza stood, taking a moment to steady herself from the pain of her wounds... among other sensations. She approached, strapping on her belt and following Alvaro's gaze towards the horizon.
"They should have. Unless, of course, everything has already managed to fall apart in my notable absence." This was laughable, of course. Her being absent only meant that Julius would be working the Estate twice as hard. And Julius was most certainly at the camp, and not on some long-winded expedition to collect his wayward pupil.
She motioned towards one of the taller nearby hills, collecting her smattering of supplies and leading her vampire up to its grassy peak. It didn't take long to see the smoke rising into the air due west. Though it was true that Eliza had no earthly idea where the island had deigned to deposit her, she was hopeful that the soft trail of gray against the morning sky would lead her back home.
"There. That would be our bearing." Eliza surveyed the landscape, growing more confident at the sight of the nearby mountains. "Those peaks look familiar. Our outpost is built in the shadow of such a formation."
And finally, her gaze landed on... what was that, to the north of the isthmus? Was that a ship? She looked at vessel, then to Alvaro, then back to the vessel, dots slowly connecting in her mind's eye.
...
"Alvaro. Honey. That pretty little thing doesn't happen to be yours, now does it?"

Age: 67
Appearance: Like most Correas, Alvaro boasts sharp features and long, wavy, flaxen hair. Though he has a strapping figure, it's easily hidden behind layered blouses, doublets, and embroidered capes. Alvar trims and oils his beard often, keeping a well-groomed appearance where he can. Just below a pair of long lashes, he has a couple of blue eyes that fade to black.
________________________________________________________

Alvaro crossed his arms as he looked out into the distance. That smoke was far, at least one day out if not more. They had a lot of walking ahead of them. "How did you manage to get all the way out here on your own?" he asked curiously, scratching his beard. This would have been much easier at night. He could have transformed and she could just ride on his back. That wasn't an option now in the light of day. This brought up a small joke in his mind, one that he didn't bring up, but it gave him a silent chuckle.
When Eliza mentioned the boat, he glanced over with a pop of his brows. "Ah! Yes. The ship. Ah, my ship. The Desmodus. I'd have said something, but it really doesn't look like-" He gestured wildly to the west, where the foothills became mountains up and around the coast. "Not anywhere to dock a ship. She'll follow, though. I'm sure she'll find a way. She's quite intuitive, you know." And then, under his breath, he said, "Might be a little pissed at me though. Mm."

She is learned in many studies typical of Komali nobility, and is highly intelligent, despite her frivolous nature.

Eliza couldn't shake the unique sensation that she had just been the subject of a vampire's infidelity towards a boat. At this point, the sorceress was beginning to form an association between Alvaro's voice and the world 'bewilderment'.
"Look - there's a lot to unpack in regards to the inane words that just exited your mouth, but in the interest of time, let's just throw out the whole suitcase." Eliza turned to face Alvaro, shaking her head with a special kind of tired acceptance. "In truth, I have no idea how I got here. One second I was charting the woods outside my camp, and the next - poof! Spirited away to the island's forested taint. I expect some magic to be in play within the borders of the forest, but that hardly helps us presently."
"There doesn't appear to be any way to mirror the traversal, at least as far as I'm aware. I've looked for a similar gateway in the surrounding woods, to no avail. So, your girlfriend notwithstanding," Eliza chided with a gesture towards the Desmodus, "It seems we have little option but to travel by foot."

Alvaro visibly gagged at the suggestion that he was courting the Desmodus. "Gods above, Eliza. She's twelve! She's more like a... possessive niece." He scratched his beard, thinking about the exact relationship he had with a ship. He immediately decided not to think about it too hard.
"Are you sure you're going to be alright?" Even with her fancy magic, she did lose a generous amount of blood the night before. She was looking a little pale, but she held herself well. Very few nobles would have been able to do the same. He laughed inwardly as he thought about the amount of screeching and fussing another highborn would have made in the exact situation, assuming they would have made it this far. Keeling over and dying would have been just as likely as soon as they exited their cushy encampment.
But not Lady Eliza. Curious.
"It will be a long journey. We'll need to start."
