Price Guidelines, Compensation, and ConversionsAll laborers in the Twin Cities make 2 valars a day, or higher, depending on the job itself (the easiest job pays the minimum, 2 valars a day). The Twin Cities Flour Mill sells 100 grams of flour for 1 valar. 100 grams of flour is enough to make bread to feed one person per day. At the max population of 27,000 the granaries could generate 27,000 valars a day, 810,000 valars a month, and 9,720,000 valars a year.
100 grams of flour = 1 Valar

Regarding Ralf's Credit System and his Council of AppraisersThis document attempts to explain Ralf's credit system and establish his Council of Appraisers.
The Communal Stockpiles: When the first settlers arrived and settled in the Twins they were quickly organized by two men: Ralf Valgard and Vidkun Wewelsburg. The settlers were separated into different groups who focused on gathering food, building materials, and other supplies. To ensure everyone received sufficient food, water, warmth, shelter, etc, Ralf ordered all materials be stored in communal stockpiles. Ralf could distribute the supplies more easily, more fairly, and more efficiently this way. This ensured everyone in the Twins had equal access to necessities. These stockpiles were well-guarded by Varan warriors and organized by Vessian officials. Any settler could contribute to these stockpiles by bringing firewoodwood, cloth, berries, furs, etc and trade it with the officials for something else they needed. The Silver Mine and Valars: As the settlement began to grow so to did Ralf's idea about the communal stockpiles. While many settlers still contributed and took from them, a form of bartering began to take place among the settlers. A hunter might trade some meat and fur to someone who traded him firewood, for example. Ralf decided it was time to introduce a sort of currency. A silver deposit was discovered to the north and Ralf immediately fortified the location and installed guards there. Miners extracted some of the silver and Ralf began to mint coins. These coins are called Valars. One side of a Valar has a wolf-head emblem, a homage to Ralf himself as well as to the Varan. The other side of the Valar has a lighthouse. Ralf kept the location of the silver mine a secret, as well as the minting process, and accumulated as many Valars as he could. Ralf's Credit System: Ralf put an emphasis on controlling important sectors of the Twin Cities' economy, such as food; one way Ralf did this was by controlling the nearby grain fields. This reignited the use of the communal stockpiles, but things would be different this time. Anyone who contributed to the stockpile would be given Valars. The Valar represents a receipt, or credit; essentially, anyone who performs services for the Twins was given Valars, which could then be traded back to officials at the granary (for food) or the stockpiles (for materials). As individuals performed more services for the Twins, they received more Valars, which were then traded among the settlers to pay each other for their services. So the hunter might contribute to the stockpile by giving them a pelt in exchange for Valars; the hunter then gives some Valars to a woodcutter for firewood, who then trades the Valars at the granary for a sack of grain. The Council of Appraisers: Ralf understood that some work was easy, some of it was hard. He knew that some people put in a great deal of effort to support themselves, while others did not. Ralf thus installed a Council of Appraisers who oversee the communal stockpiles, granaries, and Valar bureau. Whenever someone brings something to the Council they will appraise its worth and give you Valars based on the worth of your contribution. The Council also monitors prices throughout the city that the settlers are beginning to place; for example, the Appraisers enforce a law that restricts raising the price of grain. - The bare minimum the Council of Appraisers will give for a contribution is two Valars. If they do not feel the contribution is worth that then it will not be accepted.
- The Council of Appraisers control the granaries in the city. Granaries will trade a bag of grain for one Valar. Each bag contains about 500 grams of grain, which is enough to make one loaf of bread.
- The idea is fairly simple. By performing the most basic job in the Twins you can make two Valars a day. One Valar will buy you enough grain to make a loaf of bread. In other words, it costs one Valar a day to keep you fed.
