Roleplay posts: 67
Age: Somewhere between his mid 30s and mid 40s
Appearance: At first glance, not much about him would stand out to most people. Average height, average weight and build, black hair with a growing goatee, brown eyes, tan colored skin, generally nothing much to draw attention to his own physical form, except for the striking silver and bronze of his left hand, make completely of metal, with blue energy flowing throughout lines in the construction. His clothing is mostly fairly simple as well, with brown pants and a long leather overcoat, under which he wears a gray top. However, on his chest he also wears a brooch made of the same materials as his hand, a large blue gem set in the center.
Equipment: -An assortment of tools for building his magic-powered automatons, known as Magikróm
-5 Variation 1 Magikróm, which are shaped like spheres with a 1.5 foot diameter and eight extendable limbs, with no weaponry. Used only for sorting, transport, and limited help around a house or lab setting. Only two are operational. The other three are functionally scrap metal
-3 Variation 2 Magikróm, of which none are operational. Originally, they were defensive machines with limited movement, having two wheels on their lower half, one spear/horn like appendage, and two magic-energy firing devices on pivots.
-a simple knife.
Skills and Abilities: While he's unable to harness it himself in any meaningful way(except creating his Magikróm), Vailas is highly knowledgeable in the properties and abilities of magic energy and most things tangentially related to it. He is skilled at basic robotics and more or less knows how to work metal into the shapes he needs. Other than that, his only true skill comes from being a well-read individual.
Biography: Hailing from the relatively barren land of Sezæria, survival was often a struggle for Vailas. As such, he had to find a way to make himself useful quick. Having some magical aptitude, as well as quite the intellect, he took to learning the ways of magic. However, he could never learn enough to cast the more complex spells. To get around this, he learned how to impart his magic into robotic entities, to power them. While some thought of this as being genius, many also feared him for it, and one attempted to be rid of him in his sleep. He got away, but he lost his hand in the process, eventually replacing it with the same sort of magical technology he used in his machines. He soon became much more reclusive, after that happened, and rumors around the town said he turned to less morally sound ways of practicing his craft, though it was never specified how bad it got. Near the time of the flood, he had found his way to the shore where he acquired a decent sized vessel, manning it with himself and a number of his machinations, many of which did not survive the voyage once the waters hit.

"Strength in numbers indeed." Vailas affirms. "And in that case, I shall follow as well, just in case. You all lead the way." He gestures for them all to take the lead, before he and his steel soldier follow behind.
Vailas had gotten cold feet about sending 3-2 out without himself there to keep it in line, and with no other real reason to stay in the village, he figured it would make the best sense to accompany as well. On top of this, doing so would give him the chance to watch the goings-on of this trip himself, so that as little as possible got lost between the experience and his automaton's retelling.

"I was just about to ask if you felt well enough for a walk," Líf said, giving Varia a hand, helping her leaving the lean-to, the camp was awfully busy with people coming and going with supplies the gather, it seems they were building something, Freyr and a few others were nowhere to be seen and the children played.
Líf lead Varia to a redheaded man with an angry face, once they approached she said "This is Fengr, he's our blacksmith, he carried you to camp from the boat, Fengr, this is Varia."
Fengr looked Varia up and down, he seemed a bit like the grumpy type, "Another lost soul for us to help huh, you know Líf, our people should come first, what's going to be next ? A ship full of people ?" he said
"Fengr, that's not very polite," Líf firmly said.
"I know." He than said under his breath, loud enough for Varia to hear "I'm glad you are okay lass." His tone went back to normal "If you excuse me a have a furnace to build as we're appearently going to war... Again." He sighed and went back to his work.
"I'm sorry for that, Fengr doesn't trust strangers but his a good guy, please don't hold it against him, we fought for our freedom just before the waters swept our village and now we seem to be fighting the same people, only now they're undead," Líf said before presenting Vaira to the others that were still at camp.

She looked at Fengr with a frown, went to open her mouth to defend herself but then decided against it. She was not in the mood to get into a fight with anybody. Besides, he seemed too busy for this. Her eyes narrowed as he retreated and she pressed her lips together, then she gave a curt nod to Lif.
"I would fight with you if I had the strength to do so. My companions too." The animals had stayed back at her command, so they were both chilling out in the lean to for the time being.

Fengr smiled, his tone became just a bit me friendly this time "First you recover, than if you want we can exchange some punches, I love me a good brawl, no animals or weapons," he said.
Líf punched his arm "What are you doing ? She's still recovering." Fengr held his arm, his eyes rolled, he sighed, "Look, I didn't mean it okay, it won't happen again." He didn't sound excited or happy but he was telling the truth, "My invitation for a brawl still stands."
The old woman sighed, a bunch of materials were being gathered, if anyone would to look up, they would see clouds forming in the direction of the one of the forests around the plains "Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to a child when Fengr, but he's not bad I promise, he's a pretty good fighter, Deadly with a hammer, the second part won't matter if you decide to accept his challenge."
For a second, Líf seemed to reminisce for a second.

It takes some time to finally reach the mainland and Renaux surveyed it with his spyglass looking for somewhere to land. He was surprised that he couldn't spot the telltale signs of a major settlement anywhere along the shore. There were plenty of places that were prime for a port yet the landmass looked almost entirely uninhabited. The only thing he spotted was a few strands of smoke that resolved into a small primitive-looking settlement as he got closer. But beggars could not be choosers to he guides Neige down towards it.
Once he is nearly on top of it he starts their descent slowly spiralling down trying to catch some attention before he lands. If the inhabitants were dangerous he would much rather they try firing arrows at him before he lands rather than after. Assuming no one takes a shot though he would soon land just inside of the village and he would jump from Neige's saddle the moment her hooves touch the ground. The pegasus staggers a bit and only just barely avoids falling to the ground managing to settle herself softly. The extended flight having left her drained.
Rushing to her side he removes her saddle and bridle, the pegasus nuzzling him affectionately as she sucks in big gulps of air. His hands moving softly through her fur as he takes his canteen and starts to slowly pool water in a cupped hand for her to drink. He figures the villagers would make themselves known to him soon enough, for now, she needed some care for all of her hard work in keeping him alive.

First the children came running from the cove talking about a ship approaching, then the weather turning bad and last but not least, a man with a fLying horse, Líf felt overwhelmed for a second than shouted to Fengr "ooi, there's apparently a ship approaching, I think your sarcasm from earlier summoned it, please go talk to them Fengr, and BE NICE !" "You must be... I guess I have no choice," said the redheaded man.
After landing, two woman approached the man and his Pegasus, "Hello mister," Líf said. Líf was a old woman, dressed in priestess clothing, with her was Varia, she was from the Usquean people.
When he looked around, the Knight would be able to see that the people of the settlement behind the old lady with the gentle looking smile, were organising supplies with their weapons out, watching the man, they weren't agressive, just careful.

She was about to open her mouth again to say something, but so much was happening that she was overwhelmed and closed her mouth with a snap. Then she looked toward the overtaxed pegasus and her eyes widened. She hadn't seen one of those in a very long time, as they were almost as rare in the Usque as a white unicorn. She moved to help sooth the animal.

As predicted the villager's approach and Renaux huffs a relieved breath when he can hear them talking in the common tongue. He'd been slightly worried that a place as desolate as this might speak a language he did not know. An old woman and a young one approach and gives them both a considering gaze.
"Greetings, I am Renaux de Travére."
The knight had a pleasing voice, a low baritone lightly coloured with his Gauldish accent but not so much he was hard to understand. Not surprising considering his tutor in the common tongue had been the finest in the entire Gaudlish kingdom.
"My apologies for landing in your village but I somehow got..." Well, lost hardly seemed an accurate term since there was simply no way that the land beneath him could have changed so much from the breath time he was in the cloud. "Waylaid and needed to make an emergency landing. Your settlement was, well, the closest and close to the only one I could see. Can you tell me where we are in relation to Gauldin?"

Líf cleared her throat, "I don't know such place, I doubt it still exists after the flood though," she said, she had a worried look, "Lad, have you not seen the endless waters that fell from the skies ?"
She looked at the Pegasus, it was a beautiful example of a fantastic creature. Líf fetched a fair amount of water and placed in front of the animal.

He turned to the group that came with him, "Bjørn, go rest, Nomi, feel free to do whatever you please and if you need help don't hesitate on calling anyone, maybe not Fengr, he doesn't like strangers too much, Vailas I believe you wanted me to tell me your findings on the Draugar ?"

Vailas saw the strangest sight in front of him. Of all things, a horse with wings! He had seen horses before, although it was quite rare, especially in the deserts and badlands of his home, but never had he seen one with such avian qualities. Vailas stared, only snapped out of his gawking by Freyr's question. He blinks, looking back at Freyr. "That is correct." He says, pulling out his journal and holding onto it. "Unfortunately it was not quite as much as I had hoped to glean from them, but it gave me a basis. For start, there is obviously a spell woven into your people at a very deep level. Essentially, when conditions are met, it bonds magic to your body, so that even once your muscles no longer work, it animates your body for your mind, and keeps you tethered to it rather than moving on from your mortal vessel. However, I am otherwise...unsure, regarding the specifics." He admits. "What all the conditions are and the way the magic is imbued into your people. Despite that, I do have a...hypothesis, that I would need help testing." He says tentatively, reaching into his pocket and pulling out the strange glass tube, copper covering each end. "All I would need is a small sample of blood, from one of your people. Which does not matter, any who wish to volunteer, and I would not need much at all. I understand this may be strange, but testing this hypothesis is the only way I can find a way to possibly detangle this spell from one of you, be you still living or a Draugr already."
Patiently, a tense Vailas awaits a response. He expected a quite poor one at worst, and a highly suspicious one at best, but he was prepared to defend his reasoning for this if need be.

Roleplay posts: 64
Age: 24
Appearance: A young, diminutive human with pale white hair and soft yellow eyes, donning simple robes befitting the life of a nomad. The robe's left sleeve has been ripped off completely, exposing runic tattoos along the length of their arm, and a fresh gash made by the claws of a monster. Though much of the rest of their skin is covered by their robes, the ends of more tattoos can be seen creeping along their neck and wrists.
Equipment: Their possessions are few in number - A gnarled wooden staff, a dagger, a leather pouch containing divining equipment, and the clothes on their back.
Skills and Abilities: Nomi is a Seer of their people before arriving in the Mists, and has limited capabilities in ways of divination. However, these talents are known by them to be unreliable at best - they prefer to rely on their wits in order to get by in the new world.

"Oh, do not worry about me. I have no intention of causing... any..." Nomi's speech faltered, their eyes finally falling upon the mythical steed before them. "I... if you'll excuse me," they chirped, leaving Freyr and Valias behind them to discuss business.
Nomi scampered across the camp to the Pegasus, eyes alight with wonder as they stared dumbfounded at the beast. "Oh, stars, aren't you a sight to behold!" They looked over it with a wide, open-mouthed smile, right alongside any equally bewildered Nord children that happened to be nearby. For all the nonsense this island had put them through, Nomi admitted that it certainly never ran out of ways to surprise them.
Despite their apparent exhilaration, Nomi knew better than to reach out to try to touch it. The seer had been around beasts of burden for most of their life, and they didn't need divination to know what happens to those who find themselves on the wrong end of a startled horse. They looked both to Renaux and Varia, stowing their elation long enough to make proper introductions. They cleared their throat, making an effort to focus.
"Hello, strangers. It is a pleasure to meet you both, I hope." They had to admit, meeting new people on this island was much less scary with a small militia of broad-shouldered Nords in close proximity. "I am called Nomi. Does this creature belong to one of you?"

Varia was too busy admiring the pegasus. When the man talked about Gauldin, her brows shot up. He was from her world! She nearly fainted. "Gauldin is no more, sir," she said softly. The world was lost to the floods. The Usque too." Her eyes were on the man as she spoke.

The answer that Renaux received from those gathered was a bit confusing. Primarily because it appeared as though his arrival coincided with the arrival of another party. Still, the gist of the answer he'd gotten was that he was nowhere close to Gauldin his attention landing on Varia first.
"What do you mean Gauldin is no more? What waters are you talking about?"
There had been nothing like that before he'd found himself in this strange land. Though he was pleased that someone, at least, knew of his homeland. She did not appear to be crazed but her words made no sense to him.
"As for your question, Neige belongs to no one but herself. However, I have the pleasure of serving as her knight, friend, and partner."
It was an insult to her species to suggest that an animal such as a pegasus could be owned. Indeed, even the king did not claim ownership of the royal herd. They were stewards, protecting the avian equines and keeping them safe. There were few things more sacred to the Gauldish than the sky and the steeds that had aided them in voyaging it where revered in their culture.

Freyr thought about it than started laughing "If you want Nord blood you'll have to figh for it, literally, one on one fistfight," he looked at the knight "Give me a moment Vailas, hang around the camp in the meantime if you're up for the challenge."
Freyr threw his axe on his shoulder and approached the Knight "Hello he said, who are you ?"
Líf waited for Renaux's response and told freyr about the ship that apparently landed in the beach almost at the same time as the Knight and the winged horse, and about the Knight's question.
"You haven't seen any rain ? What about the mist ? Our landed flooded, the highest peaks were lefted submerged than it came the mist,"
Light filed the sky as lightning stuck nearby, only a few drops of water here and there. Freyr looked for he didn't found her, he assumed she was still with Baggi and Astrid.
