Aesa the One-Handed
Established
Roleplay posts: 13
Age: Mid-thirties
Appearance: Aesa is a tall, lithe, nordic woman with bright blue eyes and long, flowing blonde hair. She has a calm yet determined demeanor that speaks to her confidence and wisdom.
Equipment: Aesa carries Nifleyðir, or Mistbreaker, a legendary longsword obtained in Niflvellir. It has the appearance of a typical longsword, but the material seems to be stronger than steel and extremely light. A segment on the bottom of the hilt could fit a gemstone or similar item.
Skills and Abilities: Aesa was once Jarl of Valland. The experience forged her into a confident and formidable leader and she excels at leading others. She is also skilled with the sword and shield, a well-known shieldmaiden, and has an understanding of runic knowledge.
Biography: Long ago, in another world, Aesa Jojora was a shieldmaiden from Asgeir. She joined a contingent of Varan warriors destined for Gripclaw Pass. There she fought alongside various allies to delay the advance of Domrius. When the defense of the pass became futile the Varan stayed behind to buy their allies time - except Aesa, who was sent back to Asgeir to tell the story.
During the campaign Aesa fell in love with Volrun Valgard, heir to the throne of Valland. When arrived in Asgeir she discovered she was with child - Volrun's child - and thus carried Valland's heir.
Aesa struggled to convince Valland's clans of her position and status - assuming the role of jarlessa until her son could come of age. She faced great opposition, but overcame the struggles and ruled with determination. Ralf was raised to be a warrior and leader, but many doubted him and called him a bastard and pretender.
When Ralf came of age he traveled the world in search of wealth and glory, hoping to one day return home as a great hero after he had proven his worth. Aesa would rule Valland in Ralf's absence, but kept in touch with her son.
When the rains began to fall and the Mist began to set in Aesa rallied Valland's residents and directed them to the longboats. Those who managed to make it drifted through the Mists for what seemed like an eternity. Finally they arrived in Niflr, a shadowy realm that exists outside of the Mistbourne Isles.
While in Niflr Aesa and her survivors were subjected to a cruel game of the gods. The Varan learned of a fabled weapon in this realm of ruin, which intirgued Aesa, and the survivors embarked on a quest to retrieve it. After claiming the sword the gods of that realm deemed the Varan worthy and returned them to their 'prime', granting some of them their youth.
With newfound vitality, youth, and vigor, and with Mistbreaker in her possession, Aesa led the Varan and other allies in a twisted contest. After proving their worth the Varan were permitted to leave Niflr aboard their longships, finally arriving at the Mistbourne Isles.

"Oh!' Aesa giggled, "I'm sorry, young lady. Yes, I promise my warriors will keep their weapons sheathed. And worry not, they shall not mistreat your women either." The Varan on the ships were inhabitants of Valland, so all had sworn fealty to Aesa, who had earned a reputation as a formidable shieldmaiden. As far as any of them were concerned, women were the equals of men - and gender disparities did not exist between them in most aspects.
"Having trouble with... what?" Aesa could smell it. It was all too familiar. It was what she and her followers had smelled in Niflr, before they arrived in the Isles. "Draugr," she said in unison with Ásbera. "My people fought them in Niflr," she said, "we're all too familiar with their kind. If they threaten you and your people, then I swear I will aid you in your defense."
Aesa held her right-hand forward, as if to over a handshake to Ásbera. "Allies?"

Ásbera held Aesa's hand "Allies." she said in confirmation, "Join me in searching this foe, we shall free it's soul from it's cursed existence."
Baggi and Astrid could also smell the Draugr, this forced them to get closer to where the conversation was taking place, only staying there in case of anything going wrong even though they trusted in Ásbera's skills and the woman she was talking to looked very capable and between the both of them, they should be able to easily deal with the threat.

"I am with you," Aesa confirmed the alliance. She smiled at Ásbera before turning to wave her shielded stump at her crewmates. The Varan longships secured themselves on the beach and began to disembark. They carried their shields with them - displaying the artwork upon them that represented their clans. Their weapons were sheathed and were peaceful in their disposition. They began to congregate towards the area that Aesa and Ásbera stood.
They were tired. They had been sitting on the longships for a while and were happy to stretch their legs, but what they wanted to rest upon the earth. But Aesa wondered if they would get their rest; how far away were these draugr, exactly? The One-Handed looked to Ásbera for direction. The Varan were at the Ironwolves disposal.
"The strongest bonds are forged in the heat of battle, Ásbera. It is an old Varan proverb. We will stand with you in your fight."

"I reckon there's not many of them, a big group would've alerted the village but this is the second time whe had Draugr around today and since they're hidden it means there's a least one Draugr of the second kind, meaning they are intelligent and have some but not much access to magic, since he can talk, we might want to interrogate it, can you send some man to go pass wherever these things are they can't scape, they need to move quick and quietly."
Even though that Ásbera was a teenager, it was clear she was smart, her physical appearance gave the impression she was well trained, and that she was.

Aesa looked to her left, and then to her right. Her Varan warriors were a strong and proud people and would not hesitate to answer a call to arms. But they had fought their way out of Nilfr, and then spent countless days aboard the longships. Mentally, they were exhausted, and were longing for a place to rest upon land. Ásbera's people needed help fighting the Draugr, and it pained Aesa to ask her warriors to tackle another challenge.
"Wolfguard!" she called out, turning around to face those warriors behind her. These well-armed men were among the most experienced warriors in her crew, and they wore distinctive wolf-pelts upon their armor. They were the official 'jarls guard', or huskarls, of Valland Hold. "Let our brothers and sisters rest," she told them, "and let us join our allies in their fight against the Draugr. Let us show these putrid foes how Wolves fight."
The Wolfguard roared and cheered; the noise made from hitting their shields was almost deafening. Aesa's elite warriors would face the Draugr while the rest of the Varan found a suitable place to build camp. She hoped Ásbera would be okay with this. Turning back around to look at her ally, she would say "let's go."

Ásbera relayed her plan to encircle an capture the Draugr, the location whe she thought to have catch a glimpse of something that looked like a sword was easy enough to circle and her new allies would surely be able to easily prevent it's scape.
When everyone was in position she realized it was only one them, she started laughing, "I thought there was going to be more, and if I knew it was you I would've came by my own."
It seemed like she had history with that specific Draugr it was alive.
"Ah, if it isn't the redhead bitch !" Ásbera ignored the undead words and said "Aesa, leave this coward to me, only interfere if something goes wrong."
Ásbera was very agile and weaved through the undead sword, it was almost like she was dancing. Frustrated the undead gave her an opening by lifting it's weapon way too high above it's head, The girl dropped the axe she had since it was too heavy for a quick strike, Instead she dropkicked the Draugr, hitting its face.
The Draugr fell on its back dropping it's weapon, the girl quickly got up and waited for the undead to try and get up, when it did, it had it's back towards Ásbera. She jumped on it's back, putting him in a headlock, pulling him to the ground and shouted "Tie it down !" The undead struggled a bit but stopped when Ásbera said "Stop struggling or I'll rip the other testicle that I couldn't rip away from your crotch last time." He wouldn't resist anymore
After the Draugr was coutured Ásbera would thank everyone for coming with them and explained their history.
"Three winters ago this guy was alive and tried forcing himself onto me so I ripped one of it's balls out." He got the beating of a life time from my father and the village left him to due in the cold and alone." After that, she would call for some of her people, they took the Draugr away and helped the newcomers with unloading the boats and provided places for them to rest for the night that was rapidly approaching.

It felt longer skipping the coast as it did going through the mist. Though it only felt that way, for it wasn't true at all. Liv had finally made the call to find a place to dock the ship. After a while they found the cove and with the call of Livs voice and the swift actions of the moon maidens they docked up under a reef and made their approach to the main beach line. Liv decided to lead a group to scout out the coves beach, she took with her five other maidens. They all in full armor rowed in their own canoes to the main beach.
The towering cliffs around made it quiet from the wind, and with the calm waters gave it a calm aura. After dragging all their canoes ashore and leaning them all against each other, they all started looking around for any clear signs that someone or something already inhabits this area. Liv instructed her maidens to stay by the sight of the ship before going off on her own. Liv walked further into the cove alone. Her pace was uncanny for how much weight was on her, and her gait and the sound her footsteps she was making was of a perfect upper class stalker. She stalked her way through the cove listening and checking everything. The maidens who came ashore also started chatting with each other, mainly about what they were going to do if they set up here.
Liv after walking far enough from the group and seeing no clear signs of current residents in the cove, plopped down onto the ground. She was alone after months of not being and she basked in it. She sat staring at the waters in front of her. She never takes off her helmet and even in this case still stares towards the waters with the emotionless gaze of the helmet. Though under the rounded piece of metal that so defined Liv was a woman content in the moment. She sat ready to leap into a sprint if her girls called for help, but was currently focusing her senses on the peace around her rather than being too alert. The ship and the maidens way back at the beach were all still very alert, with the ships crew ready to raise anchor and charge ashore if needed.

In the beach, not too far from where they were there was the sign of some sort of a pyre, it had a rectangle shape, and it had the length of a person, it didn't took too much to figure out that a corpse was burned there but the most astute observers could tell this had happened at least a few weeks ago, if somebody went to inspect, they would be able to smell a weird, foul odor that could be described as a mix of sweet and rotten scent, it was faint enough that a person had to get really close to smell it.
At the back of the beach there was a slope, composed mainly by small rocks but there was some large ones, beyond that a plain with a village with one large building that seemed to be almost finished being built not very far, even further away small forest and a large mountain range that seemed to, somewhat, isolate the whole region.
The newcomers would be left to their devices for some time until faint talking could be heard, at the beginning nothing could be understood by as the voices came closer, some words could be made out, they were talking about some sort of project to be carried out at the beach, it was most likely a dock, soon they were overlooking the people at the beach, they stopped talking immediately after seeing what was going on at the beach.
They were both tall and had large builds, the man on the left had a wood axe and runic tattoos in his face, the other had a blacksmith apron and dark hair, he was holding some kind of paper, they looked a bit on edge as they whispered to each other, the dark haired one left and the and the one with the axe spoke loudly as he ready the weapon.
"Identify yourselves and your Intentions."

Liv heard the small shuffle of the two behind her, locking herself back into alert mode. She heard whispers but not what the two men were saying. She continued staring forward like nothing was happening behind her. One of the girls a bit further down the beach caught up with what was going on, alerting the other maidens of the men confronting Liv and them. The ship was unaware of the man. Liv then heard one man walk away leaving only one.
When he spoke the girls down the beach remained silent, instead with their hand on their swords and their shields at their feet. Liv slowly stood up with a sigh. Liv without looking at the man then spoke "Word of advice kid, don't confront someone out of your league alone." Her accent was elegant and enchanting though the helmet made it sound more masculine, though her voice sounded very tired. Liv then slowly and tiredly turned around to face the man.
"You may call me Lividfang or arbiter maiden, whatever suits you best, you may call my girls simply maidens, we are of the service to the ring of Rorke or whomever needs us and we are here to find shelter for a while." Liv said without missing a beat, she then stared coldly at the man. She nodded towards the mans axe and then patted her buster sword handle, signaling that this could be a standoff if he proved to be a threat. The women further down the beach all stood ready, the women on the boat only starting to pick up what was happening.
Liv waited for the man to move, if he would attack her she was ready to pull her blade, if her moved towards her girls she was ready to kill.

Behind the man, a different, more intricate and definitely enchanted axe bonked the the man i the back of the head. "I thought Fengr was Supposed to be the paranoid one here Baggi." The source of the voice was a 17 Year old girl, she had small build but it was clearly strong , blue eyes and fiery red hair, her voice was soft but also demanded authority " Father isn't here, He is still visiting Varia." The man smile after hearing those words "so i'll take care if this. The man gave a small bow of respect and left.
"I am Ásbera Ironwolf, daughter of the Jarl Freyr Ironwolf and I'm in charge here for the time being, i would apologize for Baggi's behavior but under the circumstances all precautions must be taken." The girl put the axe on her shoulder, she also had a sword with on her waist that matched her size better than the axe, we can offer you temporary shelter for now, we can also offer food but do not mistake my good will with weakness, every single person here are warriors and even the children would fight to protect their homes, of course it won't come to this, will it ? She asked hoping to hear a yes. These people either weren't afraid to die or they were confident that they would win, two thing was clear, they were not the type to attack first and something happened to out them in edge even before the maidens had arrive.

Also to everyones shock once more her scarring went solid at 20.
After countless years of serving the ring and Rorke she took her 2 year retreat to live as a normal person. During this time she had a child with a man. The man left her soon after but she fell deeply in love with a woman whom she had to leave. Soon after coming back to her dutys the floods came then the fall of Rorke. She with her platoon that she had taken out fear proofing that day took a spare boat and set on their way. They traveled until they say the mist then went in.

Liv only stood there, towering over the 17 year old girl who was confronting her. She didn't move until the girl was done talking then Liv took a step forward. She let her hand off one of her three sword on the back of her hip and stared down at the girl. She was assessing if this girl could pose any threat, or if she was just telling a big lie and she'd have to fight her way out of a village, wouldn't be the first time but sure as moon was annoying.
"Listen child, how about we wait for your father to come back, until then me and my girls will be just over there. Cool, great, fantastic." Liv said the last part with a sigh before starting to walk back towards the ship. It was clear she wasn't going to listen or trust someone so young saying they're in a role of authority. The strange part was if listened closely Liv sounded only slightly older than Asbera through the muffled helmet and exotic accent.

Asbera tighten her grip on the axe in her shoulder and it glowed a faint blue, she did not appreciated the words but kept her composure. She spoke with the authority that few could had "As long as my father isn't here i am the one in charge, you wish to speak to him rather than me ? Fine, but your disrespect will be noted and..."
That's when the smell hit everyone in the area, her eyes widened and she held the axe ready for a fight as she looked towards the village, the scent was a foul mix between a sweet and rotten flesh smell, "Draugr !" She said, she turned around and talked to Liv "Do as you wish, help, or don't but be prepared for a fight anyway for the undead are here."
The smell became almost unbearable, about 10 Draugr were trying to flank the village and circled around to where the conversation was taking place. This first sprinted towards the girl, unfortunately for it, it smell betrayed him and with a swift motion Asbera decapitated the creature.
