Givena of Éledún

Roleplay posts: 48
Age: ~23
Appearance: (note: icon temporary)
5'7" tall with a relatively thin, semi-athletic frame. Her blonde hair is cut to her shoulders and held up in a half-tail, with a pair of goggles resting on top of her head both keeping the hair out of her heterochromatic one-blue-and-one-aqua eyes. Generally she wears simple orange-ish tan breeches and a green sleeved shirt, occasionally with a harness made of wood and metal scraps and often carrying one or more of her creations.
Equipment: She has a small set of tools with which to cut and nail together wood and thinner metals, as well as a buckler-like shield with a blade coming out the front, cobbled together from scrap materials. She also has a pair of broken mechanical wings that are missing their old power source and a half finished forearm-mounted crossbow.
Skills and Abilities: She is highly creative, able to use even discarded and scrap materials to create interesting small tools, weapons, and similar pieces.
She is good with carpentry and basic mechanics, with passable knowledge in working cold metal.
Biography: She was born on the island of Éledún, home to one of the most magically gifted groups of humans in her world. However, from her birth it was known to all that she would lack any of these gifts for her entire life. Her eyes were enough to tell them that. So, to make up for the magical inadequacy she was so self-conscious of, she took up tinkering with wood and metal, creating small inventions to help around the town or to help fight(some...working much better than others). She spent most of her life trying to prove herself to her peers, but was always viewed as some eccentric outcast on the edge of town, until the flood washed everything away.

Reluctantly, Givena follows Hochrescal, taking a moment to catch up. “What do you mean by that? What about it is surprising?” She asks, quickly surveying the area to see if anything else about it seemed odd, as well as noting what the path back to her belongings would be.

Appearance: As a celestial vulx, Ji-Min carries a phantasmic, eerie appearance even among her kind: hair like moonlight, a bushel of three tails, and a menagerie of tattoos that dance about her skin as though they were alive as she. She's also a head taller than other vulx, rising to be as tall as most human women. She wears a mask atop her head that will, under certain circumstances, change shape: one into a fox, the other into a human, both blank. She wears silken robes that are too large, and beneath that, a complex layering of undergarments unsuited for the isles.

Equipment: Ji Min uses the two wakizashi painted into her skin for combat. Otherwise, she has little in the way of adventurer's tools: only a waterskin and another leather pouch for food. Around her neck, hidden beneath her collar, is a necklace wound tightly around a pearl.

Skills and Abilities: Being the celestial yokai of winter, Ji Min has varying, if subdued, powers over the themes of frost.

It was early morning when the explorer arrived.
The sun crested over the mountains in purple twilight turned hibiscus pink, freckled with vanishing stars. The air was crisp and cool, carried by an easy breeze that made the trees chatter. The waves rushed up the shore and fell again, giving rhythm to the air. It was then that the birds joined with song.
With their feet crunching on the sands, the stranger wandered. It was the smoke in the distance that first drew them here, but it was the red soil that piqued their interest. This was no regular land, nor would these be regular people. Perhaps that was fitting, as the same could be said for the figure in billowing white robes.
Little could be said for the traveler, as they revealed no face, no flesh, and no identity other than the character painted on their mask. Few could read it, and even then the name would mean little. Atop their head, a straw hat sat, and hanging from it were a dozen brass tassels. Even walking upon the sand, they did not bother them, feet placing one in front of the other with a smooth, practiced rhythm.

Even walking upon the sand, they did not bother them, feet placing one in front of the other with a smooth, practiced rhythm. The sand would soon give way to an odd substance underneath the figure's feet, recoiling somewhat from their cold aura. The stuff was a deep red, and exceeded a feeling of demonic energy that the Yokai would not have felt before, unless they had had a brush with the demonic before. The stuff was spread far as the eye could see inland, hanging off trees and bushes, though seemingly harmless, as the parts that could be seen underneath was vibrant and green. There was a clear path inward where the foliage had been beaten back.

With a slipper made of twine, the robed figure scraped at the red substance. The hat tilted to the side, much like anyone would do with something curious to investigate. Raising their head, they observed the scarlet growth touching all before it, and with that in mind, the stranger in the white robes continued on, moving through the path and welcoming the adventure ahead.

The path was quite pleasant to be honest, sun filtered through the canopy, and occasionally a bird would flit by twittering happily.
That was however, until an arrow shot in front of the yokai, flying across its vision into a tree trunk, where it stayed quivering in the wood.

The figure froze when the arrow embedded itself into the bark. For a moment, it pondered the weapon, one finger coming up to its mask. It then looked into the woods where the arrow was shot from, head tilting to the side.

It then looked into the woods where the arrow was shot from, head tilting to the side. From the shadows of the forest he heard a voice. "akh! bak'lyu!" After a few moments that same voice would call again. "You, state your name and business in these woods!"

The robed figure scratched at a cheek that wasn't there. With a moment's pause, they shrugged, hands at their sides. Knowing this would do nothing to alleviate the hostility, the stranger drooped their shoulders, then tapped on the symbol on their mask, then paused.

Knowing this would do nothing to alleviate the hostility, the stranger drooped their shoulders, then tapped on the symbol on their mask, then paused. After hearing no response, but the stranger not making any hostile movements, the owner emerged from the darkness into view. She seemed to be a sort of Sea Elf, her skin light blue and her hair jet black, though seemingly wet despite being a good ways inward from the coast. She wore shell armor plates and helmets and had a rather large bow trained upon the figure.
"I repeat, what is your name and intentions!?"

The robed figure threw up their arms to their sides in apprehension and a loss for actions. They looked left, then right, then straight at the sea elf with a jittering dance of their feet. They put a finger up to where their mouth would be, trying to get a very important point across. They then pointed to the path.

Fine, can you tell me why you wanted to go that way? We've never seen you before nor have I seen your kind before." She asked, her sea green eyes narrowed in suspicion.

The stranger raised their hand and gave the merperson what could only be described as a roll of the eyes. No eyes could be seen, but the brim of the figure's hat conveyed motion with an added bit of character quite well, or so they thought. It might have also been seen as an exasperated sigh. Then, struck by an idea, the white robes held a finger up in the air, then shuffled for something just beneath their folds. Out came a brown gourd that had been covered in some clear substance to protect it from rot and age. The traveler shook it.
Oh, there was a lot of liquid inside.

I think I'll pass." She said, lowering her bow. "if you won't talk, then we'll have to bring you to the king, unless you'll answer me now."

The white-robed figure shook the bottle again, then placed one hand on their hip. They looked to the ground in thought for a moment before looking back over the mountains. Without further attempts to say anything, they lifted a hand, bowed, then turned back to the center of the islet, where they retreated back to.
