Appearance: As a celestial vulx, Ji-Min carries a phantasmic, eerie appearance even among her kind: hair like moonlight, a bushel of three tails, and a menagerie of tattoos that dance about her skin as though they were alive as she. She's also a head taller than other vulx, rising to be as tall as most human women. She wears a mask atop her head that will, under certain circumstances, change shape: one into a fox, the other into a human, both blank. She wears silken robes that are too large, and beneath that, a complex layering of undergarments unsuited for the isles.

She smelled it before she saw it. Frost vulx had an incredible sense of smell, able to detect things deep in the snow or acres in the distance from the scent alone. Blood was easy to smell, as it was both distinct and rarely in abundance. This time, it was overwhelming, filling her nose with that coppery salt that raised her hackles and made her grimace.
"Graveyard? Smells like a slaughter," said Ji-Min, growing pale. She backed away, hefting her spear. "What do you see?"

Appearance: Jackingson Pillberry is just short six feet, hanging at about 5'10. His fur is a bright white color with dashes of smooth brown laced about, particularly in the ears. His eyes are a dark red hazel. He appears to be part Lepus americanus, or as the layman would know the snowshoe hare.
His clothing is very professional. He wears a slim grey bowler hat, with a small feather of unidentified origin tucked inside. Moving downwards he possesses a black bowtie laced inside a white colored shirt. Over the shirt he wears a black vest which carries a fob watch. The watch is not ornate, and looks like it was built to be hit with a hammer and keep on ticking. It's most certainly a mix of iron and with the inner workings, copper. Black dress pants are the last article of visible clothing. The clothing appears to have minor magical properties as they clean up incredibly well for the amount of blood and dirt that end up building up from time to time. They also are incredibly sturdy and tear resistant, which is evidenced by the fact that the pockets end up with heavy metal shoved into them.
Equipment: He has a mildly magical fob watch that can be switched from compass to watch that self adjusts no matter where you end up.
He carries two brass knuckles which slip into the back of his dress clothes quite neatly.
Under his right sleeve he has a knife that will slide out of a simple mechanism on his wrist.
He also carries some sort of flask that can turn water into cider when left alone for a day.
Skills and Abilities: Jackingson is suspected to have some amount of vampire blood in his system. The following powers and abilities have been observed:
Heavily increased strength; Jackingson has been observed tossing things weighing easily weighing three times his body weight with ease. However it is noted that his emotional state is always high when such instances occur, when he's not in a high emotional state he appears to act like the above average male in this category.
High sense of smell; The overwhelming theory behind Jackingson's uncanny sense of smell is his relation to the snowshoe hare.
Advanced speed; Thankfully, he does not possess super human levels of speed, but he can move deftly fast becoming close to a blur if he gets the right velocity, which isn't hard with how fast and high he can jump.
Jackingson appears incredibly dependent on a steady diet of raw meat and blood. The exact details of such a diet has not been directly observed, but it can be assumed that without it he would not be able to match his superhuman feats.
Biography: Jackingson Pillberry was originally detected in a no name town running the local bar. It is unknown where he was before that point, and why he's suddenly relocated to the isles. It is known however that he had an accomplice of sorts, a female dullahan's head with bright red hair.

Jackingson nodded to her as he leapt down to the earth, "Outside of the overwhelming abundance of spoiled blood, looked like some elk where slaughtered, couple humans, one elf all hung, drawn, and quartered. I think I saw a boar but it was hard to tell with the head missing and skin strewn about. Frankly none of it looked good either, seems to have been sitting for at least one good hot morning. There was also a little bit of a drawing in the sand, but that seems best left untouched and forgotten," he said with a grimace, "I say we warn your two friends and stick together in that party of four."

"I'm not aware of where Khepri is," began Ji-Min. "She has a good pair of wings. I am sure she will not land unless she sees us." Or so she hoped, but that Goldenfeather woman was a sharp one, even if she seemed uptight and stubborn most times. "I will alert Kroe." And like that, she was away, swift as all vulx were, her little body trailing swiftly through the trees until she reached the shore, where the half-orc was hacking away at a particularly massive tree.
"Kroe! There's been a slaughter!" she exclaimed, garnering a wide-eyed stare from the green warrior. He put away the axe and pulled his sword in a swift, fluid motion.
"Where is the man? The Jackingson one," he asked.
Ji-Min pointed back into the woods, looking to see if he followed her.

Lumme
New
Roleplay posts: 2
Appearance: Lumme is of the Mersine folk. A race in her land that sprouted randomly from plants. As such, her constitution is small and delicate. From heel to the crown of her petals, she is mere 4'6". Her skin is alabaster white with coral to reddish highlights on the edges and crevices of the head petals. Her eyes are like freshly erupted lava and their intensity depends on the way the light hits them.
Lumme always wears loose clothing be that as pants and shirts, or dresses. She also never parts with her necklace - a thin, hand-crafted golden necklace with a pendant that is a gemstone the color of her highlights set in the discreet gold plate. This pendant will occasionally glow if Lumme is experiences heightened emotions.
---------------------------------------------------------
Equipment: Lumme has an across-the-back sack that carries her clothes and a few crafting tools (mainly for woodwork, some needlework, and sewing).
She also washed on the shore with her companion Ogmath who she tenderly calls Og. Og with his black fur, slender body, and long sharp ears was called a hell dog by those who didn't know any better (https://i.pinimg.com/564x/c2/6d/a0/c26da03b5f773d9524c1bd413c41dec6.jpg). He is by a head taller than Lumme and so she is often seen to be riding on his back thanks to her lightweight. He is her protector, companion, and a ride drama king when he wants to be.
---------------------------------------------------------
Skills and Abilities: Lumme has always been a crafter. She can pick up a crafting skill with speed and ease, though refining may take time depending on the complexity of the craft. Place her in front of any material, tell her your vision, give her time, and Lumme will eventually succeed in delivering.
Despite her constitution, she can sometimes surprise with her strength which seems to be tied to the intensity of her focus.
---------------------------------------------------------
Biography: Lumme lost count of how long ago she came to consciousness. Mersine folks were born at random and without parents but that did not make them lonely. Nature was Mersine Folk's family and they relied on it for protection. They were also often seen at the company of wild animals. In their presence, even the wildest and fiercest would calm. That's how Lumme befriended Og. One day, she found him hurt, hiding under the roots of a rotting tree. He was hunted by local villagers for a string of cattle-killing and human attacks. Despite her Mersine blood, more than once Og tried to shoo her away with needlepoint teeth and sharp claws. It was her stubbornness and refusal to leave that eventually she healed him with simple herbs and patience. He never seemed to have forgotten that and followed her around until the villagers found them and together they had to run.
That's how Og and Lumme traveled their land from town to town, getting eyeballed, and at times avoided. At that point, Lumme discovered her skills for crafting and over many years built her name that at times stories about her preceded her arrival.
That was until the war broke out. No one wanted pretty stone mosaics for decorations, intricate wood carvings, or glasswork to show off. It was all weapons and as much as Lumme wanted to avoid that, her and Og's survival started depending on that. Where the Mersine folk bonded with Nature to protect its slow eradication in the name of war, Lumme put her survival first and helped to craft the weapons that killed her people and many others. It haunted her in nightmares, ate away on her happiness, nearly eradicated her relationship with Og. She turned at him with anger at times, blaming him for poisoning her with his rage and anger of all those years ago.
When the war was at its climax, the world was about to end and the mist came, Lumme was at the end of her rope. She had dug herself a hole in the ground in plans to plant herself, to disappear, and to forget.
Yet despite everything, it was Og who dug her out of the earth, carried her in his teeth weak and delirious, and snuck onto a ship that left their world behind. This time, he saved her and gave her a second chance in life. But he couldn't heal her wounds. Those were up to Lumme.

Their ship did get stranded at the end. Amidst the cursing and the captain meting out punishment to a crew who became sailors out of desperation and need to survive, Lumme and Og made it to shore among one of the first. The other ship moored away from the coast seemed to have also dispatched some passengers.
The longer Lumme stayed in the sunshine, the faster her strength returned, and by the time Og's paws dug into the sandy shore, she was sitting upright on his back, carrying her sack on her own. Behind her, people cheered, spoke about escaping the Mist. They weren't far from falling onto their knees and kissing the earth. Lumme listened with raised eyebrows. She remembered none of what they spoke of. To her, they appeared like lunatics.
"Well, let's go, Og. Best to leave them to it," Lumme told her companion. She wasn't sure she wanted to stay with her own people. She was neither sure that she wanted to enter the forest. Based on what she heard and saw, it was more than evident now that this was not the home she knew, which was all the more reason to be careful.
They walked along the shore. A massive creature was felling a tree in the distance, and someone dashed out of the forest screaming bloody murder. Og, as always, surprised Lumme when he threw his head up and sniffed.
There really wasn't any escape from the violence, was there? Lumme thought. She squeezed her thighs around Og, and her hands grabbed his fur tighter, hoping he'd know not to move yet. She wasn't sure a slaughter was something she was ready to see again, having just escaped that sight from her homeland.

His eyes were narrowed and his ears were flat on the back of his head. He frowned standing up and looking about. Speaking slowly he went on, "We have no idea on deducing when this attack happened, or where the person or thing behind it went. If I were a betting man, I'd say they would have moved further into the island. Sticking around with so many new people moving inwards wouldn't be the best idea, not unless they really good at blending in. In that case we have a larger problem..."

Ji-Min dwelled on this for a few thoughtful seconds. She thought about moving inland, herself, but if that meant death to the extent of which she saw it, she wasn't so sure. In the midst of her indecision, a large shadow cast over them, followed by a familiar, clear whistle. The vulx's ears perked up as she turned her eyes skyward, looking toward Khepri. The duralam circled once before coming to land on a high branch, pointing into the woods.
"I saw a ship on the water south of here. There is a large lake that stretches beyond the horizon. I imagine it would be worth exploring," she told them. A frown was evident on her face. "I didn't see what made that mess, but the trees are thick enough to hide anything human-sized. Do be careful? I'll be flying southeast, following the lakeside. If anyone has settled, that would be the perfect place."
Without hearing Ji-Min's complaints, she raised her wings, pushed off, and flew away. The vulx pouted but heeded her words.
"So we will need to go inland after all," she surmised. "We might need to warn the people on that ship."

Think about it, they're so many things that could have caused a slaughter of animals and a few washed up ships-men. There are such a plethora of monsters and horrors that have no doubt fled to this island," he said stepping over and folding up his clothes, "We're no use to others if we can't actually defend ourselves any. There's not much news yet to give anyway, a slaughter like that could have been made by any number of things, and there's no way to know which direction it went."

"Then what is it you suppose we do?" said Ji-Min, her tone tinted with impatience. "Get on the boat and sail elsewhere? It is no promise that another shore will be safe."
The orc grunted at this, looking down the path where they said the slaughter took place. Briefly, he wondered if they really should just board the ship. If it killed that many people, whatever it was, or whatever they were. There was no way to know if there were more than one. Perhaps Ji-Min's nose would be able to tell them.
"Bring me there," he said, looking to Jackson and the vulx. "The fox has an impressive sense of smell. She will know how far it is."
Ji-Min's ears laid flat against her head and the blood drained from her face, but she did not rebel against the orc's request.

He exclaimed eagerly.

Neither Ji-Min nor Kroe looked "ready for a fun brawl," but they were prepared to fight if it came to it. Slowly, Ji-Min stepped forward, taking in a long, silent breath to follow the smell of the blood. She stayed close to the two men who accompanied her but didn't cling to either of them like a scared little bird. She was willing to go forth.
And soon enough, there it was. The smell of death all around, nearly choking her with its presence. Her ears pinned to the back of her head and her tail pressed firmly against one of her legs, but she continued. The smell of what did this had to be around. But what would it be? What would it smell like? A beast with a musk? An assassin's sweat? Something with strong saliva?

Jackingson Pillberry was humming, it was an old tune, a tune originating in the depths of the forest. It rang of wood, bone, and had an almost wolfish tune to it. It spoke of an older time, from before the destruction, before the rise of Isra, and back into the olden times of simplicity. He moved quickly and deftly into the carnage landing straight into the center of it, one of the few clean patches of grass to land on in specific. The hare turned round with a spin, "Nope, nothing here is changed. Same as a few minutes ago."

Equipment: Ji Min uses the two wakizashi painted into her skin for combat. Otherwise, she has little in the way of adventurer's tools: only a waterskin and another leather pouch for food. Around her neck, hidden beneath her collar, is a necklace wound tightly around a pearl.

Skills and Abilities: Being the celestial yokai of winter, Ji Min has varying, if subdued, powers over the themes of frost.

There it was.
Just as she predicted, a heavy, wild smell hung in the air. It was something like damp fur and rot, what with the sweet notes that floated around inside the stench. It was distinct from the rot happening to the bodies around it. She caught the lead and began to wander deeper into the forest until she was beyond the massacre, looking out into the trees. The tail was old and barely lingering.
"It's long gone," said Ji-Min with certainty. "We will be safe from the beast. I can take us in the opposite direction."
Kroe nodded, then gave Jackingson a side-eye. The orc, like many of his kind, did not seem fond of smiling. "We must find civilization. Khepri will tell us if they are dangerous before we reach it."

Jackingson gave a cheery grin over at Kroe rather good natured like, before glancing further at the carnage, "Probably should go bury some of the more intact bodies," he said with a very small frown. He stepped over looking at one of them, "Anyone have a shovel?"

Kroe shook his head. "No such thing. It would be best to leave them."
Ji-Min looked disappointed as she looked over the massacre, drawing a huff from the orc. "Or burn them. Release the spirits as the northerners would."
The vulx seemed to relax, then looked over to Jackingson to see if he was satisfied with the idea. Kroe, however, was already stacking the bodies.

Jackingson nodded, "That's just as fitting, leaving the bodies would just be disrespectful," he joined Kroe, in heaving up the corpses, after taking off a few articles of clothing of course. He seemed awful fond of his jacket and hat. He frowned slightly, "So, you lot planning on fitting in with one of the more standard settlements or making your own?"
