With still some rubbing of the bandage until the man gripped them which at first they started to resist even putting some good force against the mans, but not enough. They understood the message and stopped allowing themselves to just lay in the sand watching the fish flail about. The figure say the fish struggle not sure what it was doing wasn't it a relief for it to get air. Why did it look like how they were not long ago, suffering.
The figure had watched the man quickly dispatch the fish and then start to cook it. The figure started to smell the fish cook and their stomach howled for that scent. They started their way over there but then the man stood over them before they began to push crawl. He projected sound from his mouth which just made the figure stare and blink at them blankly. But a few second later the man knelt down and started to undo the figures restraints. The figure happily accepted this even extending their arms to help, which ended up just throwing their hands into the mans chest making it harder.
Once the figures restraints were fully off The figure slowly moved their limbs apart like a starfish. They were now just laying there being at peace and unbound for the first time. They stared at the sky and its colors enjoying the sound of the fire cackling and ocean crashing against distant rocks. It was only the smell of the fish that broke them out of this trance. They slowly started to build themselves up like one would try to stack a pile of rocks. Over time they finally got themselves to an upright sitting position now able to view the man and the fire. The figure watched the fire and the fish cooking on it and went to reach for it but then saw the bandage. They started shaking their arm like a cat that has something stuck to their paw. They stopped once they saw the man again with red designs on his skin. The figure then started to reach towards the designs of red on the man's skin.

Appearance: The reference image is a commissioned piece and is accurate.
Alden is 6 even, with shoulder-length messy black hair, and several days worth of beard stubble. He is handsome, with a powerful jaw, mid-set cheekbones, and a perpetual grin that makes him seem younger than he really is. His bright green eyes, constantly sparkle with barely contained mirth. He has the lithe well-muscled body of a swordsman, and he moves with considerable grace and dexterity.
If one were to do a more thorough examination of Alden's eyes they may notice a further detail. Around the outside edge of his iris, there's an intricate series of minuscule grey runes.
Underneath his shirt, Alden's skin is a mass of scar tissue. Starting from just below his neckline, there is very little space that does not sport some relic of a past injury. A particularly observant person may also note that among these scars, some are a bright scarlet. These scarlet scars form an intricate series of runes hiding amidst the rest of the scars.
-------------------------------------------
Equipment: Alden's general loadout when he goes fighting consists of the following:
A twin set of enchanted shortswords. The simple straight blades are unnatural dark, absorbing rather than reflecting light. Giving the enchanted steel an appearance closer to cold iron. The guard has the Isran sun emblem emblazoned in a medallion shape just above the guard, which is wrapped in simple leather. The enchantments increase their sharpness and durability, as well as being able to ignite the blood of anything that he has pierced with either blade.
Numerous braces and hidden throwing knives all over his body. At one point, these were also enchanted but when the calamity struck he didn't have time to grab his original set. So these are all well-made but ultimately mundane weapons. Still, with his strength and skill, they can be quite deadly.
Unfortunately, at present, he is also missing his armour. His preferred armour is leather dyed in mottled black and greys, with strike plates sewn between layers for added protection. His old set was also enchanted for increased protection from physical and magical attacks.
-------------------------------------------
Skills and Abilities: Alden is, for lack of a better term, a weapon master. He has been trained to use almost any weapon you can think to name. Relentless daily training with each, with extraordinarily demanding expectations on performance and harsh incentives for failure giving a level of skill with most of them that make him formidable.
However, his preferred style involves twin short swords. While he is skilled with all of his weapons thanks to training, he discovered a natural talent with the blade. His level of skill when wielding his short swords is on another level entirely, nearly transcendent in his skill.
On top of that, he is a living magical enchantment. Carved into his body are a variety of runes that grant him numerous innate abilities. He is inhumanly strong, around three to four times stronger than a man in a similar state of physical fitness would be. This also applies to his endurance, speed, reflexes, and other physical traits. He also has regenerative abilities exceeding human normal, able to heal from even broken bones in a matter of days rather than weeks.
In addition, he is immune to most poisons and resistant to the rest. The runes etched into his eyes ensure he can see the same no matter the level of light and reveal magical auras to him. Runes along his back make him impossible to scry on directly and provide him a measure of resistance to magical attack. This, combined with training, also makes him immune to magical mental influence. Finally, runes on his feet dampen any sound he might make taking his already considerable stealth abilities to another level entirely.
Speaking of his training also included all of the skills one would think an Assassin should have. He knows how to mix poisons, move without being seen or making noise, scale walls, lie or disguise himself, pick locks, pick pockets, just for starters. He is also quite skilled at clerical work and he has some diplomacy ability after thirty years leading the Sun Marshals.
Beyond all of this, Alden also possesses an incredible amount of willpower. If Alden decides that he will do something, there is very little that can stop him from doing it. In fact, at present, the only thing that could deter him from a course of action is Captain Naoki. The former Empress is the only person he has any loyalty to and he often values her judgement on matters above his own.
-------------------------------------------
Biography: Alden was born to a small farming family in an out-of-the-way village. His parents named him Toan and until he was five his destiny was most likely to live and die on the same farm he was born. However, that all changed when Pride arrived.
The leader of a criminal group known as The Set, Pride offered his parents a sum of money that would make any poor farmer's heart stop. Enough money to change their lives forever and all he wanted was Alden, one of nearly a dozen children. A child that wasn't even old enough to help with chores around the farm yet. And the man as so nice, he wanted a ward that he could train to be a retainer how bad of a life could that be?
The answer to that question was basically Hell. Pride was a potent alchemist, enchanter, and scholar and he had but one goal in mind. To create a superior warrior. Alden was subjected to hellish daily training along with six other children. Forced to learn to fight with every weapon, against any foe, in any condition. His limbs were broken deliberately and he was forced to continue to fight and train in constant agony. And this was among the mildest of the ways he was trained.
The culmination of the training came when he was twelve. When he and the six other children were locked in a room and told that the only one who got to leave... was the only one to survive. Of course, surviving was hardly a reward.
Once Pride had only the strongest of the children left he proceeded to the next step of his plan. Alden's memories and identity were seared away as Pride carved runes into his flesh and his very soul. Transforming the young man into a living magical artifact and keeping him on a drug that suppressed all of his emotions.
From there Alden became the new Wrath of the set, a weapon meant only to slay those he was told to. That may have been all he would be but Pride made a miscalculation, Alden's runes helped him to build an immunity to the dosage meant to keep his emotions in check, a weakness made worse by Pride having let him keep his anger thinking it would make him a better weapon. Eventually, events conspired and Alden snapped when the only member of The Set to be kind to him, Sloth, was killed for threatening to expose Pride.
Alden, driven into a deeper rage than ever before killed Envy, Lust, Gluttony, and even disembowelled Pride. Greed manage to escape and Alden slaughtered everything in his path trying to catch the man. Eventually succeeding in his goal. Bereft of a target for his rage and the chase having left him in the middle of nowhere Alden finally collapsed the trauma and coming off of the dosage causing him to bury most of his memories.
He wound up in Isra where his talents and skill soon earned him the eye of the then, criminal Madam Naoki. She recruited him as one of her enforcers a role he continued as her power expanded and grew until she finally became Empress. His reward for his loyalty? Appointment to the head of The Sun Marshals her special police force, effectively making him her right-hand man.
During this time he also uncovered his own past and learned that Pride had survived, the man had made preparations for such an eventuality and his death only saw his soul moving to a phylactery as he became a lich.
Pride created a new Set, this time making each member just as he made Alden. Eventually, this culminated in Pride attacking Isra and his eventual, final defeat.
Decades have passed since that time and Alden, whose power kept him at his prime for years continued to serve Isra until the new calamity took him to The Island of Mists, his empress reduced to a captain and he now serving as her first mate.

Reaching fingers met skin, but not where the figure had been aiming for. Without even looking, Alden placed a hand in the way of theirs. His palm pressed lightly against their longest digit and if they attempted to circumnavigate the barrier, he would move his hand with theirs to prevent that. Should they make the decision to get up and try to more aggressively pursue the path they were on, Alden would respond by creating distance and pulling the cord he'd used to bind them to indicate they should stop before they were stopped. He was surprisingly good at non-verbal communication.
With the assumption that the figure would take the hint, the fish would finally finish cooking. As he pulled it away from the fire, he prepared to ward off their attempts to get at it before it cooled. "You need a name." He mused as he considered them, he'd have to think on it for a while. They couldn't talk, so should he name them himself? Maybe, there was not a huge pressure to do so for now but eventually a person not having a name got confusing.
When the fish was finally cool enough to eat he would offer some up to the figure, demonstrating how to pluck some flesh from the skin and pop it into his mouth. He was fully prepared to intercede if they tried to grab the entire fish and wolf it down in one go. He'd seen seal swallow fish like that and he had not yet thought of a better theory to explain what was going on than seal turned person.

Meeting Aldens hand was strange as of in itself. It was so rough like it was always used without a break or one ever needed. The figure took a second to admire the palm of Aldens hand before gently retreating back to themselves. Alden looked rather intimidating in the glow of the fire but the figure seemed to ignore that. Instead they started feeling their own palm, their left hand was raised as their right felt the palm. Their palm was so much more soft and fragile and smooth. The figure seemed to be amazed by the difference and their mouths corners edged up. They didn't know why they were doing this and they weren't doing it themselves, but it brought a nice feeling with it.
The figure wanted to compare so they started to reach towards Alden hoping for their palm to intervene again. But when they started to reach over Alden was already over at the fish. He returned shortly with the now cooked fish that was bringing the figure's stomach to quake the figure's body. Their goal was no longer to compare palms, but to get that fish. The figure, albeit slowly and with no direction, reached over to grab the fish. But if deflected after a few more attempts stopped in fear of angering the man, who was once again making noise that seemed like words.
While waiting, the figure plunged their finger into the sand beneath them. Pulling up they saw it left a hole in the sand. They wiped their hand across the sand and it left a different mark. The figure seemed to be toying with this new found revelation. Eventually they started combining the two motions, plunging their finger in the sand then going around in a swooping motion. The figure then started making circle after circle after circle. When there were too many circles they'd wipe with their hand and reset it. Then they moved their finger straight up creating a line. They then played with lines for a moment. They looked at one of the shapes on Alden and tried to find the easiest one to identify. They then would attempt a very poor sand sketch of that rune.
Whether they could draw it or not the fish was ready now. The man seemed to only grab a little and then place it towards his face into the air taker. When the fish was pointed towards them they tried to mimic the gesture. They took only a chunk, albeit a rather large chunk considering their big hands, and sent their hand with the chunk towards their face. At first it made contact with their cheek, then their forehead, then below their eye. But then they got to their lips and shoved the fish through into their mouth. Their eyes seemed to dilate in that moment as if everything had stopped for them. They brought the fish to their teeth with their tongue and did the up and down jaw motion the man had did. Which opened even more flavor and warmth. They chewed and chewed until it was just paste. Once it was paste they did the throat motion the man did and swallowed. They couldn't breath for a second but only a second as their stomach accepted the warm fish. It wasn't enough for it though.
The figure snapped their head back to the fish and started to more forcefully go for the fish.

Alden was crouched next to the fire, holding the fish, studying the figure. A few different ideas for names drifted through his mind as he watched them swallow, saw the change in expression, and with casual ease shifted the fish away from their grip. He moved as though he had seen the figure's reaction to the food coming, mostly because he had. He'd had a not entirely dissimilar reaction the first time he'd gotten a good meal when he'd blotted out his memories. Not that he'd been eating good meals beforehand, but he'd forgotten about the bland tasteless gruel he'd been raised on.
"Iascor, I think that is a good name for you."
He still held onto his selkie theory as being the most possible, so he'd shifted his mind through the language of the fae for a good name. He'd settle for one that roughly translated to Odd-Fish, which seemed appropriate for everything that was going on. Even with his focus more on the question of the name, his ability to outmaneuver the taller figure was unimpeded. He would shift his hands, move his feet, and keep just ahead of them until they figured out that he was the one in charge of the food, it was his hand that controlled when it was given. Once the figure seemed receptive to taking just a single bite again, Alden would allow it after he took his second bite.
Should the figure attempt to snatch the fish when they went to get their second bite, they would find Alden prepared for such a basic subterfuge. He understood instinct, he understood the mind of an animal, he'd been reduced to such in his life and so he was warry.

The figure tried reaching for it again and again but was thwarted every time. The figure started to get upset and made small noises as they reached for it. Eventually after a while they got the message. They were gonna have to wait until the fish was passed back around. The figure stopped and went back to their sitting spot and waited for Alden to hand back around the fish. The figure in the mean time went back to their attempts to draw until they heard the man talk to himself. The first thing he said was alluring to the figure, what was it he said.
"I- eye- sca- Isca- ice ka- Iascar- Iascor, Iascor, Iascor" The word was manageable to speak. It had just enough that their deep and clouted words they spoke earlier that must've been their native tongue could form it. The way they were saying it was rather strained almost like one in pain with forming such basic forms of their mouth. Though when they got the hang of the word they kept saying it, they rather liked the word and how it made their throat feel when saying it.
When the fish came back around Iascor perked up. They went for it more harsh at first but caught themselves going out to grab it. They then slowly extended their hand to the fish taking off another large chunk. They then gently returned the fish back to their mouth where they enjoyed the taste all over again until it was gone again. This time thinking better of it they didn't try to snatch the fish, But rather tried pushing the fish towards Alden so he could take a bite so that they could have some more sooner.

"Huh."
Progress had been made, Alden was a bit surprised when the newly dubbed Iascor started to chant their own name. It was another point toward his belief that he was dealing with some kind of brain-damaged fairy creature. The chanting didn't make him think that solid lines of communication were going to be open any time soon but it was becoming increasingly clear that they would be able to communicate.
"Fine, fine."
He shook his head and took another bite, the insistence that he do so not lost on him. Honestly, he wasn't all that hungry but sharing was important and he'd rather not ruin that lesson just to make things easier. There was more food than just the fish so if they were still hungry when it was gone he could just provide some rations. It would buy him more time to figure out exactly what else he was going to do.
He had a tall, skinny, naked, figure who couldn't speak and seemed to barely know how to control their own body. They needed clothes, boots, and care beyond what Alden was capable of providing out in the wild. He'd have to get them to Vinyah Lhann, it was a bit of a trek but it was closer than Argentium and hopefully, they could get Iascor some proper care and attention.

Iascor stared at Alden without blinking while the man took a bite. They waited excitedly even shifting the position of his legs while a course of tingling ran through their body. While waiting the sun had dimmed more, making the night sky more seen as stars began popping up. Iascor was catching onto this and looked up. They stared at the stars starting to dot the sky with interest. They looked at the shining dots as if they were a concept of mass construction no one would think could happen.
They stared and stared until the rest behind them slipped past their shoulder. The constant movement of excitement seemed to have angled them to only rest their shoulder on the rest behind them. Iascor hit the sand with a thud as they let out a grunt. They were disoriented but quickly broke out of it as they saw the stars again. They had a much better angle where they were now to gaze at the dots. Then it caught their eyes, a slightly brighter star. The star danced its light gently across where it was in the darker sky. Iascor with great effort slowly rose their arm towards the star. They were entranced by it, they felt close to it somehow. Their hunger at the moment was nullified but a small rumble still came out showing that their stomach was not yet satisfied.
When Iascor landed on their back, their hair had bounced off their chest area. With all the flailing and the very long hair covering it their was no shock that it would be hidden. A giant mark was in the center of their chest, the mark was what seemed like a combination of a scar, brand, and tattoo in one. In the center laid a giant stab scar that was orange instead of red that could only be delivered by a large weapon, spewing from the scar was black lines that seemed to crack off the orange covering a diamond like shape. To finish the last remarkable detail, surrounding all the cracks and the scar there was a terrible circle that seemed to be made of tendrils with some connecting with eyes. The mark was open for all to see but Iascor seemed to not care.
Iascor stayed staring at the stars for a while until their hunger caught up to them. They would then struggle to get back into a sitting position before taking another chunk of fish. Once again they would shove it in their mouth then shove the fish towards the man so he could take a bite. Iascor would then stare at Alden again waiting for him to take yet another bite.

Age: 53(?)

It was later than thought it was it seemed, the sun drifting toward the horizon meant they needed to get going. He was sure Arianne Graves would be wondering where he'd gotten off to. He'd left her back at camp working on some of the things Jun had taught her. "Alright, come on. We can eat and walk." There wasn't much left to the fish anyway as he kicked sand over the fire. He would use the fish to lure his new stray away from their current location. It seemed his hand had been forced, he'd get back to the camp tonight and soon it would be time to visit the settlement Vinya Lahn. Jun had already gone ahead, she'd be heading out to Argentium soon and he wanted to make sure he got to see her again. He also supposed it was only fair that he pay a visit to the Usqueans.
