Liriel was caught by surprise by the laughter but after Kroe explained the reason he got curious, he thanked the half orc for the tea and assured him that the lack of sugar wasn't a problem, the elf took a sip and complemented the taste of the tea before patiently listening to Kroe's tale thinking that what brought two people with such similar past could be nothing less than destiny. Kroe's question caught once again by surprise.
After some tea sipping and pondering, Liriel had this to say. "I believe that the world has kindness in it, you were kind to offer me food and tea, midnight over here is kind when he notices me brooding or in a bad mood, maybe we got dealt a bad hand, maybe kindness is too far in between the land, maybe being kind is a choice rarely made but I refuse to believe that what we know is all the world has to offer."
Liriel put his cup down, and put his arm near the crow that immediately jumped into his wrist, he pat the bird as he kept voicing his thoughts "Even if I'm wrong, that doesn't change the fact that we can still choose to be kind, kind to ourselves, kind to each other. Isn't that right midnight ?" The crow responded with a "yes".
Although birds aren't the most expressives animals, these two had spent enough time together that Liriel could almost read the bird's mind. It had it's eyes on Kroe for all of the duration of the story and it was still looking, Liriel extended his arm as to get midnight closer to Kroe and said, "Kroe, put your arm out like this," he showed with his other hand the position, "His heavier then he looks but not by much."
As soon as Kroe out his arm out, midnight would jump from one man to the other, "I like you." Then he cawed, Liriel smiled, "Makes sense to me for midnight to like you, you are called Kroe after all." Liriel chuckled at his own joke and then said "I'd like to stay here and help you build if you'll allow me."
