Nina hurried after Elgastus, almost stumbling in her surprise. “Should I, uhm, know any particular protocol?” The girl asked. She fidgeted with the beads on a braided strand of her hair. “Not saying that I haven’t met nobility before, but when I did, they sometimes tried to kill me.” "Just be polite, and you'll be fine, He won't expect a guest to know all the protocols. Just try not to antagonize the General. He's a bit prickly, and with all his eyes, he'll have all of them on you."

Helsreach was quite bustling these days, most of the huts and shacks having given way to proper homes, stores, and more, even some were multi-story. They seemed to be primarily made of wood and stone, with that same feindstuff holding it firmly together and hanging around like vines.
People, primarily Fiends and humans with the occasionally a elf or dwarf would show as well. There seemed to be little conflict, no more than any normal city would have.
"Welcome to my humble city!" The king said, spreading his arms wide.

Age: ~23
Appearance: (note: icon temporary)
5'7" tall with a relatively thin, semi-athletic frame. Her blonde hair is cut to her shoulders and held up in a half-tail, with a pair of goggles resting on top of her head both keeping the hair out of her heterochromatic one-blue-and-one-aqua eyes. Generally she wears simple orange-ish tan breeches and a green sleeved shirt, occasionally with a harness made of wood and metal scraps and often carrying one or more of her creations.
Equipment: She has a small set of tools with which to cut and nail together wood and thinner metals, as well as a buckler-like shield with a blade coming out the front, cobbled together from scrap materials. She also has a pair of broken mechanical wings that are missing their old power source and a half finished forearm-mounted crossbow.
Skills and Abilities: She is highly creative, able to use even discarded and scrap materials to create interesting small tools, weapons, and similar pieces.
She is good with carpentry and basic mechanics, with passable knowledge in working cold metal.
Biography: She was born on the island of Éledún, home to one of the most magically gifted groups of humans in her world. However, from her birth it was known to all that she would lack any of these gifts for her entire life. Her eyes were enough to tell them that. So, to make up for the magical inadequacy she was so self-conscious of, she took up tinkering with wood and metal, creating small inventions to help around the town or to help fight(some...working much better than others). She spent most of her life trying to prove herself to her peers, but was always viewed as some eccentric outcast on the edge of town, until the flood washed everything away.

Givena looked on at the city, thoroughly impressed. The first thing that caught her eye were the remaining tents, proving that even they were strangers in this new land, even if they had enough head start to build a proper settlement. Were they displaced by floodwaters at well?
The second thing that she saw, however, utterly shocked her. Down in the city below were humans and demons, living among each other. Peacefully. All her life she had heard stories that demons hated humanity, resented it and what they had that the demons themselves did not. But here, it seemed like that wasn’t the case. They were friendly, enough to be neighbors even. Were these even the same demons she had heard about as a child?
“Wow.” Givena said, looking over it. “It seems so…” She trailed off, at a loss for what she could say.

The king said, a smirk on his face. "It's the culmination of years of work and plans, my dream."

Givena was unsure of what to say, but the king voiced one of the many things she was thinking. It _was_ strange to her. It was unnatural. But at the same time…it was oddly charming. The quaint buildings, the strange building material, the sheer absurdity of it all just had some strange allure to her curious mind. Still, it was just hard for her to wrap her head around.
“...It’s nice.” She says quietly, eyes still looking over the city. She couldn’t find any words to describe exactly how she felt about it, so the simple ‘nice’ would have to do.

"My wife should already be back at the palace. I promise you you won't get mobbed." He added with a joking tone.

At the mention of potentially getting mobbed, Givena’s heart began to race, before she realized the joke. “O-oh, uh, sure.” She says, following the king.

"It's alright, They like me, and they love new visitors, so they'll start crowding you and we'll be here all night. Follow me!" He said, a bit of red energy in his palm. In a few moments, the red substance would form up into a set of reddish stairs to the roof of one of the buildings. Then the king would run up the stairs, motioning her to follow.

Givena followed the demon king up the stairs, eyes darting from side to side as she looked below them. She’d see a small market area, filled with people making deals, trading foods, and eating together. As they passed that her gaze would turn to a small plaza, where she would see children playing games as adults chattered nearby, the occasional laugh breaking through that ever-present murmur of a bustling square. She smiled slightly as she watched the scene, happy to see that even after the end of the world, hopelessness hadn’t set in.
However, as they walked between buildings, Givena’s mind turned towards the king’s magical ability. “How are you doing that?” She asked, referring to his manipulation of the red substance. “It seems so different from the magic I saw people use back home. No components, no special gestures. I’ve never seen magic quite like it.”

He swore, "I'm about the only one left who can still make large constructs."

“Interesting.” Givena comments, looking at the red material. “The mist is making magic weaker? That’s an odd situation, I’ve never heard of something doing that on such a widespread level.” She continued to walk behind the king, going silent as she thought. By now, she was used to a life without magic, even if she resented the fact that she had to. But if this truly was the case with this mist, there had to be a lot of people who suddenly were in that position. She wondered what that sort of challenge must be like.

"I couldn't explain it either, it's an odd thing. Like a group of gods decided 'No, we only want basic people in our petri dish' and weakened everybody. Pretty much all of my people are powerless now. I just had the raw power to still be able to make a difference." He explained, creating small bridges or staircases as he need as they headed towards the large spire in the center of the city.

Givena narrowed her eyes at the king’s comment. “It feels like you underestimate those you call ‘basic people’.” She says, raising an eyebrow. “Those without magic can still make a difference, you know.”
Her eyes turn towards the large spire as it comes into more detail, looking it over. It seemed so different to the rest of the construction in the rest of the city, like a giant, glowing, red needle in a village of a haystack. She gulped, unsure as she saw it rising in front of them.

"Don't worry about that, i hardly do that. Hell, i married someone with no abilties at all beyond her own body. I meant in the construction of helsreach. It's been exhausting. but we're almost done now, and we're almost at the spire, come!" He told her, before running the final distance to the spire.

Unable to push the topic before the king ran off, Givena followed behind him, trying to keep up as they ran towards the spire rising from the ground. She refuses to look at it as she races that way, trying to push away the feelings of unease.
